Giovanni Pernice what is going on?

Not really

Popular TV personalities have been protected from bad publicity in the past because they are "bankable". It may be that complaints are being suppressed because he is still a money spinner for the corporation. I don't watch Strictly so I don't have any reason to like or dislike him.

I dont know enough about the complaints or about how they have been made.

I don't watch Strictly and don't know who he is but as far as this professional female dancer's concerned if she's got something to say then she should say it or keep quiet.

I hate the way people's reputations and in some cases lives can be destroyed by a trial by media. If he can be named then so should she.

It's a number of women I think.

Giovanni has always come across as quite arrogant, he is a perfectionist about dancing techniques, and can be difficult to work with. IMO.
He rose to “fame” quickly on Strictly and he now believes he is “the best” dancer/teacher who is irresistible to women.
He said on camera to one of his celebrity lady partners “you are lucky to be dancing with me every day”.
I beg to differ - none of what I see or hear about this man makes him irresistible to me, but maybe he is an acquired taste.

He is an excellent dancer but maybe he should dance alone.

Until I see evidence to the contary I will continue to think that Giovanni is just an ambitious and arrogant man. I would think he would be extremely demanding and hard to work with as he is a perfectionist.
However I think the celebs would be very naive if they went into Strictly not expecting that and feel it wrong that all of a sudden these women in the past are making unsubstantiated allegations (at the moment).

Why did they not raise the issue at the time and not jump on the bandwagon when Amanda Abbington raised concerns. This could ruin his career and it could be that Amanda just didn't like him. Time will tell.

From what I gather, he is a hard taskmaster, putting the dancers through gruelling training sessions. I think many of these so called celebs have no idea what hard work is and when they sign up for a show like Strictly they should put their heart and soul into it and stop whinging about how hard the training sessions are. They are there to win and not be paid for faffing about.

BBC have all the videos of training sessions so the truth will come out in about 25/50 years because the BBC are not known for their quick actions to complaints.

If the man concerned has done nothing wrong then he won't have anything to worry about because the videos of training sessions will tell it like it was.

I saw online this morning that a number of the pro dancers are worried now, after the witch hunt re Gio, that if they are partnered with a celeb who can't take the pace, or doesn't want to, and then complains, they will be in the same situation as him.

They are asking for more psychological assessments of the celebs like (apparently) the reality TV shows do, to find out who can cope and who can't.

LottieLouise The BBC are apparently in the process now of looking through 9 years of training session videos.

The best celebs on Strictly are the athletes. They take constructive criticism well and act upon it, presumably because they are used to it from their coaches, and they are also used to extremely hard work and a lot of practice. You never hear them complain.

Brendan Cole used to be extremely critical of some of his celebrity partners if they weren’t much good.

Expect it wouldn’t be allowed now, it would be classed as ‘bullying’.

If anyone has a complaint, they should complain through the proper channels; social media isn't one of them.

Yes, I saw that, but as she won't say what it is, her complaint is pretty meaningless.

"He did horrible things but I will not speak of them" - so why mention it at all??
Save it for the courts, if it's going that far, and sort it out there instead of taunting the nosey ones that are ultimately going to ask, "What did he do?"

It sounds to me like an embittered Amanda Abbington unable to face the fact she wasn't up to the challenge, and pursuing a vendetta in the hope of compensation.
She is from the show business world and knew the level of commitment expected.

Giovanni has instructed solicitors to act on his behalf- defamation, loss of earnings etc and the BBC are now 'wading through 9 years of tapes'.
Rose ( or a spokesperson on her behalf) has said that she believes what the 3 women said ( their solicitors apparently charge £700 per hour!) but she hasn't said anything negative about her experience with Gio, ( its being presumed that because there was always an interpreter present maybe she didnt have the same alleged over strict training...)
Other Strictly pros are quietly distancing themselves from Gio (and other than Anton dont seem to have come out in support) on social media it seems, and Michelle Visage is rumoured to be coming out in support of the 3 women with Faye Tozer being quoted as having spoken out about difficulties in the training room- whether at the time or since I dont know, but shes been mentioned in news articles.
All in all its a mess and it has been said (although I think its highly unlikely) that this could be the end of Strictly in the format as we know it.
Its being said that the BBC will need to improve safeguarding measures eg chaperones present at every training session for every couple and more robust psychological assessments before celebs are finally selected to see if theyll be able to cope...no idea how this is going to play out, at all.
Feel very sad that its come to this tbh.
