Todays plans my usual trip to Bicester , a coffee and sarnie today methinks .

Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a cloudy but dry and peaceful Portsmouth.

It sounds like you’ve recovered, Mick, which is good.

My journey yesterday was fraught at the start due to delays near Newton Abbot caused by an accident. On arrival at the hotel, I was given room 101 (well, they will see the back of me this morning!) which is right by the lift and over the front door. Surprisingly, it’s been very quiet overnight but I’m awake early as I need to check in with Brittany Ferries no later than 7.15 a.m.

Have a good day, everyone! 🦩🥰😎💐🦩

Good morning, it is pouring down here in s somerset and will be all day, grim

I had a ride out yesterday, to give some dungarees to dd, I made them and the fit is gorgeous. Also transferred over my beautiful `new` accordian, the weight is not comfortable and my learning capacity for music has disappeared. I cannot re-create the past so I decided to let go. I was so pleased to hear dgs (16) already managing to pick out songs by ear. Another aspect of past life done and dusted for me

Weather is horrible so indoors it is and I am so glad to continue my sewing mojo, it completely lightens my day

Have a good day

Good Morning all from Spain.
Another scorcher forecast.
Our final morning here, today we move onto our next destination towards the coast to Benhavis.

Yesterday we had another walk around Ronda then visited the Cueva de la Pileta, these are some caves with cave paintings dating back to over 20,000 years, the tour was fascinating.
They estimate the cave is home to 18,000 bats😬, this could explain the lack of mosquitoes in the area!

We ate dinner in a delightful square in a local town Montejaque, the photo is of the town hall.

Here is a link to the caves if anyone wants to know more; www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwi4mYfRkoaBAxUDUaQEHQzvBgMQFnoECBEQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FCueva_de_la_Pileta&usg=AOvVaw3KVwlEOgEPbmmuCcyL9CHw&opi=89978449

Have a good day everyone.

God morning from a drizzly Bristol.
Bon voyage, Ash, I hope you have calm seas. All the best to oldd.
There was an amusing event here yesterday. The residents have been complaining that the “gardeners” have barely mown the lawns, let alone the landscaping that we pay for. There were unflattering comments at the meeting with the boss.
Out of nowhere, all week, a team of 4 men have been wielding secateurs, hedge trimmers, etc., and the change is spectacular. Several years worth of growth is being taken out of beds and hedges, dead shrubs, ditto. There are two very unsightly hedges round my flat. They have been transformed and will look lovely when recovered from their chop. I had asked them to do something about them and was told I knew nothing about gardening, that self-seedlings were “suckers” and patronised rotten.
A couple of hours later, I spoke to them again and had my comments proudly repeated to me and everything I had asked for had been done! Amazing what a word in the ear of the warden achieves.
Tai chi this morning. Rearranging of remaining furniture after charity collection. Not holding my breath regarding start of work on Monday.
Lovely to see you posting yesterday, Urms.
Love to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Cornwall where the rain is heavy. Have borrowed some books on sewing from the library so that I can learn about this new pursuit. I don't aim to get to your standard karmalady but am quietly excited at having something different to tackle.

A fascinating time yesterday when a bus didn't turn up so I ended up walking, well hobbling actually, for an hour across my own town from the beach to get home. Found places I'd forgotten existed and lay on a bench in an exquisite sub-tropical garden where, from a nearby bench, a man with what looked like his life in bags around him read aloud from a book. He couldn't see me. It was bizarre but strangely lovely.

Today I'll do some sewing, shopping and library-visiting.

Good morning everyone, it was dry where I looked out earlier before making my coffee and coming back to bed, but I guess it won’t last 😊
Yesterday a had a lovely dog walk first thing then came back and hung out the washing before tackling the cosmos that had completely overtaken one small border. The stems were an inch wide, easily 6’ tall, they towered over me and everything else in the border was being swamped. It now looks much better. Next year I will be more considered when I plant them out!
My lovely neighbour spent a couple of hours pruning and tidying the bay tree; I planted it 25 years ago, it’s now a large lollipop, 15’ tall! This year it has really grown shaggy hence a good trim. Very happy with his work 😊
Today is housework then some painting I think.
Take care everyone 🌹

Greyduster Thu 31-Aug-23 06:51:55

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from Filey bay where it promises to be a lovely day. The lodge we are staying in is lovely - very modern and well equipped. We got a very good view of the super moon last night, rising over Bempton Cliffs. I think we are going up to Scarborough today - we are certainly eating there this evening. The youngsters plan - I just toddle along! Couple of late evening photos - RSPB Bempton cliffs and Filey Bay.
Have a good day, folks.

