NannyG4 Sat 24-Feb-24 23:37:09

Sending you much love Baggs, you are in my prayers xx.

Urms I'm in a similar situation with my DH, though not cancer. He is stronger than me and is so positive. He doesn't know that I lay awake in the night so anxious. Every time he moves I think he's going to be poorly.... I can cope better in the day, things dont seem so bad . I hope your DH continues to make progress and you can look forward to a healthier future...... 'As long as we have each other' ..... A favourite saying of ours..... Xx

cornergran Sun 25-Feb-24 07:03:05

Keep resting soop, hope you feel so much better very soon.

Thinking of you baggs, such a hard time.

I had a similar conversation with our granddaughters other grandma some years ago grandmab. Family events were full of such mixed emotions for her. Your help will have been much appreciated and like you she did t tell her daughters how hard it was.

Excellent news urms. From you too brook, don’t overdo it though

Our Kitchen truly does hold life in miniature. Such a mix of news and so fast moving. As ever my apologies to those I’ve missed.

Some good news from here to end with. Our friend has finally made it to a new Home. I’m so relieved. Both only children we bonded aged 5 and have shared so much in 71 years of friendship . We hope to see her at some point this year if we can work out the logistics, if not it will be enough to know she’s settled.

We’ve a family gathering later. Mr C ‘s birthday today, our sons yesterday. We’ll meet for lunch then return here for snacks, cake and chaos. The only worry is more torrential rain is due, our minor roads are already rivers, the rivers overflowing, fields awash, just have to hope it’s not too bad or we’ll be eating cake for breakfast, lunch and tea grin.

Blossoming Sun 25-Feb-24 15:16:50

Good afternoon all, MrB and I are having a very leisurely Sunday. Although it’s sunny there is a very cold wind.

Good news about your friend Cornergran, happy birthday to MrC and I hope you are all enjoying the weekend celebrations.

I have done my physio exercises and am now ready for a nap grin

brook2704 Sun 25-Feb-24 17:08:47

Good afternoon kitchen pals it’s been a lovely cold but sunny day here in Inverness.
Hoping you’re well on your way back up north now SueD with a new beautiful little kitten to look after - safe travels and looking forward to seeing the pictures!
We decided to go for a short walk earlier today, down by the shoreline just five minutes drive from home. It was really quiet and peaceful and such a lovely walk. We should have picked up DGS but he decided he’d rather stay home tonight so he’s not coming for his Sunday sleepover. A bit of a disappointment but never mind - he’s growing up far too fast and staying at ours is loosing its appeal 🤣
That’s a lovely saying NannyG4 I think I’ll adopt it too if you don’t mind
Hoping soop it’s feeling a bit better today
Search good news that your friend has settled now corner and hope logistics allow a visit later on in the year. Hope your family get together is going well and it’s not raining!

Jaxjacky Sun 25-Feb-24 17:19:41

Hi kitcheners, it’s raining, again!
I have no idea what you’re going through Baggs but my heart goes out to you. x
Good your friend has moved corner and your anxiety is vastly lessened, enjoy the party.
Safe journey after kitty rescue SueD
The grandchildren went home at lunchtime and I’ve just spoken to my daughter who is hoarse from singing and chatting. Pleased to hear both ‘children’, 11 and 16 enjoyed their weekend here, not too boring at ours then.
That looks very serene brook
Enjoy your evening.

NannyG4 Sun 25-Feb-24 18:05:21

You're very welcome brook2704.....

Just on way home (Kent) from meeting an old work colleague in London , lovely day!! Where do the years go, frightening really..

Take care and love to you all....

Grandmabatty Sun 25-Feb-24 18:19:55

Good evening Kitcheners. Brook lovely photos. I would be disappointed if dgs1 didn't want to come for a sleepover too. Jaxjacky that sounds like a lovely weekend for all concerned. I have had a productive day. Polishing, hoovering, cleaning the bathroom, made lentil soup in the slow cooker and generally been a domestic goddess. I visited mum who has been moved to an individual room. It's lovely! She has a view of the car park and entrance so can people watch. She has her own tv and was busy watching a programme about Ann Boleyn. The previous occupant left a flowering plant too. It's really bright and sunny.
Tonight I'm having some boeuf bourguinon and red wine. Then it'll be a fairly early night as I'm up early tomorrow. Have a good evening all.

cornergran Sun 25-Feb-24 20:06:42

Phew. Feet up now, chaos tidied. . We’ve had a wonderful day, Mr C didn’t stop smiling. Set aside my guilt at not cooking and thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. While there is a restricted menu on your Sundays we all had something to our taste. The time flew past.

