Good Morning Sunday 14th January 2024

Good morning from a cold, dry Bristol.
It was a shock to open the serving area in church and be confronted with a wall of steam. The Burko boiler had been misfunctioning and had been boiling for two days. The whole area was sodden with condensation. I had to mop everything up. The other server helped when she arrive; it took the two of us to mostly mop and dry the cupboards. The sugar was ruined but the rest was salvageable.
The vicar wants me to sell marmalade today; the marmalade cake was very well received.
The rest of the day was quiet; a fabric parcel arrived; my neighbour arrived with her damp towel for my dryer. I have offered use of it to various residents; it’s horrid to have damp laundry hanging around.
Quiet today.

Good morning, cold and dry in s somerset

I took a long time to fall asleep and awoke far too early, I think I had something on my mind. Bills. I had my car insurance renewal and that was up 50%, I did shop around but saga did eventually give me a £10 discount. I think the reality of cost of living hit me and the ever-decreasing savings

I must knit today and prep food. It is going to be warm enough to go out at lunchtime, to avoid the sharp intake of breath. I will make a point of doing some strength-work, either outside or indoors

I should also get on with diary transfer and paperwork filing etc
not something I enjoy

Good morning from Durham.
It’s dark and the forecast is cold but dry. Changed my duvet yesterday and have been awake more than asleep as a result - it’s heavy and I feel constricted, so I’m making tea which I’ll bring back upstairs until the house warms up.
A bit of batch cooking today, DD2’s laundry to tackle and perhaps some fresh air later. I’ll see how it goes.

What a disaster, grandMattie! After two days I’m amazed the boiler hadn’t blown up!

Meeting a friend for coffee then I shall go to Mass after which I will have my weekly FaceTime chat with my pal in Leicester.

Grandmabatty, your mention of The Highland Chocolatier made my mouth water! My son and his gf brought me a box from there after they holidayed in Scotland and they certainly were a treat. I sent some to a friend recently, eye-wateringly expensive but so delicious and beautifully hand painted.

Thinking of Baggs and family today, and all for whom life is a struggle.🌹

Good morning from Cornwall where it's still and cold and Sunday-morning-quiet as the Biffa, Domino and street-cleaning trucks arrive later today.

A lovely pottering day ahead as I want to sort my patio and venture up into my wood, prior to a friend coming tomorrow to help me move my sawn-up sofa into its composting spot deep in the trees. Church at 4o'clock.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is still dark. It is zero degrees outside and frosty. Yesterday because it was such a nice day I took myself off for a walk which filled the afternoon nicely. Today I am supposed to be going to watch GS play football and then go out for a meal with him and his ma and pa, but we’ll see.

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, dark corner of Somerset.

Nodded off on the sofa last night after a day of chat and food with my cousin and her husband. Slept very well once I made it to bed too. Feeding granddaughters (fussy) and our son (eats anything as long as it’s not a vegetable) later today. We’ll enjoy catching up with their busy lives. Hope to do some garden moving this morning, see how Mr C feels.

I’ve got to dread insurance renewals karma, always a shock especially since Mr C had his 80th birthday which seems an excuse to think of a number and double it. Hope for a shock-feee day for you grandmattie, what a kerfuffle. Read your news late last night baggs. My heart goes out to you, hard to find words.

Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Morning all, I am utterly exhausted DH has succumbed to my head cold, consequently he has sniffed, coughed and fidgeted all night and kept me awake. I suggested at bedtime that he take a decongestant, but no he knew best…

Not sure what is on the agenda for today, I will probably do some more declutterring which is rather satisfying.

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire.

Mass this morning, don’t think we’ll go for brunch as I’m not enjoying our cafe as much since it changed hands. It’s quite dear and I no longer feel it’s worth the expense.

This afternoon we’re meeting DD at a dog field to allow her pup to have a good run, we’re hoping that being out in a large enclosed space will let our dogs enjoy being together.

A cold dry start in Oxfordshire, hopefully some bright skies later. I enjoyed two long dog walks yesterday, ball throwing and chasing pheasants so our dog's perfect day.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Bitterly cold here and due to snow this week. I'm anxious about getting to the airport on Thursday.

Karmalady when I phoned Saga to add my son onto my car insurance I was offered a new policy @ £100 less! I've kept him on. Worth a try. I've now added a friend too but she only got me £11 off 😉

I must start to clear the fridge, pre pack, finish projects today. Yesterday was sociable. DS and DGD took me out to lunch and neighbours invited me to supper.

My son has viral tonsillitis, his partner had it last week, lots of bugs around, so we won’t be seeing them.

Good morning everyone from a very cold Severnside.

I had a very good day yesterday. I got up late which I didn’t mind. Went outside to burn some paperwork and ended up spending three and a half hours in the garden. It was a good potter here and there and it was nice to see the blue sky. It did me good.
Today will be a pottering indoor day. I’ve a curtain to mend and the washing machine is already on.

Good morning everyone from what looks like a cold dark start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. My ring doorbell tells me it’s been raining overnight but like yesterday I’ll be having another jammy day. I watched the Quartet on Netflix yesterday it’s worth a mention to you all if you’re fond of classical music. It brought a tear to my eyes.

L’il Miss doesn’t like being outside in the cold, especially not understanding the game much! Would much rather be here, in the warm, playing with her toys or colouring.

Good morning from a dry and bright Oxfordshire.
MrOops has kindly passed on his head cold, so I’m coughing and sneezing, the Day Nurse type tablets (according to our Pharmacy actual Day Nurse tablets have been withdrawn due to an ingredient problem, Night Nurse are still available) seem to help for a while. So he will take the dog out later when she arrives and I will stay in the warm, with a box of tissues on my lap.
Jigsaw finished but a piece missing, have contacted Ravensburger for their thoughts.

Good morning, a dry start to Sunday here in south Glos.
I completed two modules of my art course yesterday, I will start the next today.
I noticed that I have more primroses out but no snowdrops yet, the wintersweet is flowering as is the vibernum with its wonderful scent.
Today a dog walk as usual, it’s still very muddy everywhere so perhaps we’ll drive further afield?

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 0° and dry. Like many of you, snow is forecast. Bellasnana the chocolates are lovely! I'm eking them out. GrandMattie what an unpleasant shock for you. Susan safe journey at this sad time. Karma it is a worry, isn't it? The cost of living is horrendous just now. I can't understand why insurance has shot through the roof.
Yesterday was a housework and washing day. Then the family popped in. It was unexpected but lovely. Dgs2 has learned more words so was busy practising them. Everything was "brown." Dgs1 wasn't well. He had a headache and was generally woebegone. Later dd said his adult molars are coming through so perhaps that was why.
Today I'll go to Aldi as I didn't go yesterday. Later I'll visit mum. In between I'll potter about. It's much to cold to spend time in the garden, although I really want to. But a bit of moss sweeping will give me outdoor time. Homemade pizza followed by baked apple for dinner. Have a good day all
