Virtual cruise Lyon to Avignon and Arles

StarDreamer Sun 12-Jun-22 17:28:38

MawtheMerrier

PS we didn’t need and didn’t have rules

The only rules for this event are no links other than video links and I must not use more than three video links each day.

It is possible that the two cultures effect written about by C. P. Snow is in effect here. I used a metadata partitioning construct to document metadata separately from body text, it seems peculiar and unnecessary to some others, but natural to me. Just different ways of thinking.

A good topic for an after dinner chat.

Talking about dinner, what shall we have?

How about ratatouille and oven chips?

Really?
I beg to differ.

I still don’t know what you are on about, I thought this was meant to be a bit of fun, a virtual river cruise, not a lecture on the metaverse.

The only “rules” on GN are the guidelines furnished by GNHQ
Let’s not make life complicated? .

Thank you.

It is meant to be enjoyable, the cruise ship is due to depart southward towards Vienne tomorrow morning.

What about dinner this evening?

Would people like ratatouille and oven chips, or somethingelse?

Hopefully Fanny will be back in time for dinner.

Marsha Sun 12-Jun-22 20:23:34

Ratatouille and oven chips?!

StarDreamer Sun 12-Jun-22 20:36:18

Yes. In real life I can no longer eat it, but I used to love it. Sometimes ratatouille with oven chips, sometimes ratatouille with rice, sometimes ratatouille with gluten-free pasta shells.
So I can pretend here. Mmm, mmm. smile

Lucca, you made me go and look at that video. wink

As a founder member of the original Argy many moons ago, all new applications must be run by me first, before proceeding. wink

Tomorrow morning, Monday, breakfast will be available from 7:00 am am to 9:30 am. This is because we are due to start cruising southward at 8:00 am, so the earlier availability of breakfast is so that those who would like to be on the upper deck for the whole journey can have their breakfast earlier if they so choose.

We will be travelling at around 10 miles per hours, so we should arrive in Vienne at around 10:00 am.

The cruise ship slowly moves away from the Quai Claude Bernard in Lyon and begins its journey southward towards Vienne.

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 08:33:06

When we get to Vienne, at around 10 am, for those who want to do so, there will be a guided tour of Vienne. This will take around two hours and then we will return to the cruise ship for lunch.

We will be met by a transport vehicle, so cruise participants may choose to walk or ride from stop to stop along our route, mixing walking and riding as you choose.

MawtheMerrier Mon 13-Jun-22 09:41:19

Why would you want to travel from stop to stop any other way than on the boat?
It’s a cruise

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 09:56:26

We are getting close to Vienne now.

For our shore excursion, we will be met by a transport vehicle, so cruise participants may choose to walk or ride from stop to stop along our route, mixing walking and riding as you choose.

MawtheMerrier Mon 13-Jun-22 10:01:11

Sorry misunderstood what you mean by “stop”.
How big is Vienne?

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 10:17:04

Here we are in Vienne, which has an area a little under nine square miles and a population of around thirty thousand people.

Shore excursion in Vienne

Millie22 Mon 13-Jun-22 11:18:23

I think most passengers have disembarked at the last stop ?

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 11:35:18

Yes, for the shore excursion in Vienne.

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 12:17:57

Oh dear! The people should have arrived back from the shore excursion by now. I wonder if there is a problem.

I'd better inform the chef, so that she can delay the serving of lunch.

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 12:33:26

They've just returned. The delay was because they saw a gift shop and someone asked if the tour could include that, so the tour guide took them all in the gift shop a few at a time and many of them browsed and bought things.

So I can ask chef to serve lunch at 1:15 pm.

After lunch people can go and explore in Vienne if they wish to do so.

Please DO NOT feed anything to the swans.

It is illegal in France, Belgium and the Netherlands to feed ducks and swans or any other birds you encounter on the canals and rivers.

They have been dying in droves due to unsuitable food.

If I remember correctly the fines are such that you really do not want to have to pay them!

HazelEyes Mon 13-Jun-22 13:12:09

Is anyone else feeling a bit sea sick?

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 16:20:00

Some of the cruise participants are going together to have a look around Vienne, including the ancient cathedral, where there are stained glass windows.

Vienne

StarDreamer Mon 13-Jun-22 17:21:59

We are moored at the Quai Jean Jaurès in Vienne.

This evening, our dinner is being prepared by a guest chef, a chef from Vienne.
