Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s chucking it down here again yet we had sunshine yesterday teatime so it’s a real mixed bag these days.
I’m off to meet 4 friends for lunch again at the nice deli/cafe yard. Himself has just offered to drive me but I quite enjoy the peaceful stroll there, with my umbrella if needs be. It only takes me 20 minutes or so.
Safe journey home Ash lots of spray on the motorways I imagine this weather. Another here hoping to hear some good news recovery from grandmajet soon. Nice to have you join us again Grannyme6! It always seems quieter than ever when house guests leave doesn’t it so it’s underst you feel a bit flat. Hope you feel more uplifted soon.
I’m not going to mention the train that’s just pulled into the station across the road amselerin ....
?
Hope Tuesday is good to us all whether we have plans or none. x

Good Morning Tuesday
(66 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey at the moment but its dry this morning in Brackley.
Today , rest day as to cycling , watching yesterdays shortened stage in the Dolomites due to heavy rain , somewhat changed the amount of live broadcasting as they rely on an aircraft plus helicopter to beam signals , as it was very low cloud made impossible to see whole race .
Anyway, my usual trip to Bicester this morning for an hour to break things up , also with some bus routes not running there regular timetables gives limitations as to time .
Take care,
Mick
I like mosey, combination of nosey and moseying around, I shall adopt it! ?
Greetings from the hotel in Gloucester, where we are eating far too much, but it is only three days, although I have a meal out with some ex work colleagues on Friday, my social life is picking up!
DS3 had to have an operation yesterday, was still in Recovery at 8.00 pm, but got home just before midnight. How do you tell a rampaging two year old that Daddy can't pick him up? Fortunately DiL's mum is there to help for a bit, but she can't stay for 6 weeks. Have offered help when she goes, but they are an independent couple, have to wait to be asked.
Will investigate Newent today, anyone know it?
Happy Tuesday, look after yourselves, hoping for good news for those with worries.
Can I second the recommendation for Passenger Assistance?
We used it a lot when paw had regular hospital appointments at the Royal Free involving the train from MK to Euston then taxi to RF. Even longer ago when he was more able to walk it was the 168 bus, which I knew well from visiting over 20 years.
Anyway, you don’t have to be disabled, although Paw used two sticks. The advantages were a reserved seat near the door, the “buggy” to meet you off the train and take you , in our case, to the taxis, avoiding that long trek up to and across a crowded concourse and also the use of the Travel Assistance Lounge at Euston on the return trip to wait for your train.
I once met Jenni Murray with her two little dogs there - and she is not disabled.
Give it a go, you have to ring in advance, the night before did for us but it was very worthwhile.
Good Morning everyone from warm sunshine and blue skies. We’re expecting 26 degrees at the end of the week, so I’m breaking out all of the garden cushions today…..an even better excuse to sit down with a book under the Jasmine, which unfortunately is making me feel a bit drunk at the mo’. ?
DH is returning soon with a croissant treat for us to have with our coffee and I must hang out the laundry. Treated myself to some new bed linen and am expecting it to be delivered to a ‘relais’ of my choice tomorrow/nearby shop which accepts company deliveries to save everyone having to wait in for them. I’m quite excited - just have to finish decorating the guest bedroom and that’s the encouragement I need.
Cat is shouting……more food demanded, I think. Must get on. Have a lovely day and try to look for the rainbows ? which will follow all the rain. All the forecasts say better weather on its way for the UK, so cheery-up faces on, ladies! Take care, stay safe please.
☕️??☀️????♀️??????????
Morning everyone. Grey and dry so far in the Scottish Borders. Will get on a new OU course today. Radio four on. Will do some baking later. Wishing everyone as good a day as possible.x
Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders. It isn't raining but grey and far too cold for the time of year.
Yoga this morning but picking up my new specs before that.
Then lunch with a GNer and a haircut - first since before Christmas. I'm to find a picture of what I want and he will copy it. Ha Ha!
I wonder what he will make of this It's Miley Cyrus in case you were wondering.
I hope all GM ers are doing well. I sympathise grandMattie about the stress of train travel and could share many stories with you. Apparently at present it is a pleasure to go by train as they are not crowded, have few tourists or commuters and are clean.
Hoping for a happy Tuesday for all.
Good morning everyone from a very grey and damp Northampton, with more rain forecast later. So another day indoors for me. Will be able to get on with my reading and knitting. Felt pleased with myself yesterday as I managed almost all of the cryptic crossword apart from a couple of tricky clues.
