..... A woman after me own heart. I did. I decided ‘I’m worth it’ as they say!

Blossoming Wed 18-May-22 23:06:32

Yes Brook we’ve had thunder yesterday and today. It doesn’t suit me at all!

Hello Menopaws t don’t think I’ve seen you before. This is a cosy welcoming kitchen, please stay and enjoy the company and cake.

I have foolishly promised to set up Mr. B’s new printer tomorrow so he can send prints remotely from his iPad. Wish me luck! He is great at any manual tasks and chauffeuring duties but he is a Luddite when it comes to tech.

Blossoming Wed 18-May-22 23:07:59

Urms I hope it was a very big glass at this price! I’d expect the whole bottle.

Blossoming Thu 19-May-22 17:18:42

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It has been a beautiful sunny day here and we have spent time in the garden. I managed to set up Mr. B’s printer without much trouble. I also sorted out the updates on the iMac (which doesn’t get used as much now I’m retired) so it’s all up to date and ready to roll. We use iPads for most things now but I find the very large screen useful if I’m reading or watching tutorials while doing craftwork.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying life. I’m hoping to hear good news from soop when she has the time to post.

Oooh a very quiet kitchen this afternoon, I’ll just tiptoe in for a few minutes and leave some lemon raspberry cake on the side with some chilled Prosecco
Hi ? Blossoming
Hoping the Soops are doing fine

Blossoming Thu 19-May-22 17:23:29

Thanks brook those sound perfect for a lovely summer evening.

GrannySomerset Thu 19-May-22 17:54:36

Hoping all goes to plan for the Soops. What a year for them!

Grannmarie Thu 19-May-22 20:07:03

Hello, lovely Kitchen people, just popping in to see if there is news of the Soops? I hope everything is going well for them in Glasgow.

My dear friend and I had a great day out in the West End of Glasgow today. We haven't done this since before the pandemic. Went in on the train/ underground, ( still wearing masks), had a wee hour popping in and out of the nice shops, had a delicious lunch with wine, then a stroll in the Botanic Gardens, stopping to sit awhile in the sun, just delightful!

Brook, thanks very much for the cake and bubbly, how kind, and yes, the wee boy had a good nap yesterday whilst Gran and Papa put their feet up!

Blossoming, I'm impressed with your IT skills, well done you!

Hope all Kitchen people are having a good evening, TOYA, NNGB.

Hi all, a quiet day on the phones, glorious evening after off/on cloud all day, hectic storm last night which didn’t last long. I’ve planted out cosmos and a new Passion flower, managed to kill the last one, oops.
Just had a txt to book my pneumonia vaccination, I’ll do that next week. We’re away at the weekend for a few days to Shepton Mallet (I didn’t mean to book it when the PGA was on!).
Thank you brook we’ll share a piece.
Have a pleasant evening all x

Blossoming Thu 19-May-22 20:43:42

That sounds like a lovely day granmarie glad you enjoyed it. I was a software developer before I retired so I’m more used to this stuff than Mr. B smile

Jaxjacky Thu 19-May-22 21:01:08

Software developer Blossoming I was a software project manager some time ago, I’m sure we could bore others silly!!

brook2704 Thu 19-May-22 21:29:57

Sounds like a lovely day Grannmarie, I’ve not been to Glasgow Botanic gardens yet but must fit in a trip sometime
Hope your flowers do well and thrive Jax, we’ve been gardening today as well, digging out some old overgrown shrubs to make room for something newer and more colourful, I think a trip to the garden centre is needed ?

Chocolatelovinggran Thu 19-May-22 21:41:30

A lovely evening at my grandson's school concert
He plays the drums. When he's practicing at home it's a little like Love Actually!
I'll contribute some yoghurt cake and maybe a glass of limoncello ( well it is nearly summer)
Urmstongran, would a bottle and two straws be more economical???

Blossoming Thu 19-May-22 22:18:00

I don’t talk about it these days Jax, I enjoyed it very much and it demanded a lot of my time and energy. Now I’m retired and Mr. B gets first call on my time smile

Nannytopsy Thu 19-May-22 23:32:14

The day started at 4am to find DD’s dog, who was frightened by the storm we had. School run at 7 ?. Just finished the holiday ironing and tomorrow it’s packing.
Hope all’s well with the soops.

Nannytopsy Thu 19-May-22 23:32:52

PS the dog was hiding under a bedroom chair!

Ta dah! I be back. I have missed you all and it will take time for me to catch up with the latest happenings in the lives of our dearly loved Kitcheners.

Mr Soop says a whopping thank you for the many kind messages he returned to find on Gransnet.

