Give me back my bodyguards: Prince Harry threatens legal action against the government and demands return of police protection because 'it is not safe for the Sussexes to return to UK for visits'

I think it has been suggested that Archie was a surrogate baby. They are his parents, but someone else carried and gave birth to him. Now I don't know this, it's only what I read, and that was only hinted at. As for Lillie? Who knows?

oh for goodness sake!!!

Good post maddyone at 13.42 though I don't like the word "bashing".
IF Harry had left the UK quietly and spoken kindly, deferentially, even indifferently about his family then he wouldn't be in this silly mess. I'm sure a few eyes would have rolled about asking for police protection, a few groans and even a bit of criticism, but no vehement bashing or knocking of him and Meghan would have taken place. He has brought it all on himself with his own very harsh comments over the past two years, and as someone has just said, stroppy behaviour. Even before the interview was aired, GNs on these threads were counselling him (in our comments) to go away, lie low and shut up, but it seems he was hell bent on doing the opposite. So I understand why people are now cross and critical and expect him to put up with the consequences.

May I say in my defence, yes I used the word bashing (re Meghan and Harry - apparently it’s not it’s just criticism). But if posters “criticise” Boris it is most certainly described as “oh not another Boris bashing thread”, Therefore I thought it was an acceptable word to use .

It is up to Prince Harry to liaise discretely with all the relevant authorities over the level of security he and his family may need. The police and security authorities no better than he does what level of security is appropriate

This posturing and announcing possible legal action is just part of the way the Prince and his wife manipulate the media to make sure they can hold their position as the worlds No 1 Victims and keep the contracts and money flowing in.

My claim to fame is that his mum's cottage where Diana stayed was just across the way from our house. DD's friends used to go horse riding there. James and Diana definitely went to the local wine bar, people knew about them being together. My children are blonde so I obviously never met Hewitt.

Josieann Mon 17-Jan-22 18:28:35

his = James Hewitt's mum. The quote didn't appear.

maddyone Mon 17-Jan-22 18:44:01

My children were blonde too, but my darling little granddaughter has beautiful red hair. Should that tell me something? grin

Being one such person , I really feel for other folk who have to continually put up with the comments about how Unalike their children are in looks & build.
They all have similar looks to family members from past generations , but not overly similar to each other.
It can become. quite tedious after a while.
.

Mine look alike but none of them look like me!

Are you suggesting a virgin birth somewhere along the track?

Bridgeit Mon 17-Jan-22 19:36:41

I've also read that Elvis is still alive and that people are regularly abducted by aliens.

Yes, Elvis was on the telly this evening ?
I saw him

Barmeyoldbat Mon 17-Jan-22 22:26:05

I just don’t see why he needs our police for protection if he comes on a private visit. They don’t have to be out and about, I think they are more worried about photos being taken of the children and used without them getting paid for them. They can’t make a private visit because nothing is private with them.

Perhaps I should start a rumour that Prince George was a surrogate baby.

Trisher, that’s why Catherine was so “sick” - so she could wear her bump less.

No one actually knows the truth about anything that happened with any of the royal family.
Because they are in the public eye people feel they can judge and criticise and state their opinions and judgements as truths.
Leave them alone! Stop falling for the British press intentions of inciting heroes and villains and victims.
All of these people are actually people! They all have feelings and emotions and this constant bashing of people on the public eye is immature, damaging and unhelpful. Like them or dislike them fine, but there is no need to write on forums in this way.
It just encourages the press to keep on hounding celebrities because it promotes conversation and sells papers. If it’s not celebrities it’s public sector workers!
How many more deaths of public figures do we need for the public to understand this!

LadyWee Tue 18-Jan-22 05:48:46

I don’t usually write on these type of threads but I happened to be reading through and was bewildered by the level of vitriol that has been thrown at these people!

dragonfly46 Tue 18-Jan-22 06:24:26

I think the main point is that the police would be more aware of the type of threats there are at any given time, they can be armed and Harry is willing to pay. They would only be needed when the family were not with other members of the Royal Family.

I am not a fan of the couple but it seems reasonable to me.

nadateturbe Tue 18-Jan-22 06:30:53

vegansrock Tue 18-Jan-22 06:34:06

Because he is a close relative of the Queen , Harry and family would be a target for terrorists and nut jobs. He would need security. The met would be able to provide armed security and have access to immediate backup, which unarmed bodyguards wouldn’t be able to do. He would pay for this service. I can’t think why people would object to this when the taxpayers are forking out for security for Prince Andrew, ex PMs etc

TopsyIrene06 Tue 18-Jan-22 07:02:19

LadyWee. Very well said.
