Good afternoon all in the kitchen.

Sorry to hear your daughter has been unwell Kitty I hope she is feeling better soon.

Ann that sounds like a nasty bug but glad you have spoken to the NP and got things sorted.

Welcome back Charley I missed you :-)

As always I am way behind on kitchen news so will just send you all my best wishes and hope everyone is doing well.

Our daughters are with us this weekend, no husbands or children. We try and do it once a year where we can just be 'our' family. so I am looking forward to that. Other than that and impending ,doom laden dental appointment all is well in deepest darkest Norfolk.

Happy day xx

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Aug-21 15:23:41

Good afternoon kitcheners. Annsixty I hope you are feeling better. I've been off social media for a few days as I was grumpy. Back to babysitting today. We are having a train day. We picked up my ds from the train station and the boy wonder was entranced by the train and ignored his uncle. When we got back home, he pulled out his train and has played with it while watching Thomas the tank engine. I made a lovely caramelised onion and brie quiche yesterday, cherry jam and a lemon drizzle cake so quiche and salad for tea. I hope you have a good evening

Charleygirl5 Mon 02-Aug-21 10:04:59

Ann, please be careful. I am not 100% certain you had Norovirus, mainly because you have been sick on other recent occasions.

Norovirus is highly infectious and lasts a couple of days. Pleased to hear you are feeling better now.

annodomini Mon 02-Aug-21 09:59:09

I'm relieved to hear that there's an explanation for your ailment. Ann. I hope you carry on improving. Keep the fluid intake up and only eat something if you really feel like it. When I had a tropical bug, a very experienced doctor advised not eating anything fibrous, so I existed on white bread and honey for a week!

annsixty Mon 02-Aug-21 09:09:33

I have spoken to the surgery and it seems most likely that I have had a vomiting virus which unseasonably is doing the rounds.
Two of the GP’s have also had it.
The fact that I feel better this morning is good.
I am to ring again if it returns.
Thank you all for your concern and advice, it is good to have people on your side.

annsixty Mon 02-Aug-21 08:23:18

Good morning all.
I am waiting for a call back from an advanced nurse practitioner.
I will update you.
I feel much better this morning.

kittylester Mon 02-Aug-21 07:43:50

Good morning lovely kitchener. Thank you for your kind words yesterday.

Our party went off well with lots of noise and chat and even DD3 made an appearance. She, apparently, remains an in patient but was allowed home confused She was quite spaced out but not in any pain. She has to go back in this morning for an MRI and a treatment plan.

We have some food left which DH will deliver to the homeless centre this morning.

Ann please try to make an appointment. What a shame for your DGD.

Soop, you need a special bee medal!

corner, I bet your calm presence brought your neighbour a sense of peace.

Blossoming Sun 01-Aug-21 22:31:24

Good evening lovely Kitcheners. I have had a lazy day nursing my bruises and catching up on some admin. Tomorrow Mr. B and I are going to tackle the kitchen cupboards. I’m going to sit on a big cushion on the floor and do the lower ones, while he sorts the ones I can’t reach. I won’t need to bend and I can’t fall over if I’m already on the floor grin

Hope everyone with troubles finds some relief and happier days ahead,

dustyangel Sun 01-Aug-21 22:01:18

Dear soop only for you would you would I sign in at this advanced time of night wink to catch up with kitchen news.
I love the picture of your birds of a feather. I have been trying to catch a photograph of a Portuguese member of the family. I must admit ours are bluetits but seem a bit faded, must be the sun. The trouble is that they are indeed very small birds and although our bird bath isn’t deep, all that can be seen is a multitude of splashes that don’t show up in a photograph.
We’ve seen very few bees around this year but I’m so pleased to hear that the younger generation are learning about feeding them with sugar water.

Best wishes to Annsixty, I hope you get some medical advice very soon.
I hope young Imogen is getting over her disappointment Jax. It does seem so unfair.

In our house we don’t wait until 9pm to fill our glass. Our time is between six and seven pm. so that we can make our toasts before we eat. Tonight we toasted our lovely grandson who completed the London half marathon today. He didn’t inherit that gene from me!

