Mary,I hope the appointment goes well, that you get the answers you need and that the traffic isn’t as bad as you fear??

Safe journey Urms?

Thinking of GrannySomerset and her DH.

Have the best day you can everybody.??

baubles Fri 07-Jan-22 08:29:29

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where we awoke to a blanket of snow.

Hope your appointment goes well Matydoll. Safe trip Urms, very civilised, I used to keep some things at my mother’s house so I could do the same.

Thinking of GrannySomerset.

I’m feeling rather rough today, woke up with a banging headache but DH has jus brought me a couple of paracetamol so I’ll stay abed for a little while.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day. ??

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

ginny Fri 07-Jan-22 08:45:37

Good morning. Quite a frost outside but the sun is up so it all looks rather pretty.
Strange dreams last night involving white rhinos, a zoo visit with my mum and background music by the Beatles.
My Nephew had another scare on Wednesday ( heart attack last week)he collapsed at my brothers house. They think he had a seizure.
DD2 has been poorly for a week now. Not covid but has felt really rough. Hopefully will improve soon.
A day of bits and bobs for me, can’t seem to concentrate on much at the moment.
I hope all the various appointments and visits go well and that everyone can enjoy a smile or two .

Gwenisgreat1 Fri 07-Jan-22 08:48:21

Good morning all from Chilly Harrogate
Was planning a trip to Knaresborough but it looks a bit icy out there, so maybe not today. Had DGD yesterday for a short time after school. She always has to take something home from our house. Basically she is gradually transferring our mess to DDs house!
I’m dead jealous Urms Of you and Pant in warmer climes leaving us to freeze here - safe journey anyway!
Hopeyour appointment goes well Marydoll dont envy your drive though Glasgow in icy weather
Thinking of you Grannysomerset
Have the best day possible folks

Grandmajean Fri 07-Jan-22 08:49:38

Good morning all from a very wet and cold South Yorkshire. The dog has poked his head out of the door and then retreated but he'll be persuaded out for walkies shortly. We'll be having the grandchildren after school and overnight so that will keep us occupied.
Good luck on your journey Urms I will be following you next Friday. We are covered for covid on our annual insurance. I made himself ring up and check his earlier this week as I didn't think it was clear but he is covered.
Good luck with your appointment Marydoll and will look forward to reading about it tomorrow.
Thoughts with Grannysomerset ?
Have a good day all

Good Morning everyone from an overcast south coast. Looks like rain to me but DH and his cycling buddy are still planning on a ride out this morning.

The trip to the theatre yesterday to see The Nutcracker was a bit like the curate's egg. Good in parts. The second half was better than the first. Some spectacular lifts for the ballerina playing Clara and she and the leading man were easily the best. We also found the seats quite uncomfortable, being very close to the ones in front, so those of us with dicey knees did not enjoy being jammed in. Other than that, it was great to be with friends in a social scene - everyone in masks throughout. DH acted as taxi driver there and back and as it was lashing with rain and black as pitch when we came out at 5pm, made me relieved at not having to face the rush hour behind the wheel. I don't see well in the dark.

Nothing on the agenda for the next few days apart from the click and collect tomorrow so I must finish my shopping list.

Hope you soon feel a bit brighter baubles.

Safe travels Urms and anyone else travelling today.

Have GrannySomerset in my thoughts along with Marydoll on her visit to see the consultant.

Have the best day you can everyone sunshine

NannyJan53 Fri 07-Jan-22 08:59:21

Good morning from a Black Country with a bright blue sky, albeit very cold.

Didn't do a lot yesterday except to make and Orange Marmalade cake. Then we started looking at dates to start planning trips in the caravan this year.

Safe travels Urmston we have not been to Malaga since Sept 2018, hopefully go next year as we have booked Portugal Sept this year. That's a good price for yearly travel insurance. I'm sure we paid over £100 2 years ago when we l
last needed it.

Hoping your appointment goes well Marydoll and you get the answers you need.

Wishing you all a good day,

Alygran Fri 07-Jan-22 09:03:46

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s clear and cold today after lots of overnight rain.
Yesterday’s trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park was an adventure! The A1(M) was closed so I detoured via Knaresbrough and Leeds. I haven’t driven through the centre of Leeds for 20 years! I arrived 45 minutes late and it started to snow. It was lovely to see the DDs and DGS. We had a nice cold wet walk and saw some amazing sculptures including Captain Tom and shoes made from pans. £6 entry fee was well worth the money.
Today I am helping a friend who is moving out while renovations happen at her house then off to the cinema this evening to see West Side Story.
Safe travels Urms, hope the appointment gives you answers Mary, thoughts with GrannySomerset and all those who are poorly.
For everyone, have a good safe day.

Stilllearning Fri 07-Jan-22 09:08:40

Good morning from snowy S Lanarkshire, it’s very pretty when you don’t need to go out in it. Sorry you are feeling rotten baubles, hope the paracetamols do the job.

Another good night’s sleep, such a relief. Today I’m going to tackle that drawer in the kitchen that we all have, and a, see what treasures I find and b, vow to keep it that way from now on. Familiar anyone?

Online mass this morning, remembering GrannySomerset and all who need it.

Hope your journey and appointment go well Marydoll and safe journey Urms. I look forward to postings from the sunshine!

Wishing everyone a good day ???

Morning Mick and All.

Thinking of you today Marydoll. ?

