As I closed the last kitchen I feel I should open a new one as I think that Soop is in a predicament with the weather.
So on her behalf I welcome you all to visit and enjoy our new space.

Please feel free to bring your sorrows and worries as well as your joys and happy times.
There is always someone to congratulate and to commiserate.

A newish year and a very new kitchen, a meeting place for all.

Good evening Kitcheners. Yiayia good and not so good news for you. I'm glad your DH is ok but sorry to hear about your teeth. Grannmarie it sounds like you had a lovely time. We have a 'family face' which goes down the generations too. Hellogirl what a nuisance for you! Jaxjacky I'm sorry to hear that you are bothered by your teeth too.
I had a productive day. Form signed at the lawyer, picture book bought for next week's World Book Day and a matching bed bought for dgs2. Then two hours in the school library this afternoon. Afterwards a nap, to make up for my disturbed night last night. Currently I'm watching Sean Connery in a film. It's not a great film but he looks good. Have a pleasant evening all

Grandmabatty Thu 27-Feb-25 19:31:39

The bed matches dgs1's bec- not the picture book! That was badly written

Grannmarie Thu 27-Feb-25 19:42:16

I agree, Grandmabatty, Sean Connery looked incredibly good as a young man, and he aged pretty well too!

brook2704 Thu 27-Feb-25 19:44:21

Hi kitchen pals, hoping everyone is doing ok
That’s good news for your DH Yia, but sorry to hear about your abscess, hope it clears up soon
Have a lovely weekend away celebrating your birthday Jax, it sounds brilliant. Our case is packed too and we’ve an early start tomorrow for our trip to Cambridge. A flight to Luton and then the train so should be there mid afternoon. I never know what to pack, DD1 always looks very stylish and gets it right but these days I’m finding it hard to find anything that I think suits me. Also I never really know what we’ll be doing, but with 2 energetic DGSs we’ll definitely be standing outside somewhere, trying to keep warm and probably watching football or cycling!
Hi to grannmarie another lovely inclusive post as you always do ❤️
Sounds like a good day grandmabatty with lots done, hope DGS2 enjoys his big boy bed!

Grannmarie Thu 27-Feb-25 19:54:40

Safe journey tomorrow brook and happy birthday to your DGS. ✈
Many happy returns Jaxjacky, have a great weekend away! 🎂 💐🍷

gillgran Thu 27-Feb-25 21:02:13

Enjoy your time in Cambridge with your family, brook.
Happy Birthday to your DGS.

Warm thoughts for all in soop's cosy kitchen. x

Jaxjacky Thu 27-Feb-25 21:14:03

Have a pleasant journey down *brook with no delays.
Just got an email from the restaurant on Saturday night, 10 of us, free glass of Prosecco for all adults as it’s my birthday, my daughter and future daughter in law will do well as I know three of our party don't like it!

SueDonim Thu 27-Feb-25 21:56:53

Thank you for your kind thoughts. The Kitchen is such a welcoming place to be. ❤️

I think I’ve missed the back story to your knee, GrannyG13. It doesn’t sound fun. flowers
I bet those fish and chips were very welcome by the time you ate them, Soop! What a trial. Best wishes to MrS, I hope he is still on the mend.
flowers hellogirl, I hope there is some light in the future for you. Xx
Ear problems are horrible, Jax. I hope yours settle down soon.
I’m so pleased for your dh, Yia but a tooth abscess is no fun. Get well soon. Xxx
That’s a delightful post, FGT! Enjoy!
I know what you mean re family faces, Granmarie. My younger son looks so like my grandpa did, three generations back.
You’re busy-busy, GMbatty!
Safe journey tomorrow, Brook and enjoy Cambridge.

It’s been a busy week for me. No one tells you how much paperwork, phone calls and admin comes with serious illness - it’s crazy. Dh seems to be a little better each day. He has been in huge amounts if steroids but is down to 30mg a day now. I’ve also found out that he should be able to get travel insurance somewhere so when I get the info, I’m going to look into going away for a week. My ds’s latest scans were all good, so that is a relief, too. This living from scan to scan is a challenge, though.

It’s been a good day today, glorious sunshine, the temp in my kitchen was 24.5 this afternoon 🥵 and I went to my book group where we talked a little about the book but had lots of laughs at other things. My GD has been offering me gardening advice. As we walked on the path to the front door she said ‘Nanna, you really need to do something about that planter there.’ 😂 I admit it was rather bedraggled but she spurred me into getting some bright pink polyanthus to plant in it and it looks very jolly now.

