Good Morning Everyone,
I have woken up to a clear blue sky and sunshine here in Brackley this morning.
Yesterdays trip out was just Bicester via Buckingham , the weather seemed more like Autumn yesterday than spring.
Today , have my lunch followed with cycling on TV as the drama in Italy unfolds .
Take Care,
Mick

A later good morning everyone from south Manchester. I slept in till almost 9am! Unheard of. Oh well, the benefits of retirement eh? Sleep till you’ve had enough.

Been reading the newspapers on line. Null points for the Eurovision!

Himself is prepping the veg for our roast pork Sunday lunch I shall go in soon to make the stuffing. I just use Paxo but cook an onion first, chop it and add it to the mix with the oniony water and extra dried sage to give more taste. Butter on top before baking. It’s kind of a cheat’s ‘home-made’.

Gorgeous weather here. Our boy wonder & himself enjoyed the Man. Utd tour yesterday and our grandson has his final golf lesson today - on the course itself he’s so excited. How lucky has he been weather wise as none of his 6 birthday lessons got cancelled due to adverse weather these Sunday mornings!

Enjoy the day. I shall read all the (almost 50) posts when I get a coffee in an hour. I like to set the table and have everything done for stepfather’s arrival at 1pm.

Stay cautious all. x

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday morning turn into a very social one. Decided to have coffee locally, sitting outside outside . Ended up spending almost 2 hours there as we were spotted by several friends and acquaintances who all stopped to chat. 5 year old DGS also spotted us and had to come over to show us his haircut and tell us he was off to a party.
Today we are going to DD2s for tea and chat. Luckily we are able to be inside as the weather isn’t looking promising.
Perhaps a short walk this morning if I can get myself going.
Thought to all with any sort of troubles.
Hope you all find a ?today.

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all
It was my birthday yesterday, but I ended up in hospital, again, with AF, late on Friday night, so all the careful organisation that our DD had gone to, came to nought. I was so disappointed, and although I am now home, still feel washed out.

But, the lovely nurses asked the hospital kitchen to make me a birthday cake, and in the afternoon a big chocolate cake arrived with 8/9 staff singing Happy Birthday, at the foot of my bed.
What a kind and lovely thought to cheer me up.
There were 6 of us in the ward, and only two tiny pieces eaten, so I gave the rest of the cake back to the nurses to eat during their breaks.
There will be on line Church shortly, then I am going to read all my cards again.
Have a good day one and all.

Good morning all from a dull but dry, at the moment, Welwyn, Herts.
I've got washing that needs drying but can't risk hanging outdoors, as it may pour down any minute.
It was enjoyable to watch the Eurovision last night, I thought many of the songs were rather good, but very disappointing to see UK get nil points again. Perhaps it's time to withdraw completely from this contest, it's sad for the UK contestant and demoralising. Well done to Italy on their win.
I look forward to a summer break as my DIL's Mum will come to visit for the summer, she is a teacher living abroad and visits during school holidays, when Covid permissible. She will help out with DGC care so I will be relieved, perhaps just once a week I will be needed.
We're not planning to go away this year, we would normally go to Turkey but it's not possible for the foreseeable future.
Wishing you all a pleasant, restful Sunday and enjoy whatever you are doing.

Happy belated birthday Auntieflo?

aggie Sun 23-May-21 10:39:44

Good Morning everyone, it’s cold wet and miserable here , no hope of hanging the washing out today ! I remember it being really frowned on to do washing or anything on a Sunday.
My Gran told us we would be ripping out our knitting with our noses in Heaven if we did it on Sundays ?

Marydoll Sun 23-May-21 10:44:17

Belated happy birthday, Auntie Flo I'm so sorry that your birthday wasn't what you hoped for. I hope you feel a bit better today. Take it easy and allow yourself to be spoiled! ?

Gelisajams Sun 23-May-21 11:01:41

Happy belated birthday Auntieflo . I hope you are feeling stronger soon ?

CherryCezzy Sun 23-May-21 11:05:51

Good morning everyone. Well, well, well, there is weather out there but it's not May weather as we know it!

Looking forward to the last day of the Premier League season today ?. I'd love my team to get a win, though a point would do us. Leicester doing us a favour would be great too ?. Congratulations to your DGS Dwmxwg ?.

Sending Happy birthday wishes to all the family members of goodmorningers who have birthdays or birthday celebrations, including Lins and GrannyOwl's DGC ?
What a fabulous venue for your DS' soon to be wedding Marydoll, what a lovely girl your DD is too ?
I hope you enjoy your day holly and that it helps lift your spirits ?
What a way to spend your birthday Auntieflo, I empathise as I too have spent a birthday that way. So glad you are back home! Happy belated birthday to you ???
Thinking of grandmajet, GrannySomerset and Susan, hope your DD is improving.

