I was awake and making tea at 2.00 am however I couldn’t get my IPad to link onto the Internet so I just played 4 games of solitaire and then listened to a sleep story on CALM and fell asleep till 7.00. I thought it was just me. I’ll look out for you all next time.

Anyone around. I seem to have developed gout. My foot is excruciatingly painful, hardly any sleep. I’ll have to sit on the surgery doorstep as my phone is out of order, no mobile phone… not a good night!

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 05:01:01

That sounds very painful grandMattie. I have googled and ibuprofen seems to be recommended, if you have any. Or something cold. But perhaps you've tried that. I hope you manage to see the doctor. Whats wrong with the phone?

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 05:05:33

Don’t tolerate ibuprofen…
Why aren’t you sleeping?

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 05:09:04

Don’t know why the phone isn’t working. BT coming on Friday, “urgent” house call for OAP!

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 05:11:48

What a shame. I can't take them either. Pity because they are good for pain.
I'm often awake now during the night. If I waken I'm awake for 3-4 hours. I've given up fighting it. I check my phone and then read. But I have M.E. so it doesn't help that.

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 05:13:10

Actually M.E. might be partly to blame.

Thats a long wait!

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 05:15:53

Sorry about your ME. It’s a pig, isn’t it?
I don’t sleep well anyway. I’ve stopped worrying, lie awake and wait for 4ish to get up.

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 05:21:46

Goodness thats an early start. You must go to bed very early.
If I lived alone I would get up early too but I would waken my husband.

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 05:28:56

Go to bed with DH at about 10 normally. Got used to lack of sleep! ☹️

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 05:38:34

Yes, I think you're body adjusts eventually.
It's strange that you have internet but no phone.

Well I'm off to read. I usually keep some light novels on my kindle for early hours.
Relaxing day ahead. Husband plays with a group in a local cafe today (fame at last!) and I get some time alone at home - unusual these days.
I hope you get sorted at the doctors and have a better day than night, grandMattie.

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 05:43:00

Enjoy!

‘morning Nadateturbe and Mattie.
I do hope that you get through to your GP, and get some joy with them Mattie. Gout is the last thing that you need.
I’ve heard that a drink called Cherry something or other (the name slips my mind; it’s ultra concentrated morello cherry juice) works absolute wonders on gout and other related ailments. I think that gout is a type of reactive arthritis. (I could be wrong).

FannyCornforth Wed 22-Sept-21 06:38:38

I’ve just looked on Amazon. It’s called Cherry Active, and it’s reassuringly expensive! It also gets good reviews for easing fibromyalgia too

grandMattie Wed 22-Sept-21 07:16:32

Thanks, Fanny, I’ll look it up.

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 09:18:43

Good morning and thank you FannyCornforth I will research that too. I have fibromyalgia.
Just looked out the bathroom window. The fuschia is in full bloom and its a beautiful sunny morning.
I hope you all have a good day.

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 09:19:33

it’s reassuringly expensive grin

FannyCornforth Wed 22-Sept-21 10:23:05

I think that I’m going to take up my own recommendation too! See if it does anything for my osteoarthritis, and DH’s rheumatoid arthritis.
We can all trial it together! ?

nadateturbe Wed 22-Sept-21 17:31:06

I think I'll wait until someone tells me what it tastes like as some people apparently find it unpalatable. I bought cbd oil which was horrible used it once and felt really sick. I usually have blueberries with my porridge so in the meantime I think I'll swop to cherries. According to my limited research its helpful for blood pressure and preventing type 2 diabetes.

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Sept-21 05:21:51

‘morning all.
I’ve been looking into Cherry Active, and there is also Beetroot Active, Blueberry Active, and another one which slips my mind.
So now I’m even more confused as to which one should be the best for my various ailments.
I do know that Beetroot juice is amazing for lowering blood pressure. In the past I’ve bought just bog standard stuff from Asda for DH, and it did work.

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Sept-21 05:24:20

Nadateturbe you’re right, CBD oil is disgusting.
And in my experience, completely useless too.
And expensive (not reassuringly so, in this particular case!)

grandMattie Fri 24-Sept-21 05:31:29

Trouble with all that stuff is that if they don’t work, you’ve wasted a load of money. And then what do you so with the left-overs?

Mollygo Fri 24-Sept-21 05:34:40

Never tried any of those. I knew beetroot is good for blood pressure, but I’ve only ever roasted it, not taken it medicinally.
I think we might be having a lot more to offset the current surge of panics.

FannyCornforth Fri 24-Sept-21 05:37:25

You’re not wrong there Mattie
I’ve mentioned this on here before, that up until recently, I suffered with terrible hair loss for years.
I honestly dread to think of how much I’ve spent on snake oil trying to sort it out. I’ve bought every pill and potion going. It must be in the region of £1,500
Turns out it was a Vitamin D deficiency
