Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

Callistemon she’s the same dress size as she was in her twenties! ?

Aren’t we all ???. Actually I am (for my Late twenties) but differently distributed and definitely wobblier

FC, I never really thought about it. Children’s looks are a bit like brains.
A combination of 2 first class degrees doesn’t always mean the children will be clever. Sometimes the children get a combo of the least attractive features or weakest skills and sometimes, they’re just not photogenic.

I knew a family and both parents were very, very plain but both children were just beautiful.

Mine, thank goodness, do not take after me. ?

Didn't some woman gush at Albert Einstein , "We should have a child together, with my looks and your brain!" He replied, "But, madam, what if it gets my looks and your brain?"

I thought that was Winston Churchill

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jul-21 10:59:56

I thought it was Einstein and Marilyn Monroe…

Lucca I am quite literally twice the woman I was! It’s really quite astonishing

I believe you have every reason/excuse though Fanny.

I admire Anne. She was very beautiful when she was young. I think her wedding dress was lovely but I didn’t like the sleeves. Diana’s dress was of it’s time, I liked Fergie’s dress, I liked Catherine’s and Meghan’s, but I didn’t like the emphasis on the bra/bosom bit on Catherine’s. I thought Meghan’s dress could have been very slightly tighter to fit her to its best advantage. I loved Eugenie’s dress, especially the back, and I thought Beatrice’s dress was absolutely lovely and so unusual. It was a lovely idea to use her Grandma’s dress and alter it.
The niece of Diana who got married at the weekend wore a lovely dress. I liked it all except the high, puffed shoulders and the high neck.
I don’t suppose any of them give one jot what any of us think though. Which I’d good, because every bride should look beautiful on her wedding day, wearing the dress of her dreams, and whether she smiles or she doesn’t smile.

Thank you Lucca

Guess whose wedding dress this was!

Callistemon Mon 26-Jul-21 11:28:46

I bet that was Wallis Simpson's - it looks very 'her' and it is blue.

Lucca Mon 26-Jul-21 11:30:34

Oh good thinking Callistemon

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jul-21 11:31:16

Yes! ?

Callistemon Mon 26-Jul-21 11:32:24

Am I right?

Probably I've seen it at some point, in fact I know I have, although I wasn't there a the time!

eazybee Mon 26-Jul-21 11:33:14

Has anyone mentioned Sarah Ferguson's dress; she looked lovely and the dress was beautiful.
Diana's dress was a huge disappointment, such a shame as she appeared in two beautiful dresses shortly afterwards; one at the State opening of Parliament (I think) and one by Belville Sassoon.

An Australian edition - you'd know that lovely Crown Princess Mary would be No 1!

Studied them all! grin Number 10 and 38.

34 is weird, looks like upholstery.

Imagine having these names
Prince Jean-Christophe Napoleon Bonaparte and Countess Olympia von und zu Arco-Zinneberg. ????

I particularly love the von und zu

Ellianne Mon 26-Jul-21 12:12:49

Yes 34 looks like cushion covers, but strangely I knew exactly which one you meant. So memorable in its own way!

FannyCornforth Mon 26-Jul-21 12:13:00

I just came on to say that 34 is my favourite!
Princess Mabel in Victor & Rolf.
It’s got a real 60s vibe

Ellianne Mon 26-Jul-21 12:13:28

.... without looking is what I should have said.

Ellianne
Congratulations on your new woofer!
I bet that you are chuffed to bits.
I sent you a pm asking his (are they a he?) name.

Can you give us a clue?

(You know how controversial names are on here!)

Ellianne Mon 26-Jul-21 13:11:56

Thanks Fanny, pm sent to you.

Please don't anyone laugh. His name is Henry (Harry!) grin grin grin I'm not sure how that happened actually.

I hope he doesn't end up biting the hand that feeds him!!

Calendargirl Mon 26-Jul-21 13:27:05

And as well as the dress, The Queen also loaned Beatrice the tiara that she had worn on her own wedding day.

Think that must trump all the other loaned tiaras.

sodapop Mon 26-Jul-21 15:18:21

I thought Camilla looked very elegant on her wedding day.
