Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company...

Welcome. Make yourselves comfortable and let us share our celebrations and tribulations. It's what we do best.

flowers wine brew cupcake and a multitude of virtual hugs.

soop Thu 05-Aug-21 16:23:57

Dear Muse Us lot are thinking of you. A gentle virtual group hug will be waiting when you you begin your recovery.

I am running late. A lengthy visit from "Sweetie Pie" has been the highlight of the day. She had spent the night in her cat den. First thing this morning, she's ate an entire tin of tuna in spring water. Later, a full tin of beef in jelly. Since then, ( a few minutes ago) Mr Soop has also given her a pouch of gourmet food.
I've had several jobs to start and finish. Also had a long chat with the cancer consultant regarding Letrozole. I'm to cease taking it for a further month. After which, she'll review the situation.

Have received three new photos of the great grandchildren. Toby is recovering well from heart surgery. Mila, his big sister, is a first class helper.

Yiayia4 Thu 05-Aug-21 09:41:11

Good luck today Muse hope all goes well.?

Grandmafrench Wed 04-Aug-21 23:40:12

Thank you so much NannaG, I don't think any one of us would refer to you as a gatecrasher. You're always welcome if you have a moment to post. I'm soooo tired this evening, I can hardly see, but tiredness today after a long afternoon waiting to see the Rheumatologist (for 2 of us with only 1 working leg each until recently), made me order a Pizza and salad for supper. Now, of course, I'm too full to sleep. We never eat late but the day has run away with us. Details to bore you all will follow.

Lovely reverse psychology in your comment about my comical birthday card, gill. I think we all have wishful ideas about our appearance - it's hard admitting that the years have caught up and I always try to look in the mirror without my glasses on. Much better outcome, I find, and in spite of my delusions I always feel cheered after that!

Thank you, all of you lovely peeps for your birthday wishes. It's very much appreciated.

Wanting to give a small shout to Muse who is facing the traffic and the hospital tomorrow for a biopsy. Be positive and braver than I would be, dear lady. It is going to be fine and the very best thing is 'they' are dealing with it very quickly and minimising the time for worry and uncertainty. You'll be back to your lovely looking self quick as a wink, you'll see. Hope that Mr Muse's legs are well and truly on the mend now and there will be no traffic queues or accidents to plague your journey tomorrow.

Doodle step away from all talk of exploding heads. If you don't know about it, you'll be fine. ?. Nannytopsy would I open cards or presents when it's NOT my birthday? Honestly I'm not that type of gal.

A lovely picnic and a trip out tomorrow, Blossoming. You certainly deserve that after wading through all that paperwork. From what you say, there were 6 important sheets to file - everything else to go out! I'd certainly feel Mrs Smuggins if I had completed such a task. Well worth it. I have to be in the mood to do that, but would agree it gives you a really good feeling to tidy up both mind and space sometimes. Enjoy your trip.

Fennel you are funny. We all get together here for what soop would call 'a good blether'. That can sometimes involve saying quite a lot about very little and having a thoroughly good time and a laugh whilst doing it. Don't wait for an invitation - we love your company.

Panache it seems you are also a Wisteria. How lovely. Hope you are managing a few little smiles. Sending hugs to you. x

Wonder how dear Izabella is getting on. A lot of things going on in the garden at this time of year I shouldn't wonder.

Brook you are a scream. If there's an Olympic sport for re-tracing steps, changing plans - and clothes - and being adaptable at the drop of a hat, think you're likely to get a Gold very soon! Hellogirl how grand you are needing steps to get into a car. I can't believe it's just short little legs! Anyway, be of good cheer, you do have a Hudson and Nice Hair..........

What are you eating for breakfast these days, Jax - it must be at least 3 Shredded Wheat. Your housekeeping and organising Mojo seems to have gone into overdrive. I am longing to catch up. Maybe next week - only have the hairdresser booked. The rest of the time to ourselves. Hurrah!

soop lovely to find nice things like new towels which have been long forgotten, all tucked away safely. You must, of course, use them. It's not a treat, it's what you deserve.

