I have been on here I think for a couple of years now and I have noticed some very weird and wonderful user names
and wonder if anybody would like to share the origin of theirs?..

After watching the Olivia Hussey version of Juliet in the Zeffirelli film I remember sobbing all the way home. The name sticks.

Because I like them

The first name which came to mind was my sisters name and that’s been my username ever since grin it’s been great fun over the years to meet up with folks and find out their real name. Thank you to those people whom I see every week on a zoom meet up. You keep me going. flowers

Oh and by the way I had a really good night last night watching the tv awards where my favourite program Line of Duty got full recognition as did the actors on it.

Well done to all they were all very good.

Curlywhirly

It rhymes with part of my name and was my nickname at primary school - and it has nothing to do with my hair - which is straight!

Are you me? One of my names at school was curlywhirly because of my surname and my hair is straight.

Is your name of Irish origin?

maydonoz Fri 10-Sept-21 09:35:32

Hi Shinamae
Yes I also found it interesting and was curious regarding other GN's usernames so I started a thread on it about a year ago. Since then of course we've had many new members.
Mine is the Turkish word for parsley to reflect on my interest in cooking and the many years spent in Turkey, my DH from there.
I will enjoy reading about the new usernames.

Franbern Fri 10-Sept-21 09:47:41

My parents first names were Frances and Bernard. Franbern keeps them both in my mind.

Elless Fri 10-Sept-21 10:06:49

Mine is simply my initials L S smile

henetha Fri 10-Sept-21 10:08:56

I grew up with hens, lots of them.

Scribbles Fri 10-Sept-21 10:38:32

Because I'm a writer and was always scribbling down notes and ideas as they came to me. Not so much these days though: my 'scribbling' is electronic, tapped into my phone.

DanniRae Fri 10-Sept-21 15:43:47

I wish I could tell you all............but best that I don't blush

fairfraise Fri 10-Sept-21 16:23:12

Mine is a way of describing my hair - sort of red going blonde with bits of silver in it. My version of strawberry blonde!

Grandmajean Fri 10-Sept-21 16:28:48

I must have done something stupid because I kept trying "clever" names and couldn't get anything accepted. Finally did my own and got in so thought I'd quit while ahead !wink

lemongrove Fri 10-Sept-21 20:41:39

Had a wonderful Italian holiday, set in a lemon grove?smile

Forestflame Fri 10-Sept-21 21:29:59

I live on the edge of one of the most beautiful forests in the country. I also have a Forest Flame plant in my garden.

annodomini Fri 10-Sept-21 22:40:21

I adopted my name when I was 'feeling my age' which must have been at least ten years ago. So no it's even more apposite.

annodomini Fri 10-Sept-21 22:40:56

NOW it's even more apposite.

JenniferEccles Fri 10-Sept-21 22:41:03

I especially love your idea Franbern
I wish I had thought of that with my parents’ names.

Katek Fri 10-Sept-21 23:42:05

Abbreviation of my middle name and a random letter- there was meant to be a full stop before last letter but I forgot! Think I now sound like an Egyptian pharaoh which wasn’t the original intention