Aah. It’s hard when the grandchildren prefer to be elsewhere. Our not so Littlest isn’t keen to be away from his home at the moment. He’ll maybe come around in a few months, or maybe not. He often gets a better offer 😂

Your Mums room sounds just right grandmab. Seeing activity matters I think. Our friend is apparently enjoying watching dog walkers, she sounds to have settled amazingly quickly, hope the same for your Mum.

Beautiful photos brook. Excellent antidote to the grey skies sat over us today. Nothing to spoil the day but oh, I’d so welcome a few dry, sunny days.

Sleep well everyone.

Grannmarie Mon 26-Feb-24 11:38:25

Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. It's cold and frosty here, but with beautiful blue skies. The bed is stripped,
washing on, laundry and housework today.

What a busy kitchen over the weekend, I'm just catching up as we were out and about both days. Yesterday we visited DH'S older brother who has recently become a great grandfather. It was nice to visit with cards and gifts to share the joy. Last year he lost his younger daughter to cancer, so this new baby boy will bring his family much happiness.

On our way home we popped by to see DS3 and admire his new driveway, he's very pleased with it. Steak and jacket potatoes for dinner, then we watched WWTBAM, we like our quizzes!

Belated birthday greetings to MrCornergran, sounds like a great family celebration.

Your Mum's new room sounds ideal, Grandmabatty, it's nice to have a window of the world!

Gorgeous photos brook, you're lucky to have that nearby.

Thinking of you all, especially Soop, Baggs, Urms, SueD and all those with illness, worries or sorrow. Hoping and praying that this week will be a good one for everyone.
Take care. 🥰

Yiayia4 Mon 26-Feb-24 12:44:24

Happy belated birthday wishes to MrC,sounds like you had a lovely time.
Positive news Urms so pleased for you both.
DH is a lot better than last week,we’re waiting for blood test results and another review from G.P.
We are still waiting to hear from the filming crew,it seems our buildings management company have to approve first.
Have tried to post my frosty morning pic several times but not loading. Try again
Thinking of you Baggs.💐

soop Mon 26-Feb-24 15:15:30

Baggs I am sending special love to you today. flowers

Thank you, dear Kitcheners, for you kind messages. Indigestion continues but the jollop helps to settle the queasy tum.

Grandmafrench Your post was very interesting. I have a jar in my knicker drawer containing 19 gallstones. It was chronic indigestion (many years ago) that resulted in the gall bladder being removed. After which, the hiatus hernia was diagnosed. Meds have been very successful in controlling the acid reflux.

Thank you for suggestions regarding protein drinks. I shall investigate.

Jax Dear lady, your have certainly done something painful and debilitating to your leg. Rest! That's an order from us lot.

Grandmabatty, you have a gift. Continue to enjoy it.

Brooke wishing you a speedy recovery.

Grannmarie I have had one cataract removed. The other is "ripening" in readiness for surgery.

Grandmabatty, your darling grandson will have enjoyed his birthday treat. Five is a special age. Our great grandson will be celebrating his sixth birthday tomorrow.

Blossoming Be gentle with yourself as you continue to recover.

The same message is meant for every Granspal that has been poorly.

annsixty I am in awe of your tenacity and ability to cope with the challenges that you continue to deal with. You deserve a gold star.

Welcome to the kitchen, Galaxy. smile

NannyG4 Your message was very moving. I echo your feelings.

I must try to do a wee bit of exercise on the bike that goes no place. After which, Mr Soop and I will challenge each other to a light hearted game of Scrabble.

smile moon

soop Mon 26-Feb-24 15:17:34

Yia I love your frosty morning pic. Thank you for sharing.

Blossoming Mon 26-Feb-24 16:01:40

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. I’m still trying to catch up, story of my life!

Beautiful photos Brook and Yia, they have brightened my day. Glad you’re doing well Brook and that your husband is feeling a bit better Yia, hope the investigations are useful.

Grandmabatty your mum’s new room sounds ideal, your culinary creations sound delicious. You are such a domestic goddess I feel rather slovenly grin.

Hope your leg feels better soon Jax.

Your weekend sounds busy and fun Grannmarie, so lovely to see family and friends.

Really good to see you in here Soop. I need to get some new batteries for my bike. I can still use it but it isn’t telling me how many km I’ve done.

