Thought I’d better hold fire in case Mick made it, but I declare this thread officially open tcrsmile

Ashcombe Sun 06-Jun-21 06:27:10

Good morning, everyone, from an overcast Torbay. Thank you, MawBe, for opening up. It must be frustrating for Mick.

Yesterday was going well with an early shopping trip to our nearby Lidl (there are two branches in Torquay) until I returned to the car park. My car wasn’t where I thought I’d left it! A moment of panic, in which I imagined it had been stolen, melted into relief when I realised I’d parked it closer to the entrance than usual and had actually walked past it! A senior moment indeed!

After church today, my friend who's had knee surgery wants me to take her shopping in Sainsbury's. She seems to be making good progress and is coping alone at home. A fiercely independent person!

Wishing everyone a joyous Sunday. ???

Good morning Maw and everyone to come.
Wishing you all a very happy Sunday, whatever you are up to x

grandMattie Sun 06-Jun-21 06:50:39

Thank you Maw.
Good morning from an overcast Bristol.
Exhausting day yeasted day. I went into town(alone, mercifully) to get some fabrics. The 100% cotton suit all for patchwork are £4.99 instead hope the £11+ I normally pay! So got plenty for my next project.
We went for a picnics lunch at?? an aqueduct for the Avon and Kennet canal over the Avon, near Bradford upon Avon. DH, who hates picnics, had a lovely time and kept thanking DD for it! Then we went on to a ruined castle/manor affair called Farleigh Huntingdon Castle. It was small but interesting; the girls loved it.
Coming home, Iris and her lady-in-waiting /servant (me) made flapjacks, brownie and fairy cakes for her sale after church this morning. She also had the idea of freezing pieces of watermelon ? onto lolly sticks as well. Hope she gets lots of money for RDA.
we’re off home this morning, to get back for DS1 out of incarceration, DS2 and GDS will be collecting him. What a joyful day! All my beloved family in one day...
May all the GraMmingos have as good a day as this, lots of flamingos ????, sun ☀️and smiles?

Beechnut Sun 06-Jun-21 06:51:31

Good Morning everyone from Severnside. It’s grey and raining.

I had a lovely lunch out yesterday with BeechNutella. The place she took me to in her village is in a very pretty setting. She bought her dog a pot of Scoop dog ice cream and he carried it part of the way home.

Today I’ll plant my runner beans if the rain stops and pot up some Hellebore seedlings.

Thank you for opening Maw and hope Mick will pop in later and we all have a good day ?

Gagagran Sun 06-Jun-21 07:04:08

Morning all from an overcast south coast. Disappointing, after a glorious start yesterday.

It was a non-stop sort of day yesterday, starting with the 7am click and collect and finally slowing down at bedtime. My days seem to be either like that, or long and uneventful. Had a lovely time with DS here, in the afternoon, for a shower and food, after his training ride, but that is now off the agenda as the big day gets nearer and his training schedule adjusts.

Safe journey back home, Mattie, with your new stash of material and all the lovely memories of happy days with your family. They are special memories and joyous to reflect on.

Hope the day is a good one for us all.

Good morning from sunny Colchester.
Quiet day here with roast beef for lunch. A quick walk to Sainsbugs for a few bits beforehand. I'm cooking as DH is out for the morning.
Sending love to all x

Morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset, those clouds threaten rain, of course - Mr C watered the garden yesterday smile

Thanks for opening up maw. Safe trip grandMattie. We’re off to a city centre hospital this morning, Mr C has an echocardiogram. Routine we hope. Then back home via family for a catch up and to share a meal.

Yesterday’s long beach walk was wonderful, few people around other than dog walkers, clear blue sky and warm sun. We sat in a park afterwards drinking coffee while being entertained by the squirrels and birds. We’ve not done either for what feels like forever, too caught up with life.

Hope Sunday brings a smile to us all.

Good morning Mick, (I hope that you are well) from warmish but rainy Lueneburg. It`s a gentle rain and that is needed. Unfortunately my friends are coming to me today and not to another friend who lives in a flat. We hoped to sit in the garden and let our dogs run around. Well, on the mobile it says that the sun will be out this afternoon. I better start tidying the lounge. The dining table is strewn with folders and papers. In my haste to look for some documents I made rather a mess. Actually, I have to clean the lounge and hall as well. I am rather a lazy gran and prefer to work in the garden, which I did yesterday. Rain, rain go away, come back another day ...
Well, I am wishing you all a very happy, pleasant day.

kittylester Sun 06-Jun-21 07:34:37

Morning all from an overcast but sticky North Leicestershire.

We spent yesterday out looking for a small garden table for when the children come. Our garden table seats 8 but it is a bit of a squeeze so we though a folding one with folding chairs would be a useful addition.

So the rain in the forecast today is our fault! And, we will be in the dining room when DD3 and co come for lunch.

dragonfly46 Sun 06-Jun-21 07:38:55

Good morning from an overcast Leicestershire.

Thank you for opening Maw.
Your story Ashcombe reminds me of when I was test driving a car for the weekend and when I came back to the car park I couldn’t remember which car it was!

Went to the garden centre yesterday which was a mistake as it was busy, then on to Waitrose who have closed their cafe. DH only comes if he can have coffee!

Walk with a friend today if the rain holds off.
Have a good journey GrandMattie and I hope everyone hasn’t good day.

NanKate Sun 06-Jun-21 07:39:44

Morning MawBe Mick when he arrives and All.

Overcast warm day here in South Bucks.

Taking DH out to lunch to celebrate his 76 birthday and raise a glass to my dear Mum who died 27 years ago today. She was always one for making a grand entrance and exit.

