Morning all.Today my eldest has a BIG birthday, don’t know how that happened?Just off to celebrate with family, almost a ‘normal’ day (except the sun has hidden).
How do you hang your washing out?
Thought I’d better hold fire in case Mick made it, but I declare this thread officially open

A very Happy Birthday to MrNanKate, hope, you both enjoy the day.
Good morning to Mick, to MawB and all from the Scottish Borders where the sun is shining. There is a very positive feel to this morning thread on the whole it is lovely to hear of your doings in various places up and down the country.
Really lovely news from Georgesgran congratulations all round.
Happy birthday to Mr Nan , Kate.
I am pleased that you at least enjoyed most of your day at the seaside Elizabeth1 I hope you are ok .
I am so glad that your family weekend went well gMattie and how nice to find cheap fabric for your projects.
I saw some of my family on the zoom quiz last night which amazingly we still keep going after well over a year. Last night we had to name a mountain or hill range in the UK and a song with Love in the title. Last person with an answer was the winner. Mostly we just chat.
More gardening today as it's the only day without builders next door. I had to shout at some teenagers up the scaffolding on Friday night. It must be very tempting.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Thank you Maw
Late arrival today. Woke up a few times so extra zzzzzzs needed.
Just having poached egg outside. Cornwall air here very fresh after a day of rain. Clouds are looming so will finish breakfast and return for along morning read here.
Smiles are in store for you all today.
Happy Birthday MrNanKate.?
Good luck for tomorrow Alizarin.
Good morning from a sunny Morecambe Bay.
Enjoy your new little grandson Georgesgran
Enjoy MrNankate’s birthday Kate
I think we have all had that feeling at some point of thinking the car has been stolen Ashcombe it’s a horrible feeling. My trick used to be taking DH’s car then looking for mine. I don’t do it now as I don’t tend to drive our second vehicle which is our little campa.
Yesterday’s trip to Wigan went well and the adjustment which was needed only cost £25 so my visit to the the very reasonably priced nursery we had spotted en route the day before was very productive!
Have done exercises for the day and will walk to church shortly. It will be the last time we shall see the vicar as she is off to pastures new. She’s holding her last service next Sunday but hopefully we will be in Norfolk so will not be here.
I’m committed to looking after the vicarage garden until the new incumbent arrives which will be next Easter realistically, even if someone is appointed quickly. It’s a slow process getting a new vicar!
Take care everyone and stay safe ???
Happy Birthday to MrNanKate ??
Jaxjacky
Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants, thanks Maw and a wave to Mick. Because it’s overcast I’ve had a good long sleep, no bright sun sneaking round the curtains.
Ashcombe how is Oldudders? Not heard from him for a while.
Happy Birthday MrNanKate ?? enjoy your day and Congratulations Georgesgran on the new addition.
More allotment today with MrJ; our local has reinstated the Sunday meat draw at 5pm, so we’ll pop down for that. I’ll have a chicken bubbling away in the slow cooker ready for dinner.
Have a lovely day, whatever you’re up too, sunshine and ???for all.
How nice to be remembered! I am sitting on la terrasse finishing a late breakfast, not having had the best of nights - just sleepless, that's all. Lots of birdsong, blue sky and the two cats wandering about. Fat Cooper finished the dregs of my cereal milk, as he often does. Lola hardly gets a chance.
We had biblical rain on Thursday afternoon. Now the water was needed, certainly, bu the stair-rod intensity did no good for some of my plants, which Cleaner/Gardener Alison had only finished planting that morning! Every year we go to a nursery and select plants for the five hanging baskets and four planters. This year Alison had managed to keep some of the 2020 display alive in one of her polytunnels, so that was a bonus. Her two orphan lambs are now off the bottle, and in recent days she's had some chicks hatch, a little late, and her partner had suggested abandoning those eggs. For a farmer in his '50s he's very impatient, among other personality - er - traits.
Today there is a Grand Prix from Baku, Azerbaijan, so I will be watching that. Hopefully DW Ashcombe will have completed her kind taxi-duty for Jean and will see most of it. We WhatsApp each other when notable events occur during the race.
Morning all from overcast West Yorks.
Congratulations on safe arrival of your DGs Georgesgran such an occasion a new addition to the family, it never fails to amaze me genetics.Found old photo of my DSs and it could easily have been their own children.Pleased to read Micks message.Birthday wishes to MrNan.
Rare occasion neither DSs and family here for tea and DH has booked to watch his rugby team this p.m. so I am considering braving it and taking myself out for a saunter with coffee and cake treat(doesnt take a lot to please).
Good morning, Michael, Deputy Maw, and all GNs. Hope you’re okay, Mick. It has been raining overnight in South Yorkshire and feels a little cooler which is a blessing. Not a lot planned for today; I may try and get some knitting done. I want to finish this sweater before we go away so I had better get my skates on.
Congratulations Georgesgran on your new grandson?! Well done Mummy!