I hope SueD and the kitten are safe home now, looking forward to seeing some photos 🐈‍⬛

Today I’m doing a Swedish death clean, there is far too much paperwork in our ‘paperless society’! One bank in particular sends me 10 separate pieces of paper every month, I know they are legally obliged to keep customers informed but it really is OTT and it isn’t even my main bank.

I’m having a few issues with dizziness and balance, so I’m not trying to go out walking at the moment. I’m doing my physio exercises and concentrating on the ones that help my balance and my leg strength. I haven’t had any falls but a few close shaves where I’ve had to grab the furniture. Yesterday evening I’d just finished my exercises and stood up, then swung round to get something off the bedside cabinet and lost my balance. I didn’t fancy face planting on the furniture so I hurled myself sideways on to the bed. I ended up face down on the bed and it took me ages to get onto my back, by which time I couldn’t stop giggling 😂. I really do need to remember to do things slowly.

MrB is making a chicken stir fry with rice for tea. He is the best ❤️

Jaxjacky Mon 26-Feb-24 17:43:03

Hi all, what a lovely picture Yia a spot of glitter and it could be a card.
Sounding a little better soop.
I hope the boys have been little angels today Grandmabatty your Mums room sounds just right for her.
Crumbs Blossoming you have excellent reactions!
The voluntary phone has been busy today, double figures of lifts to sort out. I’m now, tentatively, walking without the stick (not stairs yet) so progress is being made. MrJ will go to quiz later.
Have a gentle evening all.

Grandmabatty Mon 26-Feb-24 18:00:35

Good evening Kitcheners. I'm pooped or enervated. The boys have been really good today. Dgs2 and I walked to Aldi and looked at diggers along the way. Then a blether with a neighbour and chocolate milk and a cake back home. He had a good nap and I had a little nap. Dgs1 had a good day at nursery and cuddled up on the couch afterwards. I've dropped them off and got petrol so all set for tomorrow. I've had a bowl of lentil soup and I'll have some boeuf bourguinon later. I'm looking at the mayhem of toys but it shouldn't take long to tidy it up. Jaxjacky I wouldn't say angels but easily distracted. Blossoming be careful. I did my Swedish death clean six years ago when I moved into my bungalow. I revisit it every year and find it therapeutic. Lovely photos from Yiayia and Brook. Grannmarie it has been a lovely sunny day here too. Dgs2 and I were in the garden for a while.
Right, off to tidy up toy cars. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

GrannyGravy13 Mon 26-Feb-24 18:09:46

Sending you (((hugs))) Baggs

NannyG4 Mon 26-Feb-24 22:10:15

Good Evening you lovely friendly 'lot'.. Still getting to know you all....

Another miserable cold day here in Kent..... Where is that sun???

Love to you all. Xx

brook2704 Mon 26-Feb-24 22:54:28

Good evening kitchen pals, a really lovely picture Yia thanks for sharing
I received a lovely message from my brother today, we keep in touch but not that frequently. I’d say that we’ve grown more friendly as we’ve aged! Anyhow him and his wife have had a few health problems recently but they’re both getting a bit better now. We’ve not met up for years as they live in Mexico but we’re hoping to meet up sometime in the not too distant future if we can arrange something.
Not done much today except a trip to the garden centre - bought a few more baby plants too
Pleased to hear you’ve had a good day grandmabatty with your little DGSs
Good progress Jax hopefully you’ll make a bit more progress each day
Goodness me Blossoming be careful, good that you fell onto the soft bed rather than a hard surface - go slowly though!
Baggs sending much love ❤️

soop Tue 27-Feb-24 14:13:01

Hello, lovely people.

Mr Soop has been feeling under the weather for a few days. He rang the GP this morning. Has to deliver a stool sample to the surgery. He's also had a letter with the results of the recent scan. abdominal aortic aneurysm remains at just over 2", so pretty stable, thank goodness. The haematologist at the Beetson cancer hospital will speak to him via a telephone consultation. He has to see the skin specialist on Thursday. His scalp is in a very sorry state. Bless him. He is such a dear, kind, supportive husband. I shall give him plenty of tender loving care.

Grannmarie Tue 27-Feb-24 17:24:59

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

I am sorry to hear about MrSoop, hoping and praying that his appointments will bring him some relief. I'm sure he'll appreciate your tender ministrations, Soop. Poor man.

