Thanks Gingster I might have to pop over and have a look if I am unsuccessful at Mayflower 👍

Just about to go and de-ice the car ❄️❄️❄️

Good morning all. It's a somewhat chilly -1° here on the Angus coast, but I love these beautiful dawns with clear blue skies and wispy pink clouds. Sunrise isn't until 8.17 today.
My car passed its MOT yesterday thank goodness but has to go back in next week for a new exhaust part.
I haven't read your posts yet as I have to be out soon for tai chi, but I hope all the poorlies feel a bit better and those being attacked by Storm Conel are warm and water tight. Keep warm all x

Good morning from chilly West Berkshire.
I noticed that grandMattie hasn’t posted yet, and she is always an early-bird.

I do hope that she is OK - I’m sending her a (((hug))) just in case.

Morning all from a very frosty West Oxfordshire,

We booked a holiday yesterday! A cruise through France/Germany/Switzerland next July! It’s good to have something to look forward to. We generally have a British holiday too, often self catering in a cottage, but can’t decide where. Dorset!

It is my Book Group today at lunchtime. I haven’t quite finished the recommended book … I kept returning to the Plantagenets.

OH reckons he’s going to clear out the guttering on our conservatory today. He did quite a bit of weeding yesterday in a part of the garden the gardener doesn’t deal with. However, it might be too icy and cold.

Have a good day, especially those of you with concerns.

Good morning from a 0 W Kent. Obviously talking all day yesterday is good for me as I have had a much longer sleep than usual. Art group this morning, last of the year and then a drive out to collect some model trains with DH.
Hope all goes well Autumncolours
and you feel better Susan
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a bright frosty Suffolk after torrential rain yesterday. I struggled in for my keep fit class through flooded lanes and realised that I shouldn’t stay in case I couldn’t get home. I knew that even if the rain stopped, the run off from the fields would continue for several more hours and our lanes are surrounded by drained open fields.

In the days when farmers dug out the ditches, rain water from the fields had some where to go but, sadly, that doesn’t happen now. At least I saw my friend before the class started and our shopping trip has been postponed till next week.

I normally sleep well but not last night. I had a hacking coffee and, according to DH,was clammy,so I’ve decided not to go to my stretch class and keep whatever I might be brewing to myself.

A second cuppa beckons and I’ll read your posts. Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very frosty Carlisle where it's -2°C . Just a sliver of moon hung in the sky over our houses at dawn.

The frost kept me out of the garden yesterday but I could be tempted out today to prune my crab apple which is a vigorous beast. A pair of blackbirds seemingly inhabit a photinia over the fence, they are constantly in my garden these days, scoffing the apples and mealworms I put out. The poor robin doesn't seem to get a look in, the blackies keep an eye on him and vigorously chase him/her off.

Today, I'll do the ironing plus a small cleaning job or two, then we'll see....

I hope all you achey, pained people are on the mend.
Good to hear your Mum seems happy Susan, eating well is a good sign.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all, its -7°C here in Glasgow. This cold weather does nothing for my chest.

Roses, my DH is exactly like yours. He had to book a slot the rip, to get rid of bags of unlabelled and unrecognisable defrosted food, when the freezer failed. Apparently it was all my fault for cramming too much in it.
His logic never ceases to amaze me! 😁

Yesterday was yet another busy day. I had a very successful meeting with the P.P, a weight off my shoulders. However, he was quite unwell with a chest infection and was struggling. He had paperwork to do for the schools and it had to be sent away immediately, so he was fretting.
There is a lady, who does his filing etc, but cannot use a computer, which the PP was unaware of. There was a look of sheer panic on her face, when he asked her to make a spreadsheet and send the info to the schools. I was making faces at him, to alert him.
In the end, I sent him off to bed and said I would do it. It was amusing, when he tried to show me how to make a spreadsheet. I used to deliver Excel inservice to teachers for the L.A. I never said a word. 😉

Last night DS1 came to watch the football. Recent blood tests have resulted in an appointment at the hospital in January. I am worried that he has such a quick appointment. I have been waiting a year for a respiratory one.
He says nothing is wrong!!!

Today, I need to go for prescriptions and then catch up on some housework. I have done very little in the past few weeks. Too busy and too tired.

Susan, I hope you feel better today.💐
Kalu, always at your service!💕
My naughty pupil, Pants and dear Blossoming, so good to hear from you. 🥰
Safe journey to OldD.

Enjoy your day folks.