DS kindly obliged yesterday and delivered some frozen peas, but managed to leave his sunglasses behind. He will call in for them later on his way to work. Feeling excited as he has invited me to a BBQ on Sunday; it will be the first time I've been to his house since Christmas 2019! And will see and hug the DGDs.
Just the bed to change this morning plus the usual kitchen and bathroom cleaning. No cooking for me tonight as I made a large turkey stew in the pressure cooker yesterday, and there is enough left over to reheat this evening. No sign of the cats yet today; they must be having a lie-in!
Take care all.
Nosey!! not mosey.
Good morning from Durham - dry and breezy. Gardener came yesterday and removed most of the rotten decking - another area is staying and to be repaired. I left him to it, but as he pruned an enormous fir tree - only the bits overhanging my garden a mosey neighbour appeared and started shouting at him that he ‘had no right to do it and it was disgusting!’ Thankfully he didn’t engage her and finished off the job.
I’ve missed a few days on GN - so best wishes to whoever’s under par today and hope things improve soon.
Baubles, the strips hide the seams and are hand sewn on. So there is a grid of strips...
Morning all from a grey North Leicestershire.
I have a Zoomed Induction course this morning and a Zoomed dementia cafe this afternoon so I shall be all zoomed out by tea time which is why we are having a burger from the visiting Burgerologist!
I am having a really bad sciatica attack at the moment so have sympathy with your leader, Mattie.
Ashcombe's advice re help on the trains is definitely worth investigating it is not just for disabled people.
grandmadinosaur, lots of charities offer phone and real life befriending services eg RVS and AgeUk. Would they help your father, grandmadinosaur?
Have the best day possible all.
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where the sun is trying valiantly to show its face. There are actually patches of blue in the sky.
I forgot to go to the post office yesterday! How can that happen? Anyway I must go today. Little pooch is having a haircut this morning, I’m trying a new place as she’s been distinctly lopsided the last couple of times I’ve had to trim one eyebrow myself, just as well she’s black as it’s not so noticeable from a distance.
Safe travels Ashcombe.
How do you hide the seams GM, don’t you have to stitch on the strips?
I hope your DF soon feels able to take up some of his interests again grandmadinosaur.
Hope Grandmajet’s recovery is going well and that today is a peaceful one for everyone.
Good morning from a overcast north Surrey.
I enjoyed my PJ day, had a relaxing bath and self manicure and have made a good start on a new jigsaw.
Feeling refreshed and had a very early start at the gym. Back now for breakfast will then be off for a dog walk.
DH is driving to West Sussex this morning for an overnight stay with his son. Not well planned as I am on a late shift so DD will have to come here and spend some time with the dog and feed him for me. I will have to walk him again when I get home, I am not keen on walking in the dark but he will need it.
Thoughts to Auntyflo, Cherry and Marydoll, hope today is a better day. Have a good one ?☀️?
Good morning from rainy Colchester.
Waiting for carpenter to arrive to hang some new internal doors and have an appointment with a bathroom planner at noon. The house is beginning to take shape.
We have two 5th birthdays in the family today, grandson and great nephew born on the same day!
Love to all x
Good morning from a campsite four miles or so out of Scarborough where it is dry. Will take advantage of the dry and set of shortly to walk along the Clevedon Way into Scarborough before the rain comes in later. Will get a bus back and try out our new unused bus passes.
Just as we arrived yesterday and started to set up the awning the heavens opened. Just for duration of putting it up!
Thinking of all with problems worries and pain and special ?to Marydoll
Who I hope is feeling stronger today.
Take care and stay safe everyone ???
Good morning from Staffordshire.
Not sure what we will do today as it’s cold and raining.DGS likes to be outside so hopefully we will get some sunshine later.
Gingster, good news that your DH’s diabetes can be managed by diet and exercise.
Safe journey Ashcombe.Hope the roads aren’t too busy.
Thinking of Cherry,Mary,Auntieflo, grandmajet and all with illness and worries?
Have a good day all??
Morning Mick, morning All. Blue sky over our corner of Somerset good to see after yesterday’s unremitting grey.
Washing machine havoc yesterday evening, stopped mid cycle then turned itself on for a few seconds before dying again. Took an hour to extract the laundry, no idea if it’s clean or not. Mr C hauled the machine out so we could try a different socket, bit of a relief it wasn’t the wiring, definitely the machine. First job to arrange a repair, there’s a warranty. Wonder how long we’ll need to wait. Once that’s sorted off on a plant hunt to fill two very large garden tubs, returning an item to M&S and a lunch out. Other than the lack of laundry a good day ahead.