Hope things are not too difficult, susan and you're taking care of yourself. All other Kitcheners, I wish you a very restorative and peaceful night's sleep, corner dreaming about her lovely new car, anno fresh new drifts of that perfect climbing rose, and dusty a chilled glass of virtual champers when I get to have my postponed birthday treat hopefully next week.......legs willing.

Nighty night. ???

cornergran Wed 04-Aug-21 23:00:12

For once the day went as planned, not sure how that happened. Thoroughly enjoyed a good, long chat with my friend, I’ve missed her. The laundry dried. Listened to our goddaughters worries, she is carer for her Mum sadly to her own detriment as her own health is deteriorating rapidly. Distance means we can’t help on a practical level so it’s listening support only.

Lack of technical skill had us returning to the car dealership to sign a real piece of paper, the on line process defeated us. Not sure you’d like our choice hellogirl, I needed one much higher from the ground with high seats as well. Quite excited about it now I’ve got over the shock at the cost.

Good luck for tomorrow muse, hope the traffic is kind. I often feel I’ve nothing to contribute Fennel, sometimes just acknowledge I’m here and listen to others, we’re all different, have ups and downs, just be as you are. Enjoy your trip out tomorrow blossoming, hope there was enough rain soop, if not you are welcome to the deluge we are promised for the morning. Hope you’re still improving ann, please talk to the doctor again if not.

Time for sleep, we’re off along two motorways tomorrow for a family visit and to say a hello to my parents grave. It’s going to rain, oh well won’t shrink. Shame grin. Sleep well everyone.

Nannagarra Wed 04-Aug-21 21:54:02

Gatecrashing here but if Grandmafrench is reading I’d like to wish her a belated happy birthday. ???

Doodle Wed 04-Aug-21 20:51:36

Good luck for tomorrow Muse
Panache x much love.
Somewhere I have missed the exploding head syndrome. I am off to look it up ?

Blossoming Wed 04-Aug-21 20:50:42

Once, not nice!

Blossoming Wed 04-Aug-21 20:49:32

Wishing you all the best for tomorrow muse: hope to hear from you soon nice you’re on the mend. I have sorted through an enormous pile of old paperwork today. Most went in the shredder, some went in the recycling and 6 sheets needed to be kept and filed in the appropriate place. I’m pleased I managed to stick with it to the end, it’s been another hot day here and I was so tempted to leave it for ‘another day’! It’s very satisfying to look at the cleared space ?. Mr. B is taking me out tomorrow, this time to Pendle, as usual we’ll be taking a picnic. We’ll call into St. Mary’s Church in Newchurch, a lovely and very old building with a lot of history.

Hope you all have a good evening and a restful night lovely Kitcheners flowers

Doodle Wed 04-Aug-21 20:46:48

cornergran I’m sure your neighbour appreciates you taking time to be with her,
annsixty so pleased you have spoken to the surgery and that you are feeling a bit better today.
hellogirl lovely photos ?
grandmafrench sorry I missed your birthday. Belated happy returns. Hope you enjoyed your day.
Sorry been so busy recently it’s hard to keep up with all the kitcheners but I am reading when I can. Take care all TOYA ?

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Aug-21 20:29:30

brook absolutely right, grasp these opportunities when they happen.
I cut the grass, washed and dried curtains, weeded, then staked up my greenhouse tomatoes. I spent the afternoon on my voluntary job.
I’ve booked another food delivery for DD and GC’s in isolation, included some flowers and a magazine, that’s arriving tomorrow.
I’d better get my ideas head on for thé soop birthday bash, initial thoughts are to stock up the cocktail bar and rustle up plenty of nibbles.
Have a gentle evening all x

brook2704 Wed 04-Aug-21 19:47:44

Hope all goes ok tomorrow muse wow that’s come round quickly

What a fantastic celebration this weekend soop to look forward to. I think we need a virtual party with champagne and of course birthday cake and candles ?