Take care everyone ❤️

Thank you Brook I am fine, just an annoying cough!
dogsmakemesmile talking of St Tudnos, The Great Orme and my favourite town makes me feel homesick! Mind you we have booked a visit in September. My GPs lived there, and my maternal GM lived in Dyganwy. So every school holiday was spent there - I loved it. GF was laterally manager of E.B Jones in Gloddaeth Street, in the 50s

Grandmadinosaur Sun 23-May-21 11:20:55

Good morning from a full East Yorkshire.
I haven’t been feeling too well for a couple of days and yesterday morning was sat with a cuppa reading the weekend paper magazine when there was a knock at the door which I knew was DGS as he bangs in excitement to be let in! There he was with mummy with “flowers for grandma” oh how it melted me heart. A real tonic especially as they are away for a few days now and won’t be doing our usual midweek childminding.

I feel a bit better today and we are out for lunch so a #lazygran day.
Have a good Sunday all

Grandmadinosaur Sun 23-May-21 11:21:26

*dull not full

Grandmadinosaur Sun 23-May-21 11:24:26

Forget to add I don’t know why we bother with Eurovision either. DH said today perhaps we should start a Super League like they tried to with football but still don’t see how it would benefit us.

Party4 Sun 23-May-21 11:45:25

Morning all from dry West Yorks must take advantage of dry weather and finish garden pots.
Family here for roast dinner.DH and DS going to watch their first rugby match for over a year and being season ticket holders, it's a big event regardless of a win or loose game, although a win would be the icing on the cake.
I will be Cinderella staying home waiting for all their returns with dinner ready.
I envy hearing of all your visits, trips and meet ups, apart from essential shopping cannot get DH to go anywhere(rugby yes) he had issues pre covid and covid life and restrictions was his ideal world. After shielding I'm finding it difficult getting my own life back.
Thinking of those with worry and illness.?for little?

Nannagarra Sun 23-May-21 11:54:28

Sending belated happy birthday wishes to you Auntieflo. Such a shame you spent it in hospital and that your DD’s efforts came to nought on the day. When you feel better, maybe her plans can come to fruition. In the meantime take care.
Thinking of grandamajet, Susan56 and quite a few others who could do with a bear hug at the moment.

Lins1066 Sun 23-May-21 12:01:34

Thank you for you kind good wishes Cherry, hope your team win.
Happy birthday to GrannyOwl's DGC.
A Happy belated birthday to Auntieflo xx

Good Morning All. x
Grey, rainy and not so warm again, jumper and cardigan at the ready. I'll also don tights today as well because the feet were like blocks of ice yesterday.

Gave myself the fright of my life----thought this weekend was a Bank Holiday as it says Whit Sunday on my calendar ( today)and Trinity Sunday next week. Which is why I got a chicken out of the freezer yesterday to have with all the trimmings etc. today ! It's next week ! I had a horrible feeling that I was losing the plot. Ah well, chicken for dinner.

A local hotel not far from where I am has had to close its doors. A very popular place for wedding receptions as the gardens were ideal for photographs. So very sad. I'd been there a number of times for all kinds of celebrations, funerals too. This Covid has a lot to answer for with the loss of so many businesses and of course the jobs.

Why do I start reading the papers before and while I'm posting ? I try and train my brain not to, but it won't listen grin I do all sorts of other jobs in between too, definitely on the cusp of something, dad used to call me a " flibbertigibbet " all those years ago so I obviously haven't changed from whatever one of those was/ is.

Anyway, chicken all but done but that's about all so far. Not much in the way of anything exciting going on, no wild parties in the offing or celebrations of any sort, though I hope the twin GGC will be having a bit of a do for their 15th birthdays because I'll be able to join them in 2 weeks time.

Because the weather's been so crummy, I started buying C/presents online yesterday to build a stash for all the children.

I hope everyone's day is filled with cheer whatever the weather and Ashcombe enjoy the remainder of your delightful break, take care on your return travel.

Take care everyone and remain safe.xx

Dogsmakemesmile Sun 23-May-21 16:21:43

Gwenisgreat1 so glad I prompted some good memories. I took my children there several times. Did the tram, the pier, the Oriel art gallery, Alice in Wonderland attraction, collected pebbles, picnic food at M and S... Good times.

EllanVannin Sun 23-May-21 16:33:46

A belated Birthday Wish, Auntieflo x flowers

Redhead56 Sun 23-May-21 17:10:50

It’s late in the day but I only just got to read the thread. Our DD and GD stayed last night first time since lockdown. So I was up at 5.30 I don’t usually post morning thread but I like to read it later on in the day.
I was helping with my little twin GD for a couple of years it was hard work and long hours. When they reached nursery age I stopped so I got into a routine of getting up later.
Marydoll the lovely hair colour has gone with age but I am well known for my feisty nature.