Have a good day folks, whatever you’re doing.
Lins and Maw for heaven’s sake……just hide the spade ! ?
Good luck for tomorrow, Alizarin! ?
PS. The fruit trees are coming on a treat!
Wishing you well for tomorrow Alizarin sound positively luxurious!
Good morning from a very rainy Black Country, a bit of relief after the hot weather. Although, I had planned to bring Mum over for a BBQ! We may get the Gazebo up, as it is still quite warm and have one anyway,
Drove down to Burnham yesterday to the caravan, to do a few jobs, fit a rollout out awning. DS and family were staying there so had the chance to spend a couple of hours in the sun with them, Eldest DGD (17 soon) had opted to stay at home, so we missed seeing her. The M5 was very busy, but kept moving, so each journey took 2 hours which is a record!
Ashcombe that moment when you cannot find the car happens often to me, but once in Blackpool it really was missing as someone had stolen it! Had to spend the rest of the day reporting it and going home on the train. This was in the early 90's. Only had the car a couple of months and it was never found.
Happy birthday to MrNanKate I am sure you will have a lovely day.
Congratulations to Georgesnan
Hello Fanny good to see you posting on here. Urmston you forgot the important question
Hoping Mick is ok and wishing you all a lovely day
Good morning from a balmy, damp south Cornwall, where my patio smells of mint and lemon balm. A day of sorting my flat and food for when I return from my second hip replacement, operation tomorrow, home on Wednesday, and I'm also downloading audio library books for my hospital stay. It's a lovely small private hospital used by the NHS for orthopaedics. Luxury, I'm very blessed. The best of days to all.
Good morning all from a cloudy, with bursts of sun Glasgow.
So much positive news on here today. GM what a great weekend for you family wise and the icing on the cake, you will see your beloved boy! Congratulations, Georgesgran, bittersweet emotions, I would imagine.
Elizabeth, lovely for you to be getting to church and interact with the congregation.
Happy birthday *Mr NanKate*????
A day of pottering for me today. Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!
Good morning from a beautiful sunny day here in Essex by the sea. The tide is in and I can see the sun sparkling on the water.
We went out for our first meal in six months last night but something obviously didn't agree with me and I have been up and down all night.
DH has gone to rugby with his grandsons and I am having a lazy morning.
Congratulations to Georgesgran on the birth of a new grandson, how lovely.
Safe journey home GM, glad you have had a lovely time.
I hope Mick manages to sort his gremlins out and thanks to Maw for opening up again.
Have a lovely day everyone xx
Empathetic as always Maw. It’s good to have you back again. You always say the kindest things, coming from (sadly) a place you know of yourself. I’m sure your words will resonate with Georgesgran.
?? for both of you today.
Hasy good morning, late for church, wonderful news Georgesgran, know the feeling of relief! Supposed Sunday lunch outside today for anxious DIL, DS and two DGDs, hooe the rain holds off, they would be too scared to come in!
Lins1066
Good morning from an overcast S Welsh coast.
Happy birthday to Mr NanKate ?
Good news Susan that your SiL2 is so much better.

BBQ planned for later and we will watch the Grand Prix.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where’s it’s warm but with white cloud cover. Thanks for opening up again Maw and posting Mick’s message.
Hearty congratulations Georgesgran on the safe arrival of your new baby grandson. Bet you can’t wait for a cuddle. Such a relief too I imagine for you regarding your clever girl.
Hi to you Fanny ? nice to see you on this thread! Where are you based & what’s the weather like there? Now that’s the important stuff!
Morning to you too Anniebach you pop in here every day and it’s lovely to hear from you. I hope you are doing well and enjoying some sunshine too.
We have a table reservation for 3pm for the 7 of us (stepfather & the 4 young family group) at our favourite Italian restaurant. It is literally round the corner from the front entrance here but Himself will drive over to fetch my stepfather first. I’m really looking forward to it.
Sounds as though you’ve had a wonderful visit to Bristol all round grandMattie and not to many crushed eggshells either so even better! Hope you get over to France soon Ashcombe! Are you planning an extended stay to make up for lost time? I would. Bet you are so excited to be able to go at last.
Enjoy Sunday, all who can. Life’s good. x
Happy news Georgesgran - if bittersweet.
Paw never even got to know our youngest was pregnant although he knew they had been trying , so I felt a bit like you must.
I was especially touched when she gave the baby his name as his middle name and although married for 9 years has not changed her name so DGS is xxxx Paw Broon xxxx (if you see what I mean)
?
Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest Lancashire coast.
Feeling tired at the mo, due to wonky knee I think and need to get out on my bike again. Not much to report, changed the cat food, the Felix was not going down well, so back to Whiskas. I spoil this cat but what a little pal through lockdown.
Hope you get sorted Mick and congratulations to Georgesgran
Happy Sunday to all.
Congratulations to Georgesgran, mixed emotions indeed.
