Good news that Catherine is being seen again since her operation with a lovely family photo taken last week for Mother’s Day. Yes it’s the DM.

NotSpaghetti

Not sure they would be if for publication Callistemon21 - not beyond what is permitted.
Obviously personal may be edited (eg, my daughter had the clasp edited out of

Yes, of course.
It's a pity she felt the need to issue a photograph at all and can't just recuperate in peace.

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:42:14

‘Public figure’ then. Either way, do you understand my point? The issue isn’t about a flattering photo or even this photo in particular, it’s about the standards that photo and news agencies have to adhere to.

Nannapat1 Mon 11-Mar-24 15:48:06

A lovely photo. However this morning I've heard nothing but criticism that it was manipulated and that believing it to be so, 4 organisations have 'pulled' it. For goodness sake who doesn't edit their photos!

AmberSpyglass Mon 11-Mar-24 15:52:25

The issue is that we’re treating this like any other family rather than essentially a major corporation - they’re not known as The Firm for nothing!

Kate has been seen accompanying William in a car leaving Windsor this afternoon. William went on to a ceremony but it’s not noon where Kate then went.

Known not noon

I hope it was to see her parents for some love and support.

Can I give a illustration of how I feel photoshopping can be a complete lie. I love to get up early and take pictures of the sunrise from my nearby beach I never photoshop as I think the beauty is in itself often after I get home I ll see a sunrise photo on FB or a similar site even on the local news with brilliant deep red, scarlets, purples, oranges that just didn’t exist It’s a lie and it never fails to irritate me especially with all the comments of how marvellous it is, what a fantastic sunrise

I think you will find such a picture as you have seen will not be photo-shopped but has used enhanced lens filters on a quality digital camera, the actual photograph as seen by the camera through such a filter.

Jaberwok Mon 11-Mar-24 17:12:18

With hindsight it's a pity the Wales's issued a photo at all, then all this ridiculous trauma would have been avoided. I doubt very much that we will see any more happy family photos, just not worth the hassle, which will be our loss.

lemsip Mon 11-Mar-24 17:13:13

she has 'gathered' her family closer by cropping the photo.

failing to realise it will be spotted by those into photography.

have done this myself with old photos

JenniferEccles Mon 11-Mar-24 17:15:39

It seems significant to me that ‘the team ‘ have said they won’t release the original picture, the one allegedly taken by William, a week or two ago.

Jaberwok Mon 11-Mar-24 17:33:43

The sad thing is that this lovely photo was put out with the best of intentions but has unfortunately failed and just brought retribution down on Catherine's head. It won't happen again as from now on I expect all photos will be professional , formal and dull not carefee. If indeed there are any more photos. Why should they have to release the original and attract more hateful comments?

Anniebach Mon 11-Mar-24 17:37:28

Agree jaberwok and I doubt William will give in to the pressure

Mollygo Mon 11-Mar-24 17:43:58

Exactly and this is the reaction form GN about the formal pic. Remember?

But GN arent the reactions that count, what counts is that it was against the regulations for the press. All of GN could think it was a work of art and that fact would remain the same.

Imagine it was a prolapse op? Would you like the world to know?
I believe Catherine is very conscientious and a worrier. All this hoo ha won’t help someone convalescing.
I’m reluctant to drag Diana into this, but she did enjoy stirring things up and even possibly the drama it invoked. I think Catherine is the opposite, she desperately wants to do the right thing and this will have a bad effect on her.

Why is it significant?

I don’t blame them. It would just be pulled apart again by all the conspiracy theorists.

Anniebach Mon 11-Mar-24 20:48:03

All she has done is chosen not to disclose why she needed surgery and pose for cameras, released a photograph not for
money or publicity but showing her children happy and relaxed, big crimes not

Mollygo Mon 11-Mar-24 21:16:20

Yes Anniebach it’s NOOB but the GBP want more! e.g.
Why should she be allowed to keep her medical information secret?
Why shouldn’t we be able to comment?
Even the kinder ones who might be sending sympathy or get well soon cards are rubbing in the fact that she’s not entitled to any privacy.
I’ve been waiting for the we pay for them claim. Have I missed it.
She made a mistake by offering a photo that had been edited, so in effect wasn’t truthful, but does that really mean we should hound her further?

Goldieoldie15 Tue 12-Mar-24 12:24:40

I find all this adoration and forelock tugging quite nauseating. And I am a royalist. But moderation is in order here.

pably15 Tue 12-Mar-24 12:37:58

why can't people leave Kate alone, for goodness sake this was a lovely photo that she shared on mother's day, so what if it was edited....I don't think that's a crime

Bridgeit Tue 12-Mar-24 12:42:56

Totally agree Pably15

Jaberwok Wed 13-Mar-24 08:39:26

I don't think anybody tugs their forelock anymore, and for certain the RF don't expect or indeed want anyone to. Bowing and curtsying have been optional for years now, shaking hands being perfectly acceptable. The media are still in full cry after their prey this morning! If only they could just leave it alone now. Poor Catherine is said to be very upset at this unintentional error and has apologised, when no apology was necessary. Why can't everyone just leave her alone. It won't happen again, only formal photos in the future. The hateful media should feel well pleased with themselves!

Washerwoman Wed 13-Mar-24 09:47:53

All the speculation and baying for evidence she is alive and well due to some crackpot conspiracies on SM obviously made them think this was a good idea.I bet now they wish they hadn't bothered and waited until after Easter for Catherine to reappear.Probably totally unrelated but I've kept thinking about a relative who has raging endometriosis and needed major surgery for abdominal adhesions. Her work were understanding snd she was given ample time to recover. Prior to that she had outwardly seemed fine but struggled with pain and fatigue for years.Poor Catherine if it's a similar condition and now this we'll intentioned photo has caused more upset.

Jaberwok Wed 13-Mar-24 09:56:05

You're so right. Done for the best of intentions, I bet they wish they'd kept their photo to themselves, they won't make that mistake again. The real sadness is that from now on there will be no more casual happy family snapshots taken informally, just formal, posed, dull pics taken at certain appropriate times.
