Another missing poster

If this were a light hearted thread, I’d be tempted to suggest that Gransnet is beginning to feel like Midsomer Murders. Yet another poster has disappeared in mysterious circumstances.

It’s deadly serious though. Attempts to contact Urmstongran are falling on stony ground and many of us are concerned because we know how challenging her life is at the moment.

Many of us have received messages of support from Urms when life has dealt us the cruellest of blows and yet we are unable to contact her via pms.

She always let us know when she was taking a break from GN so to go on a long awaited holiday and just disappear is out of character.

I suspect foul play and I’m not taking the p**s!

I haven't seen her about recently either...

Another regular missing ! First GSM , now URMS 😫

Cossy Sat 31-Aug-24 11:25:19

I’d just really like to know our “missing” GNs are well and healthy and just taking a break!

I wish they’d all come back flowers

I am in touch with Urmstongran she is well.

Unfortunately she is experiencing technical difficulties with GN, and GNHQ are not responding.

merlotgran Sat 31-Aug-24 11:31:46

Thank you, GrannyGravy

Technical difficulties? 🤔🤔

Come on HQ. Sort it out, please!

Ashcombe Sat 31-Aug-24 11:33:28

Thank you for that reassuring post, GrannyGravy13. Many of the Good Morning regulars will be pleased to know that. 👍

Oh phew GrannyGravy13 thank you , I was concerned.

Whitewave is absent too.

Add to the list Joseann and Callistemon who I believe are not posting any more. These missing posters all have something in common. Midsomer Murders indeed. Let's hope some of them are simply on holiday and that anyone who has been banned is reinstated otherwise this site will become a very boring echo chamber.

Cossy Sat 31-Aug-24 11:34:40

Thank you GG13, good to know.

Anyone know about GSM

GrannyGravy13 Sat 31-Aug-24 11:40:01

Joseann has voluntarily left GN

Callistemon has been banned from GN

I think she was suspended for a few weeks and has now decided to ,eave GN.

Caleo Sat 31-Aug-24 11:43:19

Grans net is good for treating posters as real flesh and blood people. It's very appropriate that we wonder if someone has died or what .

Caleo Sat 31-Aug-24 11:47:13

PS I am saddened that some poster, any poster, has 'Been Suspended'. The management seems to be unduly illiberal and high handed. In writing this I fear the management will suspend myself for its own mysterious unreasons.

petra Sat 31-Aug-24 11:47:29

I’ve said this before but it’s worth repeating.
If you are friends with another member: exchange email addresses.
When HQ ban you it is done before you are notified. Therefore you can’t send PMs.

I miss GSM - she was so helpful. She was generous with her legal advice p, in a very understated way.

BigBopper Sat 31-Aug-24 11:58:48

I think that some of the posters who got their hands slapped are coming back under another non-de-plume. I can easily tell who they used to be even though they have changed their name, simply because of the way they answer posts.

There were a few posters who were banned because of the way they made fun of certain people who posted and even though they have changed their name, they cannot change the way they answer peoples posts, a leopard never changes it's spots.

In fact I have been thinking of leaving because without those posters, the website was more pleasant but now they are back it is not as pleasant.

Charleygirl5 Sat 31-Aug-24 12:01:17

I agree. I enjoyed reading her posts as they were so informative.

The late GreatNan!was often at odds with HQ but they were a sensible, good humoured lot in those days.

Imagine if we had not been able to raise the alarm when she went missing! It was a sad outcome but Gransnet played a huge part in raising the alarm because we knew her and her love of walking alone in the mountains.

GSM has not decided to leave. She very much wants to come back. We can only hope she is allowed back because she freely gives valuable legal advice to other posters on a whole range of issues and this is always very much appreciated.

crazyH Sat 31-Aug-24 12:07:42

shinamae - please give GSM my fondest regards.

We did indeed, I remember contacting various French mountain rescue groups. It was a very sad ending.
Can't imagine the pantomime happening these days either.
