Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

I feel that at this juncture I need to post something actually relating to the RF.
So I will have a look at what’s in the news today.
Unfortunately I’m too stupid to do links, so you will just have to take my interpretation of it.

Elegran

Well, a merryman was a jester and was usually a cheeky chappy and ready for all kinds of naughtiness. Perhaps his backside went up and down like the fiddler's elbow (another saying) ?

More about merrymen

Interesting! A gold star ⭐️ for research Lucca!

nadateturbe Thu 09-Sep-21 09:20:38

Gold star indeed Lucca! More than I could find on internet.
FannyCornforth yes it did occur to me that we were wandering a bit far from the RF!

FannyCornforth Thu 09-Sep-21 09:25:15

Actually I really like chatting about any old thing smile

FannyCornforth Thu 09-Sep-21 09:26:53

For the third thread, which, I assure you, there will be, come hell or high water; I’ll have to think of a ‘more inclusive’ title!

What was the meaning of saying a whipping boy?

A young boy same as prince who took a beating for the princes transgressions.

And today Charles doesent want to admit 'cash for honours' though a photo of him, awarding in a private ceremony, said person in question the honour. Blame his aide.

Anniebach Thu 09-Sep-21 09:59:32

Who released the photograph of a private ceremony?

Grany Thu 09-Sep-21 10:03:49

The ceremony shouldn't be private cash for honours Dint you know

It seems their interview didn’t go down too well at the tv awards.

Oh, sorry.
Not in the middle of Cardiff then, which might have a larger footfall?

Anniebach Fri 10-Sep-21 22:15:43

Could it be Aberdare or even Mountain Ash ?

Josianne Mon 20-Sep-21 15:31:51

Is there still room on this thread to announce the arrival of the Queen's 12th great grandchild? A baby girl for Beatrice and Edouardo. No name yet, hope there is a pretty Italian choice somewhere.

Anniebach Mon 20-Sep-21 18:06:15

A new little life. Yes a pretty Italian name .