Sweet dreams, all. Xxx

yiayia abscesses are so painful aren’t they, i hope the antibiotics help soon! I’m having a root canal filling on Monday, lucky me!
nannytopsy I love Southwold but it can be absolutely arctic there in the winter (& summer too sometimes!)
grannmariepleased you had a good meeting with your sister in law’s cousins and good to have a photo of your DH’s dad. It’s interesting how family likenesses go down the generations.
I went into town this morning to collect a package and do a little shopping, I walked quite a long way (for me) but haven’t done much since I got back.
hellogirl how frustrating for you.
jax and brook, have a good weekend away, and jax enjoy your birthday!
Night night everyone, sleep tight.

soop Fri 28-Feb-25 15:17:50

Welcome back, Hellogirl. Yes, we visited Jessie's a very long time ago. I recall having a delicious cake (or two). What a buggeration with your hospital non-appointment. I sympathise with you and your daughter. We always say hello to David as we pass the camp site. smile

Jax Happy birthday greetings. Enjoy your treats.

brook have yourself a special visit to the beautiful city of Cambridge. Make happy memories together with your family.

Yia Ouch! The sooner you get that abscess dealt with, the better you will be.

Grannmarie* Family gatherings are the best tonic. I am pleased that you enjoyed being together.

SueD Life throws us a variety of challenges. All we can do is, meet them and do our utmost to remain positive. flowers

Mr Soop has developed an infection surrounding an area where some of the scalp cancers have been removed. He is now on antibiotics. He's to have a computer discussion between the surgery and a nurse at the Glasgow hospital where he underwent both skin grafts.

The sun shines. The birds twitter. The spring flowers bloom. We have much to be thankful for.

My best wishes to you lovely lot. smile

Yiayia4 Fri 28-Feb-25 15:37:58

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.DH has his blood tests next week then no more scans for six months.🤣
I’m feeling a bit better today I think the antibiotics are kicking in.

Good luck on Monday Redcar not nice but worth while.

A very happy birthday to our Jax have a wonderful weekend with your family.🎉🎈🎁🎂🥂

Lots of healing thoughts for Mr Soop.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 28-Feb-25 16:00:18

A very happy birthday Jaxjacky 🎂🍾🥳🥂

One of my gym buddies picked me up this morning and took me to the gym, I was able to participate in the class sitting on a weight bench.

The laughter and chatter has well and truly lifted my spirits, no doubt my arms will ache tomorrow but hey ho a small price to pay for spending time with dear friends.

DH has booked a table at the local Italian restaurant this evening, which I am looking forward to.

Wishing the poorly folks well and sending (((hugs))) 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Fri 28-Feb-25 17:25:03

Happy birthday to your DH Jaxjacky I hope he has a lovely day. Soop that is a shame for Mr Soop. I hope the antibiotics work quickly. Redcar good luck with the root canal treatment on Monday. Grannygravy well done! Don't overdo things though.
Today I have outdone myself. I stripped the bed and changed the duvet cover too, washed and dried everything, cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom, hoovered and polished and put more stuff on the charity shop pile. I also swept up stones and twigs from the pavement outside my house and then did a spot of weeding. Tesco delivered food and I cleaned out the fridge first. so busy and productive. I'm watching Ina Garten now for recipe ideas. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners.

Redcar Fri 28-Feb-25 17:26:52

soop so sorry to hear about mrsoopsinfection, I hope the antibiotics kick in quickly and clear it.
Thank you yiayia I’m not looking forward to the treatment but hopefully it will stop the intermittent ache!
GG13 well done for going to the gym and participating in the class, yes your arms will possibly ache tomorrow but at least you’ll feel you’re making progress! Enjoy your meal this evening.
A lovely sunny day here, but not especially mild yet. I knew I’d planted some crocuses last autumn, but didn’t realise quite how many I’d planted! So many in flower now, looking very cheerful. I pottered around today, did some ironing, some filing, tidied up a bit and vacuumed. A friend called in this afternoon, good to see her and catch up with her news.
Enjoy the rest of the day and have a pleasant evening.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 28-Feb-25 19:45:29

‘Evening All’.

Well we’ve had rain of biblical proportions from lunchtime onwards. It was bouncing back up from the ground, absolutely torrential with a capital T. No matter, we only had to dive into the cafe bar below us to meet dear friends who live here for lunch.

A quiet, restful evening ahead with our books. Himself has just made me a mug of tea.

Many happy returns of the day to you Jax!

gillgran Fri 28-Feb-25 20:03:34

Happy birthday Jaxjacky, wine cupcake, enjoy your weekend.

