Harry and Meghan ‘royal’ tour of Nigeria.

No matter what the facts are this is going to be reported on as being an official royal tour. This tour will be fully publicised in the press and have a lot of coverage perhaps to the detriment of the rest of the royal family.

Comparisons could be made between ‘youthful’ and energetic H and M and the elderly ailing king and Catherine also ailing.

Surely this is a kick in the teeth to Charles and William. I think their titles need to be removed asap, as I don’t think that H and M will ever stop trading on the RF name that they no longer want to be associated with.

Anniebach

Megan will continue to be very much involved, there are cameras

I'm sure my DH wouldn't have wanted me there when he was chairing meetings, giving lectures ....
A distraction from the main event.

Megan seems to think she is the main event, why a speech apologising for being a little late for the games,

Some of us are giving attention to people we are saying do not deserve attention.

Laughable. Wasting a lot of Nigerian time.

H and M no longer have HRH titles. So not sure why this would be reported as an official royal tour when they aren’t officially working royals!! They can report the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are touring or even Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex are touring but not HRH. etc. not a royal tour at all. They’ve just become ‘celebrities’ now, something to fill the tabloids with!

Would have the Invictus Games without Harry? He used his title then but nobody complained. Imagine being in his position knowing that you are a RF member but of no consequence. It must be very depressing but his support for veteran and injured soldiers is as good as anybody's.

..

,..... without intrusion!!

Although it rankles, if H & M were stripped of their Duke and Duchess titles, they would, officially, be known as Prince and Princess. Which is worse?

Sadoldwoman Sun 05-May-24 12:06:25

That’s lovely, I’ll look forward to reading about their tour of Nigeria.

ixion Sun 05-May-24 12:09:41

Would Meghan then not be known as Princess Henry, like Princess Michael of Kent?

Can't see that going down too well.

Aveline Sun 05-May-24 12:10:22

I feel sad for you Sadoldwoman!

Dillonsgranma Sun 05-May-24 12:22:21

Frankly, this couple make me sick 🤮
The ginger and the whinger
If I never heard their names again , it would be too soon
The nerve of them ! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

You consider Princess Anne, Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh
of no significance ?

I have been watching the Michael Palin documentary from Nigeria, not sure how popular H & M will be when they arrive.

There is an anti British feeling which comes across several times in the programme particularly when the subject of their artefacts which are in the British Museum which the Nigerian Government and people want returned.

Does Meghan accompany Harry when he is pursuing his court cases in London?
Will she accompany Harry when he attends the service in St. Paul's Cathedral on May 8th to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus games.
No. Thought not.

The British Foreign Office advises against travel to all parts of Nigeria. Harry will no doubt blame his lack of UK tax payer funded security if anything goes wrong.

I may be wrong but I understood while the Invictus Games were started by Prince Harry, the Prince and Princess Wales also played a major part in their early days, Prince William quietly transferring $1.11 million from his 2020 settlement with the British newspapers to the Invictus Games Foundation.
Be that as it may, a pic in todays newspaper of Princess Anne during the playing of the Canadian National Anthem contrasts strongly with reports of Meghan eye rolling, smirking and apparently mocking the singing of the same anthem, O Canada by a young woman on the Autistic Spectrum last November.
I don’t think she will be missed at the service at St Paul’s.

You’re absolutely right 👏👏👏👏👏👏

I think it’s a bit of a joke really! Meghan has recently ‘discovered’ she has ethnic links to Nigeria, hasn’t she? So it’s useful to emphasise those as a ‘woman of colour’ I guess. Helps the publicity and hopefully the bank balance no end! I don’t think that they put our dignified Royal Family in the shade at all. They just come across as publicity hungry, money grubbing grifters who’d go to the opening of an envelope if it paid enough. And of course, even better if it can possibly be conceived as emphasising their ‘caring’ and ‘humanitarian’ credentials!

Curtaintwitcher Sun 05-May-24 16:54:37

I thought Meghan wanted to visit Nigeria to find her roots? I'm surprised more black people don't do that.
She might find that she prefers the land of her ancestors, especially if they regard her as a substitute for royalty. She might end up as Queen Meghan somewhere...isn't that what she has always wanted?

Anniebach Sun 05-May-24 17:09:09

So strange, could she be unaware of the lies she has told, she has such a need to be centre of attention

Iam64 Sun 05-May-24 18:56:53

* I thought Meghan wanted to visit Nigeria to find her roots. surprised more black people don’t do that*
Really? It’s her slave ancestory roots. Most black Americans/jamaicans and more have no idea where their slave ancestors were grabbed from.

Anniebach Sun 05-May-24 22:13:59

We may hear the truth or her truth

TiggyW Mon 06-May-24 10:57:24

I’d like to find out about my roots (I suspect at least a dash of Viking - anybody remember ‘The Blood Donor’?), but I won’t get a free holiday to find out.