Doodle Sun 01-Aug-21 21:27:40

ann sorry you are feeling so unwell. I agree with the others, a trip to the Gp is needed. Sorry your DGD missed her trip.
Jax poor Imogen. She really has been going through it recently. Hope the board game cheers her up.
Take care all.

brook2704 Sun 01-Aug-21 21:12:35

Oh dear jaxj what a shame for your DD and DGC, such disappointment for them all, so lovely of you to arrange a board game and shopping though
So pleased to hear Henry’s christening went well Susan and you’ve had a lovely day
Hope your DD is better soon kitty and you’re feeling better soon Ann, take care everyone

Susan56 Sun 01-Aug-21 19:44:34

Ann hope you are feeling better but probably a good idea to speak to your GP tomorrow?

Such a shame your daughters holiday was cut short Jax ?

Henry’s Christening went really well.Unlike his cousin a few weeks ago he loved the water and kept shouting more!I didn’t take any pictures but will hopefully be sent some soon so will post one then.

Hoping for better news from kitty.

TOYA and have a peaceful night everyone?

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Aug-21 18:55:07

Hi all, ups and downs in the kitchen. kitty I hope your daughter is being treated and more comfortable, annsixty you need to be seen, ASAP, to stop you sleeping is not insignificant, may you have a gentler night tonight. I hope the christening has bought much joy Susan, it’s very deserved.
Well DD and GC’s returned from Bude earlier today, both she and Imogen tested positive on lateral flows, Imogen was in tears, having lost her surfing lesson. They’re not poorly, if they hadn’t tested, wouldn’t have known, PCR’s were scheduled this afternoon, I’ve organised a food delivery for tomorrow and a family board game from Amazon, also tomorrow, not much else I can do. Dug loads of new potatoes up earlier, I’ll give some away, they don’t keep long.
Our printer also spits out the odd blank sheet soop, v annoying.
Take care all, have a gentle evening.

soop Sun 01-Aug-21 17:50:25

Yet another sunny, warm and splendiferous day in bonnie Kintyre. Many of you are in my thoughts. It's one of those weeks, it seems, when there is someone dear to our hearts to comfort and support.

The printer has run out of two inks. Wouldn't you know it! I've ordered them and eagerly await delivery. Ever since Mr Soop treated us to this new version, it devours ink in record time. We both wish to goodness that we had not splashed out on it. Also, it quite often spits out an extra sheet of unused paper during the printing process. Buggerations with bells on.

Away to make a brew and read the Sunday paper. After which, a tasty Sunday evening supper and...woohoo...a nine o'clock G&T.

Good evening dear peoples. May tomorrow be kind to us all. smile moon

Through the window...birds of a feather...

Yiayia4 Sun 01-Aug-21 16:27:13

Anne I hope you can see your G.P tomorrow sending hugs?
Thinking of your daughter Kitty hope she is feeling more comfortable.
Susan have a lovely day.
We have just had lunch in Kingston by the river, lovely food and the sun was shining.?Can’t ask for more plus no cooking today!
For you Blossoming?

soop Sun 01-Aug-21 15:53:03

kitty Us lot will share any left overs. As it's sunny and warm, we'll have a wee garden party. grin

We helped a further twenty bees to escape a sure death under the wheels of passing traffic. Picked each one up and took them a safe distance where there is plenty of foliage. A beekeeper in the village tells us that, at this time of year, it is common for bees to get drowsy. Although the road is private, a few homes are situated at the top of it. Any bee left on the tarmac would be crushed in a trice. If we can help save a few, we feel duty-bound to do so.

soop Sun 01-Aug-21 15:46:28

Blossoming You have our respect. (((hugs))) galore.

Jax Your description of your grandchildren is totally appropriate. Happy smiles. A lovely memory.

Susan Henry deserves a sunny Christening. It is a special day for all the family.
It is also a very trying time for your family with your father-in-law being so poorly.

corner You also have a sad time to deal with. Sometimes, all that you can do, is be there.

annsixty The sooner you discuss your problem with your GP the better. Please keep us updated. We are all concerned.

Hellogirl1 Have yourself a spirit-lifting gathering with your lovely family.

cornergran Sun 01-Aug-21 15:04:30

Definitely make an appointment ann, that's not good. Hope you are more comfortable now and your surgery understands how important it is for you to be assessed properly. What a shame for your granddaughter, a huge disappointment.