Good morning Mick and All.

On a few days holiday in Bournemouth for DH and ‘me’ to see the annual Airshow over the coast, which looks as if it will be spectacular. Today we have some vintage aircraft. Rain is expected but will clear up later, sun due tomorrow onwards.

Meeting an old neighbour, who has recently moved down here, for lunch at a beach restaurant. 😀

kittylester Thu 31-Aug-23 07:08:11

Good Morning all from an autumnal North Leicestershire. The moon last night was spectacular and prompted a lot of discussion on our family group thread.

First of the DGC back to school today. Bertie starting senior school!! Where does the time go?

Exciting day today - the kitchen is being delivered!

A friend and I are going to see our friend in hospital. She seems quite cheery.

Have the best day possible everyone.

NannyJan53 Thu 31-Aug-23 07:19:49

Good morning from a dull Black Country where it rained overnight.

Lovely couple of hours with a friend at a Garden centre cafe, not met up for a few months, as either she was away or we were.

Thursday walk this morning, along canal and a cafe stop half way.

Enjoy your holiday NanKate weather is supposed to be lovely over the weekend

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 31-Aug-23 07:22:56

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. This morning I will weigh out the remaining ingredients for the C cake - the fruit has been soaking in dark rum overnight. It is my book group over lunchtime. We meet in the village cafe. When I get back home I will put the C cake to bake and also make the peppermint ice cream I failed to make yesterday. OH wanted a trip to our local NT place, so we did that. Our gardener came later and finished some pruning. I seem to be over my jet lag now. It’s such a weird feeling and a different sort of tiredness. Thinking of Urms and others with difficulties.

Gingster Thu 31-Aug-23 07:35:13

Good morning all and it’s ok at the moment. Rain later.
I missed the Super moon. 😤. Forgot to look out .

Had a busy , productive day yesterday while Dh was out fishing. I get so much done when he’s out.

Cleared out my cupboards and drawers and have a large sack for the charity shop.
I don’t have a lot of clothes or shoes - hate shopping Marydoll 🤣. Dh has loads more than me - only wears the same old things - but will not throw anything out.

Bowls club for me this morning and maybe a dog walk by the river this afternoon, weather permitting.

Take care Ash you are a very brave lady. Hope the journey goes well.

Hoping your days are ‘good’ ones 🌻

Pittcity Thu 31-Aug-23 07:39:20

Good morning from Colchester. There is blue sky visible between the wispy clouds and the maximum temperature today will be 18°.
Thursday is housework day. I need to make up DS's bed as he'll be home tonight for the weekend.
I took this photo of the moon last night with my phone camera and it's not too bad.
Love to all 🦩 x

Grammaretto Thu 31-Aug-23 07:41:34

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
A nice day with an autumn chill in the air.
Yesterday the 3 dead elms came down as I sat with my knitting and watched. Like the tricoteuses.
It's all been left very tidy. A pile of logs and mulch.
Safe journey Ash, sago and my young helper who is off on a bus to Devon to her next host.
Wishing you all a happy day.

BlueSapphire Thu 31-Aug-23 07:42:42

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton; better make the most of it as rain is forecast this afternoon.

I have some men coming this morning to give me a quote for repairing/replacing fencing. Yesterday the plumber came and removed the old hose from the shower, fixed the wobbly loo, and said I just needed to get a new hose to attach to the current shower fitment, and said it would be easy to do. So yesterday afternoon I took the hose back to the shop we sourced our bathroom fittings from, and they supplied what I wanted - and also assured me it would be easy to fit..... we shall see. I shall have a go after the fencing men have been.

A Sainsbury's delivery after that, an early lunch, and then my two dance classes. Will make a chilli this afternoon, if Sainsbury's deliver the mince and a tin of kidney beans.

