And finally, Good Morning everyone! Slightly cooler - but not much in a Sizzly South where a slow start has been made on a Friday morning here!
So sorry, Ash - life is so cruel sometimes. Mattie I never commented (where brain?) on your lovely garden makeover. Well done! Have you picked up Alizarin's flying GS circus act for your little GS, Scentia? You could train them both up for future display purposes perhaps and if you have time in retirement, you could become their Agent. Take care of that shoulder, please. A very happy anniversary to TheLinns - enjoy your day. ? (And room service should be encouraged on other days, as well!) Alizarin we have Wagtails which behave like budgerigars with our car wing mirrors. Hours spent talking to themselves - presumably looking for little mates! GrandmaB is that THE James Taylor of Fire and Rain fame? If so, I am very envious - although when I watch his concerts on Youtube I tend to cry! Not ideal for an evening out - maybe I'm crying for my lost youth?! ? I saw Logan's pic on soop kitchen - he is getting beyond cute, I think. There's nothing like suddenly remembering a little 'stash', Grandmadinosaur, but sad you have to hand it over to your Dentist!
Dwmx - how horrible, maggots. But I'm more concerned that you don't sound as if you have regular refuse collections? We have two a week and a third for recycling - in this heat no wonder you have a fly problem. Good luck with the gazebo deconstruction! B9 have the most wonderful time, but you will surely be almost jet-lagged if you go off anywhere else anytime soon! Think we've all suffered from being stuck in one place and once the brakes are off, so to speak, we are all determined to go a bit bonkers. Bet your DH is thrilled with his present. Photos must be provided ! Lovely to hear from you again Georgesgran - enjoy your sleepover. Bet you are putty in his cheeky little hands, Gwen. Sounds as if he's certainly got your number!
I too was outdoor sewing yesterday morning, muse when we received a 'phone call and invitation for yesterday evening. Too good an opportunity to miss so we turned up with a very nice bottle and our 'off to have fun' faces at 7pm. We arrived home at 2.00am and so this morning has been a quiet one!!!
Obviously someone has to be the driver and I don't do late post-fun disputes with Gendarmes, so I am always very careful.
But we had the most marvellous evening. Huge old wine merchants' house with 3 apartments, a solid glass floor in half the hallway showing a lit underground stream, a large pool, and a large family on holiday with Grandma at Grandma's holiday home. So...Son, Daughter, DIL, SIL, 3 GCs , DIL's Sister, DIL's BiL and 2 small children - and us. DIL and her Sister, both trained cooks, provided the most amazing buffet. A massive barbecue fire was started (super in high temperatures, Not!), and before this a Table Tennis Championship had been organised. Lots were drawn, matches were played and DH won a huge bottle of very nice wine for us. Since he was the oldest player there, he was extremely proud and as they all said he 'did the English proud".
We had Oysters and then all sorts of lovely food accompanied by spicy merguez sausages which the local butcher gets from Spain and chicken wings. Someone had made a superb chocolate cake for desserts and there were sorbets and also fresh fruit. After lots of happy conversation, someone's dog fell into the pool with the children (well, that's what the children said!!!!) and at that moment we all saw a spectacular moon just hanging over the water in the distance. It was so low we felt we could have touched it.
Rather optimistic promises were made for some of the chaps to meet up before breakfast and while the beaches were cooler and quiet, for some fishing. Mmmm what a good idea, said absolutely no one this morning! This will take place next week now, I think. Lots of people are desperate for a re-match but Granddadfrench is unwilling to give up his title just yet, so we shall see.
Enjoy the (last of?) the sunshine and good weather for a while, everyone. Take care outing and abouting and have the happiest of weekends to come, dear GMers. I'm off for lunch and maybe a bit of a lie down. ? ( I need to brace myself for the next exciting invitation.)