Hope you've all thoroughly enjoyed Henry's christening susan. I'm sorry you father in law's care isn't as perhaps it should be.

Spent some time with our friend and neighbour this morning, she is fading physically but very alert mentally and throughly enjoys company in small doses. She has talked me through her funeral plans and those for a wake, hopes we can be at both. Of course we will if it's possible, she's a good friend and a good woman who will be very much missed. She was much reassured by a visit from a GP who talked her through the steps they will take to manage her pain, I have some doubts about patient contact here but can't fault them with her.

annsixty Sun 01-Aug-21 14:35:24

I hope you have a lovely day Susan
It has not been a good weekend at Sixty Towers.
The father of two of my GC lives in Bermuda and they go each August to stay, of course now they have not seen him for two years.
There has been so much hassle this time, could they go? Couldn’t they go?
They had to be vaccinated and flights ,not frequent yet, organised.
On Friday evening my D was arranged slots for the fit to fly certificates when to her absolute horror she found out that my GD’s passport expires the day after they are due to fly out.
She was still on a child’s passport when it was renewed and that only lasts five years.
After lots of ringing to try to get it sorted, no appointments anywhere but Belfast available in time very reluctantly my GD is not going.
Her brother will go on his own, she is very disappointed but it happened the right way as my GS would have been devastated, he adores his father and really misses him.

Second thing, I am still in bed, I have been vomiting all night, really bad, and I am in a lot of pain, I couldn’t sleep.
My S ate the same meal so it wasn’t that.
This is the third time in three weeks, but once I had vomited the last twice I have been fine and no pain.
I will have to see someone I think, a problem in itself, oh well.

I hope everyone else is well and has a good day and a good week .

Susan56 Sun 01-Aug-21 09:07:15

Hi everyone, haven’t posted for a while as the situation with FIL is dire and not looking to get any better.Talk about lack of care.Growing old is not for the faint hearted.

So sorry that your daughter is so unwell kitty and hope for better news soon???

I am so behind on everyone’s news but you have all been in my thoughts.

Henry is being Christened today and the sun is shining. My lovely niece and family are staying locally so we spent a lovely evening with them yesterday.Definitely counting our many blessings at the moment and trying to remain upbeat??

I will pop back later and try to catch up on all the news.Have a lovely day all who have outings planned and thoughts to all struggling?

Hellogirl1 Sat 31-Jul-21 23:06:22

So sorry about your daughter Kitty, hope they find out something very soon. There won`t just be leftovers tomorrow, there`ll be enough for another party!
I`m looking forward to going out tomorrow, but not looking forward to having to get all Lynne`s food prepared ready for the carers to warm up for her. I`m being picked up at 1pm.
Blossoming, keep on confounding the experts!
TOYA

Doodle Sat 31-Jul-21 22:15:50

Evening all. kitty so sorry about your daughter. Hope they find out what’s wrong and can make her more comfortable soon.
TOYA ?

cornergran Sat 31-Jul-21 21:50:27

I’m sorry kitty you must be more than worried. I know you’ll be looking after the family but please look after yourself too flowers.

Jaxjacky Sat 31-Jul-21 19:13:33

kitty thoughts are with you at this worrying time x
I’m pleased your hairdresser has given you a boost * blossoming*, may you continue to prove them all wrong. A fall shakes anyone up, for you, a bit shakier maybe, ??.
Yia, so, so clever, you must be well pleased ??.
DD and GC’s have been at the Eden project today, all very tired, I’ll leave you with wishes for a peaceful evening and the delightful Imogen and typical 8 year old Finley xx

Blossoming Sat 31-Jul-21 19:00:56

Good evening lovely kitcheners. Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement yesterday, I don’t often get so low but these are challenging times. Panache lovely to hear from you, I hope you find support in the days and months ahead, I did indeed feel much better after my trip to the hairdresser, they are lovely friendly girls and always raise a smile. Plus they make me look glam and I come out feeling like a million dollars.

The big girl pants are well and truly pulled up and I have a couple of exercise options in mind. Almost 18 years ago Mr. B was told I was unlikely to survive, and if I did I would have very limited functions. I’ve been fighting it ever since and I’m not giving up now.

Thank you for listening ?
