Winter draws on? 🩲 🩲

I’ve just looked up when the equinox will be this year, and apparently it’s the 22 September. It can fall any time between the 20th and 24th September apparently. Every day is a school day 😅.

Still very hot here and winter is still a long way away.

I love all seasons, and I love them to be clearly marked. May/June/October/February are my favourite months. Hope we do get lots of snow this winter- from mid December to mid March- plenty of time to enjoy autumn though <3

I'm in East Anglia and it's barely warm enough for me. So far it's only been hot enough for half a dozen days this year, tonight it's supposed to drop to 10 degrees so I have my winter duvet ready in case I need it. I love the heat.

I love summer sitting outside in the garden with all the flowers lookimg lovely. No not looking forward to
Autumn and winter. However, this morning just couldn’t see across the fields due to a heavy mist. Guess like you said it’s just around the corner. I’m hoping the next few weeks will remain nice while my once a year visit from my family who live at the other side of the world are here

For me it would be February, when we've already had months of grey skies and rain with possibly snow to come and Spring is still a way off.

MOnica I will invite you to rake up my 2 tons of conkers this Atumn and a ton of leaves!!!!

Not so sure about the conkers! We have 4 chestnuts in front of the house, I get my fill of those.

It is still summer, but the sun and trees do not know this and they change the quality of their light and the colour of the leaves without reference to the official seasons.

i love winter and in scotland hoping for snow.

Spring
Summer
Autumn
Winter

I can’t see anything nice about winter and hate the dark nights. I remarked last night that it was getting dark earlier and at 21.00 it felt like the middle of the night. Don’t enjoy going out when it’s dark and it always seems earlier when it’s light until 22.00.

Spring is my absolute fav season, followed by Autumn.

Me too! I don't cope well with hot weather. I used to enjoy winter too, but since losing a lot of weight I feel the cold more and with the cost of heating these days I'm not looking forward to the colder weather, especially now we've lost our winter fuel allowance!

Average temperature this year in July and August (London) is 19C. In June it was 15 C.
Hardly a boiling Summer. So few very hot days.

Hate winter so making the most of the WARM weather.

We live in a very temperate climate as well, so I admit that I'm sad to see the days get shorter, and the cooler weather arrive.
We tend to get a lot of rain and dreary clouds in the fall, so I will enjoy the warmth of the sun while it is here!

I do like fall clothing though! I think I need a nice new knit in a bright colour...

Of course those Scots among us would never have suffered the confusion as we clearly say “Draw-ers”

Me too.
Hot weather can be as restrictive as cold weather imho, it means we couldn’t go for our long walks, and even the garden became unbearable, so we sat indoors with the blinds closed, which is not pleasant. Also I suffer migraines and get clusters of them in hot weather.
Not as great as you think 🤔
Moderate temps if 21/22 is much better with night time temps of 14/16.
We’re not there yet.

I’m surprised that as (presumably) an adult learner of English as a second language, you were not taught the correct (ie Received ) Pronunciation

Glorious day here in S Hampshire, peaked at 24 earlier, we sat outside with friends at our local, hose out for the garden when we returned. Perfect.

Oh dear, really?

I learnt, in London, Stoke, Leicester- and acquired a huge panoply of registers, local expressions and pronounciations.

I weren't frit to.

I love summer and have been so disappointed in the weather this year. I have winter , the only good part of it is Christmas. I can just about put up with autumn. I have having to put on lots of layers life light clothes and sandals

Can you clarify Fleurpepper - “In the OP, a noun or a verb?” Which OP are you referring to, and what do you mean? I’m probably being a bit thick, but, as a teacher once said to me, never be afraid to ask 😁.

Autumn has always been my favourite season, looking forward to cosy evenings - but not any more. My DH died 10 weeks ago and I’m really not looking forward to those longer nights. I’m muddling along tho.

I love Autumn too but I do want some Summer first and we haven’t had enough of it as yet.😡
The spiders think it’s Autumn tho as I’ve just whacked, in a Mafia sense, two of them, great big things.