It was a stressful event with hours of travel and two big hospitals to negotiate and several taxi rides through the busy city of Glasgow. Everyone we encountered, was kind and most helpful. Mr Soop was admitted at noon. He was delivered back to the table I had occupied in the coffee shop, at five o'clock. I had read 18 chapters of a new book. He was accompanied by a nurse and wore goggles. His face was bruised. He could barely see and a taxi was organised to take us back to the Premier Inn. He fell on the floor of the taxi but was then helped to sit down. When we returned to the hotel, I had to lead him into the lift and along the corridor. His eyes were streaming and he was a bit shaky.

The bus journey home took four and a half hours. The driver was extremely thoughtful. He took us to the bottom of our driveway...not a designated stop. Ever since, Mr Soop's eyes have watered constantly and I have been his personal nurse, administering three types of drops four hourly. He has Lymphoma and, on reading the accompanying blurb, (relating to two of the meds) there is a warning of excessive bruising and to speak to the GP. The GP is speaking on line to Mr Soop as I write. The GP is happy. grin That's a relief.

Welcome to Menopaws and Septimia. I'm delighted to see some of our absent-for-a-wee-while Kitcheners back with us and baking all manner of goodies for our benefit.

Grandmabatty Your drawing reminds me of certain old master sketches. It is almost life-like. flowers

Have a super holiday, Shazza.

I apologise if I've overlooked something that I shall discover a little later on re-reading through the three days of posts. I know that you lovely lot will understand. You are kindness personified.

After the hectic city visit, we returned to the following Kintyre sky, and peace, perfect peace.

Grandmajean Fri 20-May-22 14:56:05

Pleased it is over Soop and sending my best wishes to both of you.flowers

Grandmabatty Fri 20-May-22 14:58:46

Welcome home Soop and MrSoop. I bet you are both glad to be back. Poor MrSoop! He sounds like he's in a bit of a state. It will pass though. Thank you for the compliment Soop. It actually looks much better in real life. Nannytopsy I hope the wee dog is ok and recovered from its fright.
Today I have been to a friend's house for coffee and a piece of tea loaf. It was her mum's recipe and is delicious. My lovely next door neighbour has painted my side of our small adjoining fence. I will have to thank him with chocolates. At this point in the day, I have no idea what it'll be for dinner. Exciting! Whatever you do, have a good afternoon kitcheners.

Grannmarie Fri 20-May-22 15:01:21

So glad to hear that you are both home again, Soop, there's no place like home. Beautiful photo, just sitting down looking at that view will do you a power of good.
Poor MrSoop, I wish him a speedy and complete recovery. It's now his turn to be the patient and follow your advice!

My Dsister2 is on her way to Chicago
(again) so I am visiting her house, feeding and making a big fuss of her dear rescue cat. It's very therapeutic stroking a big friendly cat who likes to sit up on the sofa beside me. I've set a wee alarm on my phone in case I doze off! My nephew will take over the flat and cat sitting duties after the weekend.

Pressure washer man came this morning and did a great job on my patio and drive. He's coming back next week to paint the fence. We used to do all these jobs ourselves until recently. I find it takes so much longer than previously, and really tires us out, so it is time to arrange for some help. Save our strength for childcare!

TOYA, hoping everyone can have the best weekend possible.

gillgran Fri 20-May-22 15:02:00

soop, I'm happy & relieved that you & Mr.Soop are safely back home. Pleased that the ops seem to have been successful. Some quiet days to recover, (for you both), after that hectic city visit & long journey home.

Take Care now, Mr.Soop & your wonderful personal nurse. flowers

Hiraeth Fri 20-May-22 15:20:20

Good to hear that you &Mr.Soop are safely back home and everything went well . I,m safely home after a beautiful week in South Tyrol.
Just eating a piece of home made tea loaf with home -made strawberry jam

SueDonim Fri 20-May-22 15:22:59

It sounds as though Mr Soop has been through the mill, Soop. Poor man! You must have collapsed into your bed with relief last night. flowers I hope Mr S is on the road to recovery and his sight improves no end.

Up to the eyes in boxes here, five days until the removals van turns up. In the immortal words of Corporal Jones Don’t panic, don’t panic!

Pantglas2 Fri 20-May-22 15:25:24

Marvellous news soop and I’ve left some cava ????and tapas on the side to celebrate for all the early doors popping in shortly ?

Grannmarie Fri 20-May-22 15:41:02

Hiraeth, South Tyrol sounds beautiful, I'm visualising Heidi, goats and edelweiss??

SueD, good luck with the big move?I can't believe you have much left to pack after your big clear out!

Hello ? Pantglas, thanks very much for the tapas and bubbly. Your pudding the other day sounded delicious! Our school cook used to make a lovely tropical crumble. Her secret was to add dessicated coconut to the crumble ingredients, tasty!