Marydoll Thu 28-Nov-24 08:29:46

Best wishes Autumncolours for your appointment today.💐

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -4° and very frosty. I slightly overdid things moving about yesterday and thus had a painful night. I must learn patience. Ash safe journey to your DH. Susan I'm sorry to hear that you are under the weather.
It's not like GrandMattie. I hope she's ok.
I had intended to go to town for some Christmas things. I always give DD and Dsil a stocking and it's filled with useful small bits and pieces, so today I was going to do that. However, I don't fancy scraping the car in the cold nor walking about when it's icy, so I think I'll pass. I did manage to order more gifts yesterday. Dgs1's teacher posted a photo on their twitter page of him and three other wee boys, standing on a mini stage, holding bits of wood as musical instruments. Apparently they gave a performance 😂. Dgs2 seems to have chicken pox. I miss seeing my boys. I know how you feel Bellasnana. They brighten up my days. I had bloods taken at the health centre and it was pain free. She was very good. She also weighed me and I've lost weight too, which was heartening.
Anyway, coffee number two awaits and later Christmas cards to write. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from a bright and very frosty Northampton. Very surprised to see the frost.

A good book club yesterday where we had all enjoyed this month's book - The Queen's Gambit, despite none of us knowing much about chess! We also loved the delicious raspberry tart and prosecco! (From Waitrose apparently).

Sainsbury's delivery this morning then out to do my top-up shop after lunch. An order to collect at M&S, and look for something extra for elder DGD for Christmas. Some washing to pop in the machine first.

Take care if you are out in the frost today; wrap up and stay warm.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 28-Nov-24 08:42:52

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s foggy at present. Alexa tells me it’s -2°C rising to 5°C later. Himself is meeting an ex colleague in Costa at 11am and I’m going down into the pharmacy below for a ‘flu jab. I haven’t decided yet whether or not to have the Covid one. There’s a new gift shop opened here - next to one of the banks (lucky us, we still have two!) and I shall go in to look for birthday presents for our daughters - one next month, one in January.

harrigran Thu 28-Nov-24 08:49:52

Good morning from a frosty NE.
Had to go out and take the padlock off the gate because the window cleaner was coming. What a faff, it was frozen solid, had to boil the kettle to open the padlock and the bolt was frozen too.
Not leaving the house today.
Have a good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 28-Nov-24 08:53:41

Am I the only one here, following Kalu’s post, who has just seen whether or not they can touch their toes? I’m about an inch short of doing so! 🤣 I’m blaming it on my long thigh bones …

Have just tried it I can, but its much easier if I'm sitting down🤣

Good morning from a frosty, sunny, County Durham.
Yesterday's expected parcel didn't arrive so another day of hanging around. The delivery company will not accept a safe place, it can only be handed over personally. The package is Lego for GS2, a very important delivery!
I have crackers to make, covered in Christmas fabric, so I'll get on with those today.
Living room windows cleaned yesterday. I'll continue the job elsewhere today. The delights of a window vac make the experience a lot easier than in times past. I could never achieve the success of my mam with "windolene". Her windows always sparkled.
Have the best day you can everyone.

MiniMoon Thu 28-Nov-24 09:14:38

Good morning all. Today's the day! I'm off to the hospital for day surgery (I hope). Gall bladder remove by keyhole surgery. Wish me luck.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 28-Nov-24 09:22:36

Good luck MiniMoon. I think (?) that’s the surgery hollysteers had.

👋 to all our newbies lately. It’s nice to have you join us.

Grandmabatty Thu 28-Nov-24 09:22:41

Minimoon and autumn colours best of luck with medical matters today

Good morning from very cold and frosty South Lanarkshire.

Kalu, I’ve just touched my toes to check that I still can. It’s not good for my vertigo though!

I enjoyed my afternoon in the charity shop. It’s good to be back and to have the opportunity to have interesting chats with customers, regulars and visitors.

Lunch out with DH’s siblings today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 28-Nov-24 09:30:26

I can touch my toes! I’m only 5 feet 2 inches, so not far to reach.

GrannySomerset Thu 28-Nov-24 09:31:35

Beautiful icy, sunny morning and am getting ready for the U3A book group who will be discussing The Mayor of Casterbridge. Still have a sore throat but nothing worse so assume survival is probable. Will catch up with all the posts later - what a busy lot we are.

tyer2323 Thu 28-Nov-24 09:33:09

Good morning! Sounds like a busy start to the day with the chilly weather in Torbay. Safe travels to DH as he heads back to France, and I’m sure it’ll be nice to have him back for Christmas next month. Hope everything goes smoothly, and wishing you a lovely day ahead!

Stilllearning Thu 28-Nov-24 09:57:18

I can touch my toes too but to be honest I have short legs so I don’t think it’s much of an achievement! It has made me smile though to think of ladies all over the country suddenly getting up and touching their toes!

Morning all, didn’t sleep well so late to the party, have a good day everyone, good wishes to all with appointments to deal with.