No need to apologise for anything Fennel just post whatever and whenever you can. I sometimes feel I’ve nothing to contribute but just saying hello and being in soops lovely kitchen is enough. We all support and help each other when needed

Well today didn’t go at all as planned, I enjoyed my Aqua class at the gym and then I was going to meet a friend for lunch but she postponed until tomorrow. So no worries I thought I’ll go home and carry on in the garden. I got home changed into my gardening gear and just got all the paraphernalia out of the shed when DD2 messaged asking if I wanted to meet up back in town for a coffee. I always drop everything and say yes as I think it’s nice of her to ask and I never know when I’ll be asked again. So I changed back out of my gardening clothes and tootled off back into town to meet up. We had a lovely chat, well she was chatting and I was listening really as I couldn’t get a word in edgeways. I paid of course as always, but I don’t mind. Then we both went to watch DGS play football and I’ve just got home now, it was lovely to see everyone and you just have to take these moments when you can.
Well done with choosing the new car cornergran I’m such a ditherer these days and find it hard to make a decision

Jaxjacky Wed 04-Aug-21 19:36:11

You just read my mind ixion I’m here to do the same and hope MrM’s legs are improving with antibiotics!
Hope all goes well tomorrow muse x

ixion Wed 04-Aug-21 19:16:22

Just popping in to wish Muse 'Good Luck' for tomorrow's surgery.
Hope the traffic is on your side this time!

Fennel Wed 04-Aug-21 17:49:58

soop I have hearing aides and you need to replace the battery about once a week. It's so fiddly - hardly worth the effort!
The only time I really appreciate them is when I'm talking to someone face to face. Then I suppose I still use lip reading.
Sorry - I'm a very feeble contributor to this thread. My age has caught up with me,
But I remember one thing for Panache - a new plant was named after you on Gardener's World. I think it was a wisteria.

soop Wed 04-Aug-21 17:26:27

Good evening to all our lovely kitcheners. Until we meet again. smile moon

soop Wed 04-Aug-21 16:38:31

The rain clouds are gathering. We NEED it. I cannot recall when we last had a proper downpour.

corner your message certainly sounds positive. Cannot ask for more. smile

Jax Lucky you. The sunflowers are positively bursting with the joy of living.

brook I hardly dare step foot in our garden. Whenever I do, three hours later, I return in a proper disheveled state. I picked up that many sticky weed seeds on my clothing, I spent a very long time picking them off before putting the clothing into the wash.
Such phone calls are priceless. We cannot rest until we know that our nearest and dearest have arrived home safely.

anno I sympathise with you. The hearing aid was working as it should when I removed it at bedtime. This morning...not a beep. It is no longer doing the job. I'm having to rely one at the moment. It is very disconcerting as I also have to ask people to repeat themselves.
That exploding head "thingy" is more common than we think. It took me ages to fall asleep last night. Why? Because when it occurs (just three times to date), it scares the pants off me.

gillgran My best wishes for your family at this very trying time.

Mr Soop decided to open up a few zipped bags on the upper shelves of the so-called laundry room. At one time we were inundated with stored bed linen and towels etc. It was chaotic for a couple of hours. We have now filled a bag for recycling and discovered fluffy, unused, white and cream towels, given to us many years ago and kept "for best". As it's my 80th birthday at the weekend, we are going to push the boat out. It is time we enjoyed "the best". wink

Hellogirl1 Wed 04-Aug-21 11:56:53

A belated Happy Birthday Grandmafrench.
Happy new car Cornergran. I don`t drive, but 2v of my family have cars with high steps and my short fat legs won`t lift much anymore, so I need a step!
I logged onto the Tesco site about 10.50am, good job I did. My order was booked for delivery between 12 and 1pm, but they`d updated me to 11.04 till 11.34am, and delivered at 11.14.

cornergran Wed 04-Aug-21 08:02:48

Sorry I missed your birthday grandmafrench, belated good wishes to you, love the card.

Hope your family recover soon jax. Yours too gillgran. Our family have had their share of isolation, it’s odd to think how the need to isolate has become such an accepted part of our lives. Gently does it panache.

