Good morning from a chilly but dry Bristol.
I’m finding the dry cold invigorating, my old bones don’t like the damp much.
As I was “imprisoned”, waiting for a furniture delivery, I bought the necessary to make marmalade. I spent the day making nearly 40 pots, including a batch of cranberry and orange marmalade. This was very popular in Kent.
I have someone coming next week to put up the IKEA stuff.
Today, I shall relax with only a church service to go to.
Hope everyone is ok, and taking it easy (that means you Marydoll ) and enjoying the rare sunshine.

Good morning from south Gloucestershire, dark, damp and chilly here! I have to admit I feel like hibernating today, no idea why, perhaps a good dog walk is needed this morning.
We still have a number of floods around here, I guess they’ll take some time to subside because everything is so saturated.

Good morning, I am looking forward to the day, sparkling, sunny and cold in s somerset.

I felt myself getting groggy after lunch yesterday so I set up my old sewing machine, the one I bought as a present to myself two years ago. It is in a small horn cabinet in my living room. A bernina record 930. I absolutely love these old straightforward mechanical machines.

I made a brown, cream-lined, oilskin tote with orange leather buckled straps, It took me until evening and is lovely. I never used oilskin before, it is greasy to work with but is already starting to dry out. That after a morning sorting paperwork. None of which I had planned

I think I will let today evolve too, I usually end up on a positive if I do what my mind tells me

Good morning from a cold but dry Colchester.
We're up early to eat breakfast before heading to the football touchline. We try to support our 7 year old DGS at his matches. His 12 year old brother has a rugby match at the same venue too. We'll be frozen by lunchtime.
Roast pork this evening.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry if soggy corner of Somerset.

Dry days are so welcome, as roses says it will take a while for floods to recede. I feel so sorry for those overwhelmed by water.

Most of yesterday was spent hopping (slowly!) on and off a step ladder cleaning the conservatory structure. We both survived the experience is all I’ll say.

Some pottering for me today, Mr C will I hope rest and spend some time with his latest and from the muttering challenging jigsaw.

Good morning from a cloudy and cold Torbay.

The photos show views of Babbacombe Bay taken late afternoon. Last night the Twelfth Night party was well attended with mulled wine and mince pies being enjoyed. We caught up with various people and there was a good atmosphere.

After church today, we both plan to go to an Epiphany Lunch organised by my church at a nearby hotel. It’s all or nothing with social events!

Well, I am off to a Cookery Day School later. Elder son gave me a voucher for my 70th last year. I will be doing Patisserie. Yum!
While I’m out OH will made a beef stew for our dinner. Hopefully I will supply the pudding.

Not a lot happening in Lesterland today, I hope. I hope to spend today catching up with correspondence and phone calls while waiting for updates on both my brother and my friend. We have a promised visit by DS2 to look forward to and then a beef casserole for dinner.

Good morning from a very cold- 1 today on the east coast of Fife. I’m going to church this morning and my nephew is taking me to have a Sunday roast at one of the local golf clubs I really must wrap up well.

Good morning from a damp and cold NE.
DS and GD2 came yesterday afternoon, she brought homework with her and she did complete it.
After dinner GD played the piano and then we watched two David Attenborough programmes about the Jurassic coast.
Today I have the entire day to myself so am going to take it easy. Dinner will be leftovers from yesterday as I cooked a gammon joint with five vegetables.

Good morning from East Yorkshire. It is dry and just getting light.

Yesterday we went to the retail park near York. I got a few sale bargains and most shops had an extra 20% off. The items I bought are all classics which I will get a lot of use from.

Today I could do with a quick trip into the city centre to return a gift to Tk Maxx. I also want to get out for a walk along the foreshore and pop in to see a friend who lives near there. She is house bound after an op before Christmas and I promised to call in.

Thank you for the photos Ash they bring back memories of many happy childhood holidays spent in that area.

Good morning all and it’s a chilly one here in Essex.

DS1 and DIL popped in for a coffee yesterday and we chatted about this and that. The downstairs toilet light has gone and Dh can’t get the fitting off the wall. DS and DIL both tried - no good, so we’ll have to get someone in 😤.

Not sure what today holds, so will take it as it comes.,

Good morning from Cornwall where it will be a sunny, cold day. I may get the bus to the north coast. Lovely views Ash.

Fun with my granddaughter yesterday as she used all the cardboard from my new sofa to create barriers around my flat. Later today my broken-footed son and I are being collected by his brother for a roast dinner at home. My daughter-in-law says she wants to spoil my son a bit as he seems low, very unusual for him. A few weeks yet before his foot will allow him to drive.