Picking up some salmon sarnies and gooey meringues from M and S for our tea. Maybe eat them in the garden.

Hope you have a pleasant day folks.

Susan56 Sun 06-Jun-21 07:41:53

A day at home planned today.DH hoping to get out in the garden later if the weather permits.

Have a safe journey home mattie. What a lovely time you are having with family.

Hope the appointment goes well corner.

Lins thank you for asking about SIL2.He is much better and hopes to go back to work tomorrow.

Good morning all it’s a beautiful sunny start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterday was a real downer for me here’s hoping today goes better.

We’re off to church this morning the first time in such a long while . It’ll be funny without any singing I wonder if there will be background music playing, hope so.

Yesterday’s trip to the seaside proved eventful where we had a lovely seat outside the children’s play area with the sea breeze blowing our way we had hotdogs with chips they were delicious there’s nothing like eating outside on a lovely sunny and warm day watching children eating huge ice cream cones. Then all went downhill. Too long to write up here. sad

Have a good day everyone, virtual hugs all around flowers life is getting better every day.

BlueSapphire Sun 06-Jun-21 07:47:59

Good morning everyone from a slightly grey East Northants, still at DD's. Showers forecast later.

Spent a lovely day just sat in the garden yesterday reading; we decided it was too hot for a garden centre visit. DSil very kindly set my new phone up for me, must now try and find my way around it! Had a lovely barbecue in the evening and shared a jug of Pimms with DD!

Big day today - we are going to watch live rugby! We went in the ballot for tickets and were successful, so will be watching Northampton Saints last home match of the season. We will be sitting in our 'bubble' and distanced from other spectators and spread out around the ground. Will be wearing my Saints top and cheering them on.

Thanks Maw for opening up, and trust all is ok with Mick.

Georgesgran Sun 06-Jun-21 07:50:46

Good morning from an overcast Durham. Last night DD2 was whipped into hospital and under a full GA now has a beautiful baby boy - 7lbs.
Such a relief (due to her disability) that both are safe and well. Mixed emotions that DH didn’t live see to see him arrive in this World before he left it.

Best wishes to all today and always.

Gingster Sun 06-Jun-21 07:52:16

Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk coast.

We did more gardening yesterday so my back is still achey and stiff. So annoying when you want to get things done. ?.

I hope the rain holds off for you *amselerin . When do you hope your move to Uk will be?

GranMatty pleased your visit has been so enjoyable. Hope your travelling is problem free. ?

Ash I often wonder where I’ve left my car in a large carpark. ?. I must be more observant when I park up. ?.

A walk with little pooch and then more pottering. I want to paint a coffee table for the garden, so must find a comfortable position for me to do it. Everything seems to hurt my back!

Well I hope you all have a lovely day,, whatever you get up to.☕️???‍??‍???‍????

BlueSapphire Sun 06-Jun-21 07:53:49

Just to say our rugby match is on BT tv this afternoon, so any rugby folks watching I shall be there somewhere, in the Carlsberg stand (not our usual seats).

Gingster Sun 06-Jun-21 07:53:49

Congratulations Georgesgran I’m glad all went well.

cornergran Sun 06-Jun-21 07:59:47

Congratulations georgesgran, I’m delighted all went well, can understand your mixed emotions. Look after yourself today.

maydonoz Sun 06-Jun-21 08:02:09

Good morning all from Welwyn, Herts where the sky looks rather cloudy and maybe a chance of showers later on. Hence my plan to wash the bed covers in the spare bedrooms will be deferred for another day, never do today what you can leave for tomorrow, I say!
Have the morning to potter on my own as DH is helping DS3 with his orders for tomorrow.
Will prepare meatballs for lunch with some rice and veg and finish off yesterday's soup.
Have to wait in for a delivery of nice earthware dishes that we ordered for DS2 and partner as a wedding gift, so hopefully they'll arrive safely.
Wishing all a pleasant and relaxed day whatever you may be doing.

Grandmafrench Sun 06-Jun-21 08:04:15

Good Morning everyone, well done deputy Editor Maw, come back soon Mick…….. from a beautiful Mediterranean France day.

Going to be another hot one so sprinklers are on and pots already drinking!

Hope your day will be going back ‘uphill’ today, Elizabeth and your spirits too! Hope an uneventful hospital trip calms you corner and lunch can be a small celebration.

So glad your visit was good, Mattie and there’s been no family tension to upset you. What a gorgeous little bundle Iris is……amazingly pretty hair. Will you now be off to foreign parts do you think, Ash? It seems you’ll get the all clear to enter France from the middle of this coming week.

Have a lovely birthday, Mr Nan ??? and only happy days from now on!

Breakfast outside for me will kick off a gentle day today. Tomorrow haircuts and then out to some country friend for tea.

Have the best Sunday all you Morningmingoes. Take care of yourselves and each other. x

ginny Sun 06-Jun-21 08:06:26

Good morning all.
Congratulations Gorgesgran, lovely news
Hoping for sunshine later, it is a bit dull at the moment.
Will be making shortbread and some biscuits ready for a coffee morning tomorrow . We will also pop
over for tea and a chat with MIL this afternoon.
Hope you all find a smile somewhere in the day.

Anniebach Sun 06-Jun-21 08:07:45

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Nannytopsy Sun 06-Jun-21 08:08:30

Good morning everyone. Morning Mick, wherever you are!
A rude awakening by two small children, one already dressed as Elsa, is not our normal relaxed start to the day! Once they were sure we were thoroughly awake, they have wandered off, leaving instructions for breakfast. ?
I had better get moving then ...