Gorgeous photo, YiaYia, you have the knack! Hope MrYY is continuing to improve.

Blossoming, I'm so glad you had a soft landing! My experience of falls is that they really do catch us unawares.

Jaxjacky, I hope you're feeling a bit better today, sorry you missed your quiz night.

brook, how lovely to be planning a meet up with your brother and sister in law. Will you go to them in Mexico or maybe meet up somewhere in between like Florida?

Hope today went well with your wee boys, Grandmabatty. Treat yourself to a long lie tomorrow!

Hello and welcome, Nanny G4!

A quiet day today, Coffee morning then workman coming tomorrow. Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening, burgers, mash and greens for dinner. TOYA.

brook2704 Tue 27-Feb-24 18:32:56

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s been a cold blustery day here in Inverness. One minute sunshine and next minute showers with very cold rain. Winter hasn’t given up on us just yet 🥶
Poor Mr Soop here’s hoping he’s feeling much better soon, take care both of you
I’m just home from a lovely afternoon with my friend. We met for coffee, sat and chatted and caught up on all the news.
I think if we do meet up with my brother grannmarie it’ll probably be a Mexico but will see. They live in a lovely traditional town on the side of a lake so it’s nice for us to visit if we can.
I’m hoping to visit DD1 in Cambridge at the end of the week as it’s my youngest DGSs 7th birthday on Sunday. I’m just on tenterhooks waiting for my appointment to come through to have the stitches removed after my eye operation I’m going to phone them tomorrow if I’ve not heard anything and try and pin them down to a date so I can go away not worrying. I’m going to miss my appointment!
Hoping your knees a bit better again today Jax and you can get out and about a bit
Grandmabatty hope the little boys have been good for you again today and you can now relax with your feet up 😀

Blossoming Tue 27-Feb-24 18:47:41

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been cold and drizzly here all day, then finally stopped just in time for sunset. I love the lighter days now.

Hello and welcome *NannyG4.

I’m sorry MrSoop is feeling poorly Soop and his scalp is still giving problems, hope his appointments are helpful.

It would be lovely to meet up with your brother and family Brook, I miss mine as we can’t meet up as much as we used to. I will see them at Easter anyway.

I hope the leg continues to improve Jax and you’re soon out and about again.

Hello Grannmarie 👋🏻. When I was still in hospital following my brain injury my physio told me it was inevitable I would have a few falls whilst learning to walk again. So he devoted some time to teaching me how to fall safely grin. It was good advice, relax the muscles, aim for a soft landing and, met importantly for someone with a brain injury, protect your head. It’s been useful ever since, though ‘don’t fall’ is the best thing to do!

Today’s Swedish death clean was postponed as I’m a little under the weather, so have been listening to the radio and podcasts instead. I’ve finished The Thursday Murder Club after a slow start. I enjoyed it very much and am looking for the next in the series.

Have a good evening everyone and a restful night.

Thinking of you on your grief Baggs❤️

Blossoming Tue 27-Feb-24 18:49:07

*most importantly

SueDonim Tue 27-Feb-24 18:52:16

Is that a photo, Yia? It looks like a painting! It’s gorgeous.
Poor Mr Soop, he has his travails, doesn’t he? sad At least he has you, Soop to minister to him, as I know he does with you, in turn. ❤️
I hope you get to Cambridge, Brook and to Mexico, too. We has similar weather today. Dh went out. I didn’t. grin
Another busy day with the wee boys, GMbatty!
Ouff at the fall, Blossoming. I’m glad you weren’t badly hurt.

We have our second kitten here! She is more nervous than no 1 kitten but she’s getting used to us. She has been using some very rude cat language to No 1 kitten - he is quite affronted at her choice of words! 😂 Today they’ve been playing together at times, which is fun and chaotic. Yesterday we thought we had lost her though, which gave us a fright. It didn’t seem possible that she could have got out but there was that possibility. In the end, when I was crawling round on the floor peering under furniture, I spotted a gap behind some books on a shelf - and there she was, thank goodness.

I don’t have any decent photos yet. They’re like greased lightening and it’s been impossible to get a good snap!

Apart from playing with kittens (what a time waster they are!) I’ve been tidying and putting together dd2’s birthday present to send to her. Also a little parcel for my dil in the US and arranging my oldest Gd’s birthday present.

I’m looking forward to bedtime tonight as I’ve got a headache. Hopefully a d cent nights sleep will help.

TOYA. Xxx