Greyduster, my youngest DSis lives just outside Filey, in Hunmanby, and it is indeed lovely up there.

Wishing all a good Thursday.

brook2704 Thu 31-Aug-23 07:45:14

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Inverness
Safe journey Ash
Great picture of the moon pittcity
I’m going to take DH into the gym this morning on a free guest pass as the swimming and exercise machines are all good for his new knee. After that a bit of shopping and then hopefully I’ll be in the garden most of the afternoon.
Enjoy your holiday in Bournemouth nankate and the air show - sounds good
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Sar53 Thu 31-Aug-23 07:46:31

Good morning from a bright and breezy Essex coast.
Food shopping first thing then admin.
Almost 12 year old granddaughter starts secondary school next week but a couple of hours settling in today. She has recently been prescribed glasses and DD1 sent a picture of her yesterday with her glasses, her hair cut and in her new school uniform. She looks so grown up and not like my C at all. I wish her and all DGC who are setting off to new schools my very best wishes.
Have a great day everyone xx

Gwenisgreat Thu 31-Aug-23 07:50:31

Good morning all from sunny Harrogate
Sounds like normal service resumed Mick
Glad you have got the gardeners doing what they are supposed to do GrandMattie. That is some fantastic holiday Sago. We did visit Ronda many years ago, I still remember the stunning bridge over a valley?
Yesterday we had two men round to tell us the solar panels were not working as they should, at least they were not expecting to fix them at an astronomical price.
Today, Sainsburies delivery, then I go to the hairdresser, when I get back I have DGS. This evening it’s zooming my sisters
Have the best day possible folks

monk08 Thu 31-Aug-23 07:56:52

Good morning all from a very dull Black country.
Ash I laughed at your room 101 mention, hope your journey today is not fraught with any delays.
Shopping today and then we have a carvery booked for later so no cooking yippee.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Gala Thu 31-Aug-23 08:00:38

Good morning from a cool & dull Sefton. It was bright & sunny an hour ago.
Have had a run of very disturbed nights this weeks so no plans for today as I'm so tired. Will visit the fish man this morning as that will sort tea for today & tomorrow. A s l o w day will follow
Thoughts with everyone finding life difficult at the moment.

Liberty Thu 31-Aug-23 08:02:17

Good morning from a sunny autumnal feeling Suffolk.

Off to my stretch class this morning and then meeting up with 3 friends for lunch at a fish restaurant which has a good reputation locally. They say in their blurb that they focus on local produce but with red snapper on the menu I’m not so sure!

Good to see Urms posting Matt’s morning cartoon yesterday. Hoping there is a little sunshine for those today bowed down with illness or worries.

Oopsadaisy1 ….tried your helpful phone tip yesterday, reset my phone and all well. Thank you. The helpfulness of GN.

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Aug-23 08:02:50

Morning from a damp S Hants, rain due most of the day. Enjoy the air show NanKate we get some of the planes over this way, I’ll be listening out, weather should be perfect.
I’m enjoying your trip Sago thank you.
Yesterday was tedious waiting in for a delivery that had to be handed over, it eventually turned up.
Not much on today, lasagna to make later.
Very good to see Matt yesterday courtesy of Urms 🦩.

Foxygloves Thu 31-Aug-23 08:05:07

Good morning from Foxyland where I am not at all sure what weather we have in store. It is fine now but with a lot of high cloud.
Yesterdays book group bbq was lovely and we didn’t get up from the table until after 4! My frozen gelato dessert went down well with its chocolate and Kahlua sauce and we served it with fresh raspberries and blueberries.
(I still can’t find the packet of meringue nests though 🙄)
Today I am having my first shockwave treatment for my PF. Typically, it has eased recently and I’ve actually had two nearly pain-free days but I’m going ahead with it anyway.
I plan to rest it this afternoon as I may have a lot of walking in the next few days, Norfolk on a Saturday, Les Troyens at the Proms on Sunday and the Harry Potter experience with 4 of the GC (and their mummies) on Monday.
I feel exhausted just thinking about it!
Kind thoughts to all who are in pain or distress and warm wishes to you all for a pleasant day.

Jaxjacky Thu 31-Aug-23 08:05:15

Oh, sorry, have a calm journey across ‘La Manche’ Ashcombe.