Mapleleaf Fri 07-Jan-22 09:19:55

Good morning,

Mixed weather here this morning varying between sunshine to rain to sleety snow. One thing is certain, it’s chilly out there.

Had a busy day yesterday taking down the Christmas trees and putting all the baubles away, so the rooms are now back to normal. It always feels a bit drab once the trees with their bright lights are away, but I’ve got a few lamps back in the room that offer a nice, warm glow.

Those of you off on your travels, enjoy your holidays

? for all with worries and Ill health.

Take care everyone.

Pittcity Fri 07-Jan-22 09:28:18

Good morning from a bright, dry Colchester.
I'm running late this morning having got bogged down with this and that first thing.
I'm expecting delivery of a dehumidifier this morning. Once that has arrived and is doing it's thing I'll take a walk to town to pick up bits that I couldn't get in Lidl yesterday.
I also have to do battle with Amazon as I suddenly can't buy Kindle books. I've phoned twice already but they can find nothing wrong.

Love to all ? x

GrannySomerset Fri 07-Jan-22 09:35:16

Another waiting day which is becoming very wearing. Will visit later but need to do some admin first - providing I can concentrate long enough.

Thinking of Marydoll and all those with a difficult day ahead. Bon voyage , Urmstongran, I look forward to some virtual sunshine soon.

Georgesgran Fri 07-Jan-22 09:36:54

Good morning from Durham. We had quite a bit of snow yesterday, but it’s gone now. DD2 has finally secured a face to face appointment with her GP - she’s been quite unwell since September, so I hope she can get some answers.
Parcel to post and getting 4 new tyres (and a hefty bill) this afternoon.
Hope our poorly and sad GNs have a better weekend.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jan-22 09:43:24

I was quite out with my guess for our travel insurance! Good job I don’t do the household accounts.

It was £115 for the 2 of us, a 15 month policy.

BlueSapphire Fri 07-Jan-22 09:55:35

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, with a frost on the summerhouse roof. A day at home and I plan on getting the duster out after taking down the decorations. Should have done it yesterday but ran out of time.

Started back at ballet yesterday afternoon; we have moved location to a freezing cold church hall, with no heating on, and a wide-open door. None of us managed to stay warm, so shall be wearing thermals and gloves next week! One advantage though; it has a lovely polished wood floor which makes some steps much easier.

Then in the evening to see West Side Story with a couple of friends. Really enjoyed it and the three of us were entranced by the glorious music. Some of it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. But we thought it was much darker than the original. I need to watch the original again.

Might have a look at the cinema website and see if there is anything good on this weekend.

Hope today goes well for all, especially Marydoll.

EllanVannin Fri 07-Jan-22 10:03:08

Good Morning All x.
Flurries of sleet and hailstones here every now and again with a breeze whipping up making it feel colder.

I do need milk today after having been heavy handed with the macaroni cheese dish yesterday. As usual, I made enough for the " normal " family grin and ended up using a large Pyrex dish to fit it all in. I made short work of half of it so the other half will do me today. It was just delicious though although I say it myself. Baked and brown on top,yum !

Usual fish dinner will do tomorrow----then it'll throw me because I'll be thinking it's Friday . Days are the same for me anyway.

I'll be thinking of Marydoll today. You brave lady !
Also GrannySomerset and her sad situation.
ginny too with her worries.
Those who aren't feeling too clever as well. Hope the headache clears baubles , cold weather causes these.

Safe journey Urms and enjoy your stay. I might even track your flight if I remember. I'm not stalking, honest, as I do track flights now and again if I know someone is flying away.
3, or was it 4 years ago, I tracked D's flight from Oz when they were here visiting and also on their return. It's so interesting to pick out the countries that are flown over.
I've become a geek in my old age grin With this technology you're never bored.

My thoughts to all and have as good a day as you can. Stay safe and well with plenty of hot drinks/ food to keep body and soul together. xx

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jan-22 10:03:28

Good morning from snowy Scotland. At least here in the Borders it is. I'm just back from the dentist. Just a checkup and scale and polish this time
Phew
Then I tackled my Christmas tree. I had to cut it up to extract the lights. Now I see why people have plastic trees
I hope your hospital appointment goes well Marydoll.
Poor Ginny with worries
Safe journey Urms I loved today's cartoon
Stay safe everyone. It's icy out there

Grammaretto Fri 07-Jan-22 10:05:40

Here is my poor tree.

Urmstongran Fri 07-Jan-22 10:12:17

EV you couldn’t be a geek if you tried.
I think you’re marvellous they way you keep upbeat and busy on your own.
I thought your 5y old grandson was so sweet when he visited the other day, caring about you being alone.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Oxfordshire, wet underfoot though after a very wet evening.
We went out for a curry last night! First time ‘out, out’ since last October, as we were so early, there was just our table, a few take aways were going out, so hopefully they will be able to survive until normality returns.
thoughts are with grannysomerset
Urmssafe travels.
Marydoll hopefully you arrived safely for your appointments, our Oxford hospital has us leaving an hour and a half before appointments for a 15 mile trip! And then we only just get there in time. Yet on a Sunday when MrOops went for a PCR test it took us 20 minutes.
Anyway, enjoy your day whatever it brings, we are helping MissOops to pack as she has secured the bungalow and can move out during the month, rather than have to move in one day.
? for those who aren’t so chipper.
