Come the next General Election, who would you most rejoice to see losing their seat?

(Apart from Boris, that is, assuming you’re not a fan.)

Mine would be Jacob Rees-Mogg, no question.

I get very sad when I see people who think they are all the same.

My local MP was a police officer and worked with ex-servicemen. She was a college lecturer and board member of a sporting association. I didn't vote for her or her party but she is a good local MP. She's also her party's spokesperson on Work and Pensions and party chief whip. I think all that counts as "life experience" and we've come to a pretty pass when the people who are actually good MPs, in it for the right reasons, are dismissed along with the self-serving ones.

Some posters are very partisan

I'm sure there are poor MPs in all parties. who fail to carry out their duties to their constituents and the country or are too extreme.

Volver, you were disparaging about John Major ( I find him rather dull) However if we talk about Millionaires…look at Labours front bench. All of them who live in North London havd homes which are worth well over £1-2 millions. And some of them ars sitting on large fortunes. So I smirk when I see the Labour front bench talking about Rishi being rich. It is a matter of many politicians who are rich by the standard of the man in the street. Anyway to all those who hate the eccentricity of Jacob Rees Mogg, you can hope. However, his reputation as a good local MP makes him safe.
I think hoping for someone of either party to lose their seat shows a degree of hate and resentment which are not desirable qualities. I admit to being on the verge of that with Tom Watson, due to his awful allegations that ruined the last years of some politicians and also hurt the reputations of some politicians who were already dead. I simply do not think he should go to the Lords. And I see others think the same. However, as he is not standing for election he does not fit into the category of this thread.

I just typed, then deleted, "when was I disparaging about John Major?" Then I remember I said something along the lines of how he had left school with 3 O-levels and never went on to further or higher education.

I'm not being disparaging, I'm pointing out that not everybody who gets to high office needs a glowing academic record. It's the opposite of "disparaging".

If you think that is being disparaging, I wonder what else you haven't understood properly...

For instance: "either party" ?

FarNorth

Everyone who claims they don't know what a woman is.

Totally agree with you FarNorth - and that includes Keir Starmer!

Flakesdayout Thu 27-Oct-22 14:12:17

Oh definitely JRM

Nanatoone Thu 27-Oct-22 14:15:54

JRM for me, plenty of other Tory MPs too. He is the worst of them. My local Tory MP is pretty good, I’m prepared to vote him out though it’s unlikely as this area is true blue. So many Boris lovers locally, just how?

polly123 Thu 27-Oct-22 14:20:50

Boris Johnson of course. Then Diane Abbott, possibly Angela Raynor, Rees Mogg, and one in particular whose name escapes me but who was on Sky this morning still lying and covering up this time for the current Home Secretary. And many more...

GrauntyHelen Thu 27-Oct-22 14:26:31

Oh so many Douglas Ross JRM Truss Kwarteng and definitely Boris

She failed to complete her education, made no attempt to rectify this in later life, has no qualifications yet apparently thought she was competent to become the Shadow Secretary of State for Education.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
What Angela does know about is being forced out of education at 16 for being pregnant, going back to college with baby in tow, whilst also working to keep a roof over her head. She fought the authorities who decreed that single mothers shouldn't have the benefit of further education to improve their lives and tried to withdraw funding. She supported the education of other women, many of whom were battered wives, in order to escape their abusive husbands. She has had a real life with real problems to deal with but let's judge her on her northern accent instead.angry

Well said Normandygirl I like Angela she is down to earth and has real life experience, not like most of the upper class bigwigs Who doesn’t even know the price of a loaf of bread.
I admire her determination to succeed in life but some snobby people don’t like her because of her accent and the above life experiences.
I know who I would prefer to represent my interests, rather than the super rich who doesn’t have a clue of real life problems.

As a 50’s born woman and a Conservative since I was able to vote (until lying Boris came along). I would start with Theresa Coffey, IDS, Guy Opperman but the list could be endless. The sooner this shower are out the better

Plunger Thu 27-Oct-22 15:27:50

Anyone who doesn't know what a woman is and uses terms like 'birthing person', 'chest feeding' or 'person who mensurates'. As post menopause I don't mensurate but I am definitely a woman and I have breasts

Angela Raynor - she gives Northerners a bad name.

Angela Raynor - she gives Northerners a bad name.

In what way, exactly?

Alioop Thu 27-Oct-22 15:36:26

Minging Mogg. He's an Idiot!
Any that have been an N.Ireland secretary as they need to give these idiots a good kick up their behinds!

Marjgran Thu 27-Oct-22 15:36:53

Love Angela Rayner! And Peter Kyle and Wes Streeting. And the poster who said owning a house in North London showed comparable wealth to the billions of Rishi Sunac and wife almost made me choke on my tea. Sadly few know who a woman is.
Lose seat? Jacob R M, it is great he works for his constituents but in the national stage he is so regressive. Suella Braverman. Gavin Williamson. Probably several more.

Outcast52 Thu 27-Oct-22 15:41:31

Angela Raynor is worth the entire current cabinet. Disparaging remarks about her on here are clearly generated by ignorance and snobbery.

Grandmahigham Thu 27-Oct-22 15:49:20

Reese Mogg and Suella Braverman, for starters.

Musicgirl Thu 27-Oct-22 15:54:18

Angela Raynor and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

GrumpyGrandy Thu 27-Oct-22 15:58:46

In no particular order; Starmer, Rayner and Reeves.

There are others but these the most awful ones!

GrumpyGrandy Thu 27-Oct-22 16:00:48

Angela Raynor - she gives Northerners a bad name.

Well said, Rayner makes me embarrassed to be a Northerner.

westendgirl Thu 27-Oct-22 16:08:25

Why.?Can you please elaborate on your sweeping statement ?
I am a northerner , and I like her!

phantom12 Thu 27-Oct-22 16:08:44

Rees-Mogg and Therese Coffey as she has no compassion whatsoever, awful woman.

Totally agree. While I would shed no tears for my current MP I'd be very sad to see my former MP, Carol Monaghan, go.

Like most of the 2015 SNP intake she was never seriously expecting to be an MP when she was selected to fight one of the safest Labour seats in Scotland. People knock the candidates of mainstream London parties for being hothoused career politicians, and they often have a point, but like many of her party colleagues Carol was just doing an ordinary job, a physics teacher and head of science (a very good one too, by all accounts) at a Glasgow High School. Since the SNP members are often pointedly snubbed by the mainstream parties and don't generally vote on devolved matters, they have little to do at Westminster but aside from making it her duty as the only working scientist in the house to correct hon member on points of science, she has made it her personal mission to champion people with MS whether in Glasgow North East, Scotland, or the UK as a whole. She's also a warm and generous human being.

Ok, I'm partisan. Somewhere I have a photo of Carol and me clinking glasses of white wine in the Pugin Room of the Palace of Westminster.

Jacob Reese Mogg and Priti Patel and Liz Truss. They have all caused such damage to our country