Quaker Meeting here later and I shall make a warming soup for lunch. I will light a fire too and hope there's enough dry kindling.
This afternoon will be Taizé singing and tonight a df is coming for supper.

I had a poor sleep and anxious dreams so it's good to be busy. I hope I can stay awake

I gave away a sleeve ironing board yesterday to a local woman who was thrilled with it. She has an ironing business and had asked on Facebook. I can't remember ever using it. 😉

We have the children staying and like karma I let the day evolve.Baking, Lego, drawing and mid afternoon DH and DGD decided to start the 1000 piece Harry Potter jigsaw.

The children are being collected late morning and then I will start on the long to do list I wrote last night🤯

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire. Outside is sparkling with frost, Alexa tells me it’s-3*, very pretty but slippery I’m sure.

It’s DD’s birthday today so we’ll pop over at some point this afternoon.

Mass first then DH and I may meet for brunch but we haven’t decided yet. Our favourite cafe is under new management and there have been a few little changes which I think take away from the ambience which is a great pity.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -1° and frosty. It feels very cold. Ash you live in a lovely part of the country. Susan letting the day evolve sounds like a good idea. GrandMattie your marmalade sounds very tasty.
Yesterday I met up with a friend and her daughter for breakfast. I didn't know her daughter was coming but she's really good company. We had a lovely catch up then I bought four house plants to replace the ones I had killed. I'll see how long these ones last. After that, I shopped at Aldi. I was very good and stuck to my list. The rest of the day was spent doing housework and washing.
I haven't had a great sleep. I managed to knock over a glass of water in my bedroom so that meant mopping up in the wee hours which woke me up. It took a while to get back over. Today I'll do a small ironing and wash the kitchen floor. I have a friend phoning for a chat this afternoon. Depending on when that is done, I might visit mum. Trout with orange and toasted almonds for dinner and possibly a deconstructed trifle for dessert. Have a good day all

Good morning from a very chilly Hayes in Kent.
We had a lovely time in London yesterday, first off watching Matilda, then a super meal.
We arrived back at DD2'S house to find the boiler had stopped working. No hot water and no heating. Luckily they have a wood burning stove in the lounge which kept that room warm and toasty.
I think we all need to wrap up warm today as they won't be able to get anyone to look at it until at least tomorrow.
This afternoon we are having a small birthday tea for DGD5.

Rotten night because of various aches and pains which I will need to try to see a doctor about as my usual technique of ignoring them is not working. Am distinctly fed up. Church in the village this morning when I am reading TS Eliot’s lovely poem about The Coming of the the Magi, but otherwise an empty day with too much space to think about what hurts. Two years since DH’s death, so that’s why I am so out of sorts.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -3°C. There is a heavy frost outside.

Susan and Baggs, you have been in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the loveliest of days yesterday. Trying to negotiate the numerous slip road closures and bus lanes was a nightmare for DIL, on our journey to the dress shop.
There were a lot of tears, ( including the four shop assistants) when Dollie, said Yes to the dress! She was beautiful ( I am biased), so innocent, but excited. Nothing over the top, the dress was simple, but stunning.
I kept the assistants amused with tales of my time as a First Communion teacher. There were many incidents, most of which were captured on camera.
Because she is so tiny, it was difficult to find something in her size.
I found myself reminiscing about DD's dress, bought in the same shop thirty seven years ago.

We had planned to go for lunch, but I was struggling to breathe in the excruciatingly cold air, so home it was. Dollie, then refused to go home, because she wanted to see her papa! Of course he was delighted and as usual went home with a secret stash of Roses/Quality Street to share with her school friends. Her friends think papa is wonderful!

Just as I was dozing resting, Babydoll appeared. Oh such joy at this unexpected visit. We had a lovely couple of hours. She just smiles all the time.
We had a good laugh about her not inheriting Dollie's dress. She is the complete opposite of Dollie, rather long and chunky! 💕

DH has just come up to complain that somehow, I have left my back window down. My car is a block off ice inside. 😱😭
I must go. I am duly chastised. My excuse, I am an old lady. 😉

Good morning everyone from an overcast Northampton, 1°C out, but sunny spells forecast later..

Spent yesterday packing away the tree and decorations; today will be spent in carting them all out to the garage, and then I will need to get the duster out before replacing the room's normal decor.

Will at some time today watch yesterday's rugby match; wasn't on tv yesterday, so listened on the radio, but is available on catch-up tv. We at one time trailed 26-0, and I was quite despondent, but staged a massive come back to win 42-36! Still top of the table!

Had a good time at yesterday's 70th birthday party, including dancing to 60s hits. The music was so loud though, that chatting was impossible. The birthday boy looked very well!
