Apparently GM is being held in solitary confinement, abused by guards daily and fed rotten food. There is a picture of her looking pitiful and bruised. Does anyone think this a true reflection of her situation bearing in mind that America is the land of litigation? Surely her legal team would be raising merry hell on her behalf. I just don’t think that she could be treated that way for the length of time she has been imprisoned without questions being asked. Is it a ploy for sympathy to be given to her? What do you all think?

You are a case in point re. my post of 13.02.

You now say:
'She deserves everything she's getting dumped on her, vile piece of work.'

Are you party to facts not known to the courts, barristers, newspapers, the world?

If so, you should share your knowledge.

If you have none, please do not conflate what other people, yes, not least members of her family, have done.

She is charged with what she is alleged to have done and will be judged accordingly.

I don’t imagine for one moment that Mr Epstein killed himself, no matter how it appeared.

Think about his “friend/client” list…

Trump
Prince Andrew
Leon Black
Woody Allen
Jes Staley (Barclays Bank Chief)
Bill Clinton
Harvey Weinstein

Not known for their respect for women, generally.

Ms Maxwell is to face trial. No wonder they’re watching her like a hawk.

Candelle, the issue with Ms Jeffrie as I understand it is that she was under the age of consent in the state where the alleged offence took place. This is aside from any allegations of coercion or trafficking. The current case is not a criminal one against Andrew, it is civil. I hope I have got that right.

JenniferEccles Tue 16-Nov-21 14:13:56

Out of interest, when is the trial?

Silvertwigs Tue 16-Nov-21 14:17:31

@ Whitewavemark2 well said! I’ve read some of these posts and as an ex prison worker, like isn’t that bad compared to their victims you know?

Paperbackwriter Tue 16-Nov-21 14:20:39

Calistemon

I'll repeat it:

Seen on Twitter:
Ghislaine's close friend, Georgie Greig, is editor of the Daily Mail

Other news media may report it but someone has to be the source.

Isn't it Geordie, not Georgie?

Calistemon Tue 16-Nov-21 14:23:06

Yes, you're right, Paperbackwriter

Typo!

GillT57 Tue 16-Nov-21 14:23:36

JE I think it starts on 29th November, but the first few days or so are likely to be taking up with choosing and rejecting the jury and other such matters.

Sheilasue Tue 16-Nov-21 14:35:58

It’s down to human rights but I think USA’s are bit different to ours.

Candelle Tue 16-Nov-21 15:02:20

GillT57 I understand that the age of consent in New York is 17 and in London it is 16.

GillT57 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:08:09

Candelle

GillT57 I understand that the age of consent in New York is 17 and in London it is 16.

California is 18, some US states are 16, some 17.

lilydily9 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:09:32

Any sympathy I have is for the victims of Epstein and Maxwell.

GillT57 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:13:46

I too have sympathies for the victims of Epstein and his friends, Maxwell is not yet found guilty. This does not stop me being appalled at the conditions in which remand prisoners are apparently being held. It isn't a case of either/or.

Jillyjosie Tue 16-Nov-21 15:24:32

I think the girls were probably groomed and already estranged from their parents rather like the abuse rings here.
From the little I've read, it sounds as though they were tempted by money and stardom and were in too deep by the time they realised. It all sounds very sordid.

Tbh I think we all agree that the USA penal system is pretty bad, however, there is absolutely nothing that any of us can do about it, but to focus on that it is taking away attention from the trial and the charges.

Maxwell is NOT the victim here.

Calistemon Tue 16-Nov-21 15:27:36

There is a lot of conjecture on here about a case which is sub judice.

hmm

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:33:35

Yes but as it is taking place in USA there is therefore no contempt under U.K. law, and everything we have written about is out in the public field there is no case to answer?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:38:10

Many police tapes of evidence are in the public field as well as videos

Iam64 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:44:52

Ms Jeffrie is a witness against G Maxwell. Describing her as ‘chasing Prince Andrew’ is victim blaming of a particularly misogynistic kind. It’s alleged She was 14/15 when GM picked her up outside school. She was vulnerable in the way children targeted by adults who groom them for child sexual exploitation are.
The age of consent varies in different US states. It’s 16 here and it’s alleged VG was 17 when she was trafficked by JE and GM - trafficked individuals can’t give informed consent

Fair point, I doubt that an American Jury is avidly reading Gransnet ?

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Nov-21 15:56:36

?? we do get USA grans though sometimes. Clearly people with good taste.

Anniebach Tue 16-Nov-21 16:36:09

Ms Jeffrie met Ms Maxwell when she sitting reading a book on
massage therapy in Trump’s private club

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Nov-21 17:16:35

I think more accurately Maxwell approached Jeffrie.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 16-Nov-21 17:17:30

Jeffre was a locker room attendant at the time.

MerylStreep Tue 16-Nov-21 17:39:33

Why do poster keep referring to her as Jeffre when her name is Giuffre
