My icons would be mostly from history, I think, being a bit of a nerd!
How about Elizabeth I for starters? A strong monarch in a man’s world. She absolutely would not share her power!
So too Catherine the Great of Russia. Ruthless, yes, but necessary to her time especially as she was a foreigner! She also helped popularise the smallpox vaccination by accepting it for herself and her son, so personally brave too.
Queen Isabella of Castile (mother of Catherine of Aragon). Her marriage to Ferdinand, King of Aragon unified Spain but she was the senior as Castile was a larger, richer kingdom. And she knew it!

Monroe ? Have you ever read or seen a documentary about her ? Hardly icon material. She wasn’t even very professional about her job and was a nightmare to work with though she did have other talents, apparently. If we’re dealing with that era ... Doris Day , Olivia De Haviland, Virginia Mayoh .
