Evening all, to coin an urms phrase.

Just popping in to check no-one has melted. It is stupidly hot here.

Nannytopsy it's hot the dizzy height of 16° which is comfortable. Lots of rain this morning which has disappeared but not overly hot. Brook fish supper consumed and paid for by my uncle, bless his cotton socks. I'm home with a glass of wine. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

A random hot there!

It has been a scorcher in London so apart from taking a friend for her second booster because her GP surgery "would do it soon", I have done zilch.

There is little on TV for me so I will go to bed early to read. Sleeping in this heat with my 15 tog duvet does not bother me. If I feel warm I can always throw it off.

I will be looking for a cardigan tomorrow because the T will drop to 24C and rain is forecast. Ah well, the sun may return.

Still 25/26 here in south Hants, blinds closed, reasonably cool indoors, greenhouse will be watered later. Done little today, bil left earlier, ferry from Liverpool to Belfast tonight, it was great to see him.
Hope soop is ok and SueD has better news of her dd.
Fingers crossedfor rain at some point this weekend.

It’s been about 23deg here in the ‘North East Riviera’ today. The wind came up late afternoon and leaves were being blown in through our second floor window! It’s all quiet now, just a calm, sunny evening with blue skies. I think the sun is setting at gone 10pm now and it’s up again just past 4am.

Dd is really not well with the dreaded lurgy, she can’t keep anything down, so is feeling very miserable. She’s trying an ice lolly in the hope that that will stay put.

Thank you for all your kind wishes for DH.
DSs 1, 2 and 3 have had good visits with their Dad, he is breathing more easily though still bedbound and on oxygen. He is still having scans and x rays, his temperature was down a wee bit, thankfully he is more lucid now. He is being well looked after, we are very thankful. I will visit today, hoping to find him awake and comfortable. He has never been in hospital before, this past week has been a steep learning curve....

Thinking of you all, take care if you are in a hot-spot !

Better news Grannmarie I pray it is sustained.

I went out for a meal last night with my friend across the road.
I certainly found out why places are never busy and so many here are closing.
Since the last time I went to this particular pub, which was late last year, the prices have rocketed.
It is a lovely pub but still a pub after all.
We had a drink when we arrived, starter and main course and a bottle of wine.
My friend’s D took us and collected us as well so no taxi fares

With a 10% tip the bill for two of us was £120.
We are in Cheshire, not exactly country bumpkins but not the heady heights of Manchester or other large cities.
It will certainly stop many, many from eating out.

A takeaway next time we don’t want to cook.

Good morning lovely Kitcheners. I didn’t post last night as we arrived home late after a horrendous journey stuck in traffic. Will try to pop back later.

I intended popping in late yesterday afternoon. However, dear friends from the village called in. Their cheerful company was a real tonic. By the time they left, it was late-ish and we hadn't prepared our evening meal.

annsixty I agree, the bill for your pub meal does sound rather excessive. If you enjoyed it together with the company of your friend, it was well worth every penny. We have been invited out for a meal in a bistro later this week. Apparently, the puds are served with "real custard".

Shazza you cannot put a price on snuggles with a wee baby. Bea is a very pretty name.

Grannmarie Your dear husband is a real trooper. It was lovely to hear that he is responding to treatment.

I haven't heard from my friend. I shall phone her later. Her husband was supposed to getting out of bed to take a few steps with his zimmer frame. The stump is being closely monitored. The fear is of further infection.

The wife of another local friend, remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Another busy day here, I met DD2 in town after shed dropped DGD off at her dance class. We enjoyed chatting over a cuppa and finalising (again ?) her new bathroom plans. DGS aged 8 went away last night to his very first cub camp, he was so excited and it was lovely to see. I wish I could press a pause button though as they’re all growing up much too quickly
Its still windy here and much colder than yesterday, Im trying to avoid putting the heating on
That meal does sound expensive annsixty I think I’d be a bit shocked with s £120 bill for 2 people..

Temperature of 16 here, a 12 degree drop in 24 hours, shorts definitely off tomorrow, our bbq for two outside is now a cook inside meal. We’ll probably find something to watch tonight and be closing some of the upstairs windows, the opposite of the last few days.

Grandmarie your news sounds hopeful. What a rollercoaster you’ve been on.

Grandmabatty I’m relieved you don’t have a garage full of stepladders. We left our old faithful stepladder behind when we moved. We bought it in the 70’s and it was heavy and unwieldy so we’ll buy a lighter weight one when we move to our permanent house.