Take care everyone. Hope Tuesday is kind to us all.
Morning all from a sunny 9.5c south coast. Think we might have a nicer day in store after all the heavy rain showers and strong breezes of recent days.
Our lovely window cleaner came yesterday, dodged the showers and cleaned all the soffits etc. including the garage door (of the detritus left by the builders). It all looks sparkling and smart now and I am happy with it.
Had a surprise visit from Mary Poppins in the afternoon. Well, her umbrella was in our back garden when I spotted it from the kitchen window, but there was no sign of her. The umbrella was erect and just as if she had flown in and then disappeared. I almost expected to see her sitting on the garden seat!
DH went next door to see if she might be there and it turned out that our neighbour had put the brolly down on their garden seat whilst she carried shopping indoors and forgotten about it. A gust of wind must have lifted over the 6 foot fence. (But I still think Mary P had something to do with it
! )
Hope the day is a good one for us all.
Good morning. Wet and miserable here in Cheshire. Grandson's 9th birthday today. He got a brand new bike - video sent to show me. How lovely to be that age !
Good morning all, from a regular GM reader and occasional poster. Feeling rather flat after a lovely long weekend with DD, SiL and DGD staying. The weather was dire but we braved the elements in short bursts. Spent yesterday gently ‘tidying’ away the stair gates/toys, etc and doing the laundry and managed to plant up geraniums in pots when the sun finally shone late afternoon. Must make a plan for today and get going. Have a good day all.
Morning Mick and All.
Cloud with a bit of sun in South Bucks today.
Safely home after a short very soggy break. Whatever the weather it was good to go out for shopping, coffee, light lunches/dinners. Everywhere was Covid conscious and we had to use our NHS Covid App in most places. My hands were constantly wet with sanitiser, but I’m not complaining. I really do feel we are at the start of being released from this nightmare. We are on ‘parole’.
Washing and shopping on the agenda today.
Good morning from a bright and sunny NE.
I got all my jobs done and the washing finished by lunchtime so I was able to sit down and have coffee with DD and SIL.
Sainsbury's delivery this morning and that is all for today.
Enjoy your freedom.
Good morning all. The weather is so ‘all over the place’ don’t know what to wear, when to go out, washing in or out, dog walk ? It’s all a bit of a lottery! Sun one minute and downpours the next. ?☔️?.
Had a great Chiming session yesterday. Such a laugh and cake and tea to finish. A lovely group of pals! ???.
Today Dh and I are going to our old neighbours/friends to have a dog walk in the woods and then coffee and a sandwich in her very large garden. She has done a lot of work in it and spent an arm and a leg on plants, shrubs and a very attractive , young , new Italian gardener. ????. We’re looking forward to seeing it.
DH saw the diabetes nurse yesterday and the blood test showed his sugar levels aren’t too high, so hopefully with sensible diet and excercise he should be ok. It’s his weak legs that worry me more ??.
Wishing you all a good day.
Ash have a safe journey home.?
Nannytopsy enjoy Norfolk.Springwatch is there this year. I loved it when it was at Minsmere, just up the coast from us.
Take care ???
Good morning everyone from Inverness where I really don’t want to mention the wet weather we’re still having ... surely someone will turn the big tap off soon!
No plans for today yet, I might take my umbrella and go out for a walk somewhere, not the woods at the back of the house as it's really muddy there but maybe down to the beach for a change. DH is home now from his trip away, he had a lovely time but his wallet is a lot lighter after numerous meals out! It doesn’t matter though as it’s nice to treat everyone from time to time
Have a safe journey home Ash and hope the roads aren’t too busy.
It’s lovely of your DD to invite you to stay GM try not too worry too much about the train journey and if you can leave lots of time between connections so you’re not rushing.
Hope your Dad begins to feel better soon grandmadinosaur and finds something that interests him
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good Morning everyone. A damp dull day here in East Yorkshire.
I managed to catch up with my jobs yesterday including finding some lost items of clothing I’d bought for Dgs last summer and mislaid! Hope they still fit?
I had a catch up with my dad which for the first time since losing Mum concerned me. Sounds like the loneliness is starting to hit him. He has many interests. I’m not sure if it’s down to the weather as he said with it being so miserable he just wants to sit on the sofa. I can relate to that myself though but as I’m a distance from him I think we all need to get together as a family and come to some arrangement to perk him up.
No plans as such today apart from going to the post office and maybe a little wander somewhere.
Have a good day everyone and a safe journey home Ashcombe
