If you could narrow your favourite films of all time down to just three, which would they be?

Mine would be:
Midnight Run
It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World
South Pacific

not read through all the posts but so pleased to see some of the same choices as mine,
The Graduate
The Bridges of Madison County
Shawshank Redemption
Dustin Hoffman such a brilliant actor.
Clint and Meryl could teach the young ones a lot.
The music of Shawshank - it just soared...

So good you posted them 17 times bridie54 grin.

I really struggled to get my shortlist of 6, and now have to reduce it by half, oh dear. Oh well, here goes:

Lion - without a doubt the most heartbreaking, poignant and ultimately uplifting true story of a 5 year old Indian boy who gets on the wrong train and ends up hundreds of miles away from his family, in an area of India where they speak a different language, so he can't even make himself understood.
Life is Beautiful - I see many people have mentioned this one.
What we did on our holiday - starring Billy Connolly. If you haven't seen this film, please watch it if you can. It is so moving, and so beautifully done.
