Didn’t do it for me but I love the M&S one! She does do good with the paper hats!

I'd like to see them on the tv screen. i am sure they would delight youngsters especially who may not have seen them. The Boxer one was 2016 the same year as my favourite MS one Mrs Claus. Seeing them on my tablet screen is not quite as good.

We have YouTube app on our TV * HelterSkelter*

I don't seem to remember many of these.
Where was I?

I think the advert is awful, along with all the other Christmas ads I’ve seen so far.

I finally saw the Amazon ad yesterday. Didn’t think it was anything special.

I don’t like the JL advert. The plant is carnivorous; I always feel sorry for the insects caught in it. It is implausible as it could not survive in the cold.

Like it,
The advert - called Snapper, The Perfect Tree - follows a young boy as he lovingly nurtures a seed bought at a local market, thinking he is growing a Christmas tree.

But the outcome is more Little Shop Of Horrors than evergreen fir.

The fast-growing plant is soon snapping at the dog and gobbling decorations - until his antics go too far and he is dragged out into the cold.

A traditional tree goes up in Snapper's place as he watches through the window from the frosty garden.

The Lidl Christmas ad that had me in tears when the raccoon takes the toy back to the child

I've just been away to look at a few adverts and confess the M&S food one with the mittens drove me mad. The mittens (Left and Right) seem to be named opposite to the actual mitten they really are.
At first they are correct I think, but then the next scene they are wrong.

Whatever they want to sell me I'm not sure as the naming if the mittens is a huge problem for me grin

Has anyone else seen this one?

I haven’t seen it but from your description I think there’s possibly a gender positive message in there.

Love the Amazon Christmas advert! The three ‘older’ ladies sledging. Made me laugh!

The best John Lewis ever was the boxer on the trampoline….🥹

I second this! ☺️

Talking of Christmas adverts. What do you think of the Amazon advert, where 3 older ladies relive their childhood by sledging down a hill.
Personally I think this was made with the US/Canadian market in mind. Considering the billions of pounds profit they make in this country couldn't they have given us something a little more appropriate to the U.K.
I live in South West Wales, we very rarely see any frost, let alone snow. Rain of course by the bucketfuls. smile

Ditto! Also from SW Wales!

Haven't seen it but am sick of the Aldi one. Old women on toboggans so obviously doctored.

Froglady Sat 11-Nov-23 11:34:08

Hate it, and this is the first John Lewis Christmas advert that I haven't loved.

The one I've seen with the elderly woman on sleds was an Amazon advert and I loved it.

I agree.

Just weird!

Kandinsky Sat 11-Nov-23 11:45:23

It’s awful.

Greyduster Sat 11-Nov-23 11:59:57

I just watched the the 1995 Coca Cola advert that Ixion posted. It brought a huge smile to my face and made me tingle all over. A long time since any Christmas ad did that!

Kathmaggie Sat 11-Nov-23 12:28:17

Don’t care much for JL ad. Much prefer the Amazon ladies! The message as I understand it is about bringing joy and evoking memories.

Catlover123 Sat 11-Nov-23 12:41:43

eurggh horrible!

razzmatazz Sat 11-Nov-23 12:43:02

Horrible. Very weird.

Nannapat1 Sat 11-Nov-23 12:47:13

I liked the JL advert, not sure I'd go as far as loving it. I do love the Amazon ad and confess to feeling moved when the 3 ladies become their young selves. I've seen plenty of snow over the years btw, including in Greater London!
Re the M&S advert, I've only seen snippets (including the supposedly offensive party hats!) and while I think that the underlying message is OK, I didn't really like the ad.
