It doesn't matter if the name is out there already but I would have preferred his family remained protected until those contributing to violent riots based on false information had calmed

He has been named by order of the the Judge at Liverpool Crown court, and pictures released.
His name is Axel Muganwa Rudakubana, and he will be 18 on August 7th. He was born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff,

Seeing the pic, he looks little more than a child himself.

In the doorbell footage of him in a green hoodie he is head and shoulders above the cars, and almost as tall as the front door. His physique isn't that of a child, he is the same height as the police who surrounded the property.
I haven't looked at the older photos released today.

Presumably to diffuse any further trouble-stirring against, presumably , ordinary law-abiding UK citizens who are Muslims, he has now been named apparently three days before his 18th birthday.
Other than this practicality , how does his name help?
It is a tragedy also for his family and friends.
Surely without any shadow of a doubt this person has a severe mental illness , perhaps undiagnosed/untreated schizophrenia ?
How otherwise at close range could someone stick a knife in a defenceless six year old child ?

I thought long and hard about posting the photo.

My sympathies lie with the murdered girls, those still lying in hospital critically injured and all of their family and friends.

I have zero sympathy for the mass murderer of little girls 🤬

Something went wrong somewhere for every human being who hurts another

This tragedy and trauma will cause more

I agree.He has a diagnosis of Autism but may have had no help in spite of that and could have added mental health problems.

Knowing his identity stops other people being wrongly identified.
I would trust the judgement of the Judge in releasing the name.

Oreo there are 1,000’s of autistic children in the U.K., my GS is one.

They do not go around stabbing defenceless little girls.

To be fair I don't think Oreo was saying anything bad about autistic people there

I am one and work with children/get very passionate about child protection

But we should be careful how we talk about autism after knowing this information, so many people have little understanding or tolerance for autism as it is

I'm sure the judge has a better grip on things than anyone. I trust his words.
By continuing to prevent full reporting at this stage has the disadvantage of allowing others who are up to mischief to continue to spread misinformation in a vacuum. Allowing full reporting will undoubtedly remove some of the misreporting as to the identity of the defendant.

The judge has made a considered response and we should all trust in that judgment.

I have the same feelings as you GG. No sympathy for him at all.
My sympathy is reserved for the bereaved parents and the parents sitting by the bedsides of critically injured children.
