Hello everyone. Another here who is bowing out for a while. Not really because of the kerfuffle, more that I need to pull back and focus on stabilising my health for a bit.

I’m hoping the kerfuffle has past and you’ll all be here when I return, as I’m sure I will if you’ll still have me

A busy day ahead for me and Mr Soop. I have not forgotten that several of you are dealing with a variety of health issues. You remain, as ever, in my thoughts.

The Red Arrows are due to fly along the coast mid afternoon. We'll hope to catch sight of them.

As it was such a beautiful morning I went for a walk. My hips and legs are so stiff and sore these days that it's hard going but I enjoyed being out and meeting the dog walkers that I have got to know over the years.💐💐💐 to all who may need a little uplifting today.

Will miss you cornergran, hope things improve health wise and you’re back with us again soon x

Hello kitchen people. Don’t stay away too long Corner. I hope others such as Urms won’t stay away too long either!

I had another good day in London. This time younger son and I went to the photographic exhibition at the Kings Gallery at Buckingham Palace. It was very impressive.

We had a delicious lunch too and drinks in a pub which younger son frequents near his office. In fact he showed me where he works now in Westminster. It is just minutes from Westminster Abbey. As he’s a civil servant he’s not allowed to say who he’s voting for. We had a Quick Look at the Houses of Parliament and a peek at a demo which was going on. By the time I got home, my knees were killing me, but it was a good day.

Cornergran, I will miss you. I always enjoy reading your posts. Best wishes to you and MrC, you will be welcomed with open arms on your return.

Grandmabatty, sorry I got confused about the nursing home. I can't believe how dear it is! Hope you find the best fit soon.

Just popping in to say I hope summery weather is reaching our special kitchen and all parts of the U.K. It can bring out the positivity which so many GN kitcheners are seeking when times are tough.
I think I would like to come back as a cat in the next life; it seems a happy little world that my two live in.

Good afternoon all.
Corner enjoy your break and haste ye back, fully rested and restored.
I am just back from a lovely afternoon in our local park, five minutes from me where the local brass band were giving a concert.
It was two hours of delightful music.
The sun shone, people took their own chairs and blankets and some took picnics.
I had my own seat as I was on my scooter and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
Salmon out for later and I have cooked jersey royals to make potato salad.
I may have a glass of something white and chilled to go with it but not much as I have been summoned by my GP for bloods and blood pressure check on Wednesday.
I can’t remember when I last went but it is only a nurse.
I think all the Drs have left!!
It is still hot out so enjoy it while you can everyone who can.

TillyTrotter what a gorgeous relaxed pair you have. If I returned as a cat it would have to be a home like yours as that pair look very well cared for.

I am over the moon for a daft reason- I can hear again. I have a mega serious problem which has affected my acoustic nerve so I am reduced to lip reading. The NHS hearing aids were useless but my private ones which have been in situ for 2 hours actually work so I may be able to hear a doorbell or phone again. A minor miracle.

It will be a pleasure to celebrate your good news with you*Charleygirl*. The sense of sound is such an important one to keep you in touch with the world 🎉 💐

The kittens have good old-fashioned names: Alfie and Fred.

Chilled white wine, salmon and little jersey potatoes are wonderful companions for a Summer’s Day annsixty .

If I had a vague idea where you lived TillyTrotter I may well be sneaking in to borrow that gorgeous pair to give them lots of love and cuddles.

I amsure they would be happy to share my bed.

Smashing news Charley, I had mine microsuctioned last week, again, so I can vaguely relate to a little hearing loss, you must be ecstatic.
A leisurely day (sounds better than lazy), still reading yesterday’s paper. My daughter and children didn’t make today, she had a migraine, they disturb her vision and make her nauseous, I’ll ring later to see how she is.
MrJ won a decent sized boneless shoulder of pork in the pub an hour ago, pulled pork for the family at a later date.

Summer has definitely arrived in Inverness, a really warm day with the odd wisp of cloud.. DH is still suffering with this awful flu type virus, I think it’s the one that DGD had as the symptoms are more or less the same and he’s been asleep most of the day. Luckily I’m ok thank goodness and hope it stays that way. DD2 and family have just left, time for my feet up now.

I had a lovely afternoon too at a garden party. Chat, fizzy alcohol or non alcohol and canapés. It was very warm but there were pergolas galore. I dressed up for the occasion and looked not too shabby. Then home and a trout fillet with salad and new potatoes for dinner. I'm about to have a couple of macarons. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Your dinner sounds like mine Grandmabatty are you having wine or did you imbibe this afternoon?
Ihave a love of canapés and when I do have them, once in a blue moon, I could actually make a meal of them, fortunately, or not, they are usually restricted to 4/5.
My potato salad is made and I can eat whenever I am ready.

Good news for you Charlie, it must be such a relief for you. I love the sound of your afternoon Annsixty, great that the weather behaved itself and for your garden party Grandmabatty. It’s been very warm here in Essex, but cloudy this afternoon. I managed a little weeding until my back protested! Lots of salads for Gransnetter dinners this evening!

Annsixty, your post took me back many years, to when my hubby was a brass bandsman, for Cheetham Hill Band. Many happy afternoons were spent in parks back then. Your scooter was probably more comfy than the little chairs the parks used to provide.

I was going to bide my time until we had a new Kitchen before returning to posting here but I confess, the lure of kittens was too much to resist. They are gorgeous, Tilly. Though I’ve never met a cat I didn’t like.

Charlie that must seem like a miracle! I’m so happy for you.
I’m sorry to hear that Dh is unwell, Brook. I hope he recovers soon. So many people I know seem to be going down with Covid again - I hope it doesn’t arrive on our doorstep or anyone else’s , come to that.

We’re about halfway through the repairs on our house now. It’s been a hard slog, with so many workmen around and the mess and noise but we’re getting there. Things are being put back instead of ripped out so that must be progress! At least it’s summer time, it would be awful to go through this in winter.

I’ve done some work in the garden so that’s looking tidier and we’ve taken advantage of having a skip in the drive to get rid of some rubbish from the garage. We can see the floor in there now!

We’ve still been looking after the GC. We had to bring the 2yo here last week and he was agog at the state it’s in. ‘House broken! My hammer, drill, (work)bench! My fix it, Nanna!’ ❤️

My youngest dd is out in the States at the moment, visiting her brother. It’s very warm there, over 30deg. She doesn’t mind that, unlike me. I’m only comfortable between 20-24deg.