Yesterday saw us finally decide on a replacement car. Took a while to find one we are both comfortable with. Height from the floor and the seats are the major factors for me to manage fatigue and pain, the way it drives the most important for Mr C. Other than the larger than anticipated dent in the piggy bank hopefully all will be well once we collect it next week. Have no desire to do this ever again.

I’ve lunch with a GN friend to look forward to after a grocery delivery and a call from our goddaughter who is worried about her mum’s medication. The sun is shining so the washing can dry outside, it all feels positive.

Hope there’s a smile for us all.

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Aug-21 23:30:22

Happy birthday GF ??

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Aug-21 19:10:40

Commisérations gillgran, thé ups and downs of isolation, necessary, but annoying. Grandmafrench is it actually your birthday today, or are you being naughty opening cards early?
Whatever, joyeux félicitations, may you have the bestest, loveliest birthday whichever day it is ?.
Our back border, which was planted out earlier this year, has bern hijacked by self seeded sunflowers, I can’t bring myself to get rid of them, even when tiny, so here they are.
Love and a peaceful night to all x

brook2704 Tue 03-Aug-21 18:26:41

A very Happy Birthday grandmafrench I hope you’re enjoying your restful day and looking forward to celebrating again next week after all your appointments are done and dusted. When’s the surfing lessons and have they any spaces left?

Lovely to hear from you Panache take care and look after yourself ?

I’ve been gardening most of the day but you wouldn’t know it looking at the garden. I don’t know why we get so many weeds here, I think it must be the cool damp conditions . Anyhow I’m thinking of just trying to ignore them and see if they go away

Lovely photos hellogirl a really beautiful baby
Hope your DD and Imogen recover soon Jax and your DGS continues to test negative

Just had a message from DD2 to say she’s arrived home safely after her long drive today with the DGC so I can breathe a sigh of relief and relax now for the rest of the evening

dustyangel Tue 03-Aug-21 18:13:19

Panache flowers

Grandmafrench what a fantastic birthday card and a lovely friend to find it just for you.
Belated birthday wishes to you and I’ll celebrate with you when you decide to have your special day. Meanwhile ? just the one to be going on with.

annodomini Tue 03-Aug-21 18:10:28

I'm quite relieved to know about the exploding head syndrome. It seems to happen to me when I'm just drifting off. The other night I could have sworn that something had fallen over in the kitchen - but what? I went down to have a look and everything was where it should be. Now I know it was just my head exploding!
Grandmabatty, it's a sad irony that when they give up their afternoon naps, we reach the stage when we could do with forty winks.
Panache, you are a wonder. An inspiration to all of us.
Dead-heading my climbing rose has been a chore and a half! It is too high for me and I am not going to risk going up a ladder, so I used my 'grabber' to haul down the high branches to my level. It has been a sight to behold this year - a glorious display of pure pink blooms - all at the same time.
soop, I might have to join you at the audio clinic - well, not the same one, but you know what I mean. My right ear is increasingly deaf and it's difficult in a group to concentrate on what is being discussed. In a restaurant, last week, I had to keep asking my friend to repeat herself. For some time, when visiting my family, I've had to ask them to turn the sound up - just as my dad used to do. So I must confront the inevitable.

gillgran Tue 03-Aug-21 18:06:11

Happy Birthday Grandmafrench, flowers, whenever you decide to celebrate, we'll all be there. You must be glamourous for your friend to send you the card, (if it was sent to me, it would be too close for comfort, therefore an insult!!)smile.
Sounds like there will soon be another (special) birthday coming, soop.

I hope your DD & family recover quickly, Jaxjacky, what a pain this isolation is, especially for families.
Having our DS' lot a couple of weeks ago out of isolation, now our DD's DH has tested positive, so they & their 2 DDs are having to isolate in Cambridge.
We hadn't been in contact lately so we are OK.
It never rains but it pours...!!

Take Care lovely people. x

Blossoming Tue 03-Aug-21 17:51:44