My dd is still quite unwell with Covid. It seems to be affecting her stomach and she can’t keep anything down for long. If only I could whisk her home and look after her!

We met two of our new neighbours this afternoon, a couple in their 50’s. Very nice people and lovely to have a chat. We’re formulating plans to spruce up the building a bit! Our respective dh’s were rolling their eyes at us.

Today I had a lovely catch up with an old colleague and friend, then we popped into the school's summer fair where I met other colleagues from the past. Then eventually home for a lazy evening. Hi everyone. I had a lovely time with my daughter today. We had Afternoon Tea in a hotel in Marylebone just round the corner from the Wallace Collection. It was called a Gentleman’s tea and came with champagne. We were stuffed. By the time we got to the Wallace Collection there was only half an hour before it closed. I have been there several times but daughter hadn’t realised how over the top and full of gilt and rococo it was!

annsixty I think once bitten with a bill like that last one. I would not pay that money and I live in London.

I thought I was a cold morsel but my neighbour switched on the heating early evening and although it was dull here, the T was early 20's C.

Well, an afternoon well spent watching the rugby final. I’m a Leicester supporter and DH supports Saracens but he was very gracious in defeat! ?
Our bedroom is finally sorted out except for putting the pictures back, and I have started repotting the patio plants. They all need to go into much bigger pots, which will be pricey on compost.

We have been away for a few days in Ilkley.The weather was lovely which is always a bonus.We met up with my cousin and spent a couple of days with her and a couple of days doing our own thing.

Ann, we were shocked at how much prices have increased when eating out.

Good Morning from a cloudy Cornwall. Yesterday we battled with heavy downpours as our carpenter was trying to get more work done in the utility area. We cleared the veranda so he could saw the wood up under cover. He almost finished the build in area and thinks one more day, assisted by his able helper, should have all the units finished. We will then have a kitchen and utility areas ready for action. MrMuse was installing filters yesterday for our water supply so that could be connected in a few weeks.

Thank you for all the kind welcoming back messages. I must bring cake next time. Brownies are on my to do list.

As for moving into the new house, we decided that will only happen when all work major work is finished. Next week the plumber starts on installing toilets etc. It has taken me most of the past few months to find another plumber. A reliable one. The original one, who did the first fix, said he would return in March. Perhaps he was thinking March 2023! Having got no call back from my messages, we decided to find another one.

MrMuse after 4 days of trying to cope and do this water supply, has stayed in bed today with the hope it will help his achey back. He has next weekend away with his son!

Good morning dear Kitcheners. That’s very kind of you Susan56, thank you for your good wishes. As followers of the Good Morning thread will know I fell over on Friday at the end of the museum visit. I landed flat on my back and managed to stop my head from connecting with the hard stone floor. Fortunately nothing seriously damaged, but I have some lovely bruises and sore spots. The nightmare journey home caused by horrendous traffic problems didn’t help. We were both very tired by the time we got home and I was wiped out yesterday. So, I’m taking it very easy this weekend. Mr. B is treating me as though I’m made of delicate glass and shooing me away if I try to enter our kitchen. He can’t keep me out of this kitchen though . He is currently in our kitchen preparing the Sunday brunch of bacon rolls while I sit here listening to the birds chirping.

I haven’t a hope of catching up on all your news, but I know there are many of you with health worries, either your own or friends and family. Sending best wishes and healing vibes

Crossed posts muse, good to read of progress. Isn’t it awful when tradesmen promise to come bye don’t turn up or return calls? Hope you and your family are all well.

Blossoming Nasty falls can be very traumatising. I hope that your bruises fade fast.

As I was sitting at the computer yesterday afternoon and ready to catch up and do the usual messaging, I had what is termed as a "nasty turn". The fourth of it's kind. I couldn't focus and couldn't get up from the chair. Mr S was in the loft. Thankfully, he heard me call his name. I then vomited and went all shaky. Two previous occasions happened in hospital. One immediately after the mastectomy (went back to theatre to have the site drained of accumulated blood) and one a couple of days after hip surgery. The third occured as we were having coffee with friends. I was afraid. Tomorrow, I shall have a word with the GP. Wondering whether it was a drop in blood pressure. Whatever, I hope not to experience something like again.

Tennis final this afternoon. I shall relax in my favourite chair and play at being umpire. I am rooting for the Italian. He is very dishy.