I hope MrSoop's antibiotics do their job.
You are so right, soop, to remind us that we do have much to be thankful for.
We've had bright, sun here today, our spring flowers are coming on a treat.

Warm thoughts for you all. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 28-Feb-25 20:42:40

Hello kitchen people.

So sorry to hear that Mr Soop’s scalp is causing problems.

It has been very hot in Sydney - 33 degrees yesterday.

My bro in law (who is an artist), me and my sister are off to an art exhibition later. Probably lunch somewhere too. There is a big family lunch happening tomorrow where most of those who were at my brother’s 70th last weekend will attend. Plus one or two others who weren’t able to.

I have been in almost daily contact with OH back home. He has a definite date for his op and has had his pre med. I think he just wants to get it over with.

Jaxjacky Fri 28-Feb-25 21:57:51

Just back in our room from the first family meal, much fun with a card game ‘how well do you know your family’
Tomorrow is the birthday meal, two of our dearest friends are joining us.
Sorry to hear of Mrsoops infection, one thing after another for you both.
The view across the Solent to the Isle of Wight was so clear today, it looked very close, but it isn’t really.

brook2704 Fri 28-Feb-25 23:03:55

Hi kitchen pals, just collapsed in bed now at DD1s in Cambridge after an easy, trouble free journey. Thank you all for your kind wishes. The flight was on time and the onward connections all went well so we were here by 2ish, in time to pick up the DGSs from school
DD1 & SiL have been out this evening so we’ve done pizzas and watched a film together before tucking them up in bed. Tomorrow morning it’s all go with swimming, cycling & football and then later in the afternoon the other grandparents are coming round and DD1 is cooking dinner for us all
Sorry to hear about Mr Soops ongoing scalp problems, hope the infection clears up quickly
Sounds like a lovely evening Jax and a very Happy Birthday 🎂💐🥂❤️
My goodness grandmabatty you’ve been busy, bet you’ll sleep well tonight!
Sending gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner x

cornergran Fri 28-Feb-25 23:28:53

Sounds a wonderful weekend ahead jax, a truly happy birthday

Oh dear, sorry to hear mr soop isn’t mending as well as he might.

I’ve stopped being envious of you being warm lsdylfl, 33 degrees would be much too hot for me these days. Totally understand your husband wanting his operation over and done with.

Pleased you’re feeling better yia, and your husband has improved sued, hope the progress continues and your son’s scan results continues to be stable.

That was a wasted trip with a long wait hellogirl. I’m so sorry. We waited about the same time today for an appointment which unlike yours had a very positive outcome. The consultant is as certain as he can be I do not have systemic lupus, truly good news. Bloods remain a puzzle but as he says sometimes that’s just the way things are. He advised some more today, just to check nothing has changed, I suspect it will be a normal for me outcome. The usual FBC the surgery runs has a raft of outcomes that are as the GP says normal for me, I think I can add another to the list.

I’m counting my blessings tonight, there are so many people here and amongst my real world friends with bigger health worries. Just need to get a diagnosis for my odd eye condition and I’ll feel back in control.

More positives in that a potentially difficult issue within the development will be managed, it’s a huge relief. There’s an outing for us me with our grandson tomorrow, a rare occasion and one we’re both looking forward to hugely. If I’m to escape exhaustion tomorrow I must get some sleep. Goodnight everyone, TOYA.

Nannytopsy Sat 01-Mar-25 03:52:38

Morning all! A pinch and a punch …
You can tell the DGC are here 😆
I must get back to sleep - another busy day tomorrow.
Best wishes to everyone xx

Hellogirl1 Sat 01-Mar-25 13:51:16

Belated Birthday greetings Jaxjacky, hope you`re having a good weekend.
Cornergran, I`m glad your appointment had a good outcome. My consolation was that the consultant was a very nice man, some of them are too uppity for words!
Soop, so sorry to hear that your mister`s scalp isn`t behaving as it oughter, I hope the antibiotics do their job. Thank you for saying hello to David. Now that I can`t get up there you`re his only contact with the world. I have Lynne here waiting to join him when I pop my clogs, then we`ll all be up there in beautiful Kintyre.

soop Sat 01-Mar-25 14:33:24

I am sending a virtual comforting hug to all our lovely Kitcheners. You are the best. So there! smile

Jaxjacky Sat 01-Mar-25 15:13:38

Not too late Hellogirl it’s today! We’ve just spent nearly 3 hours at the beach wrapped up, eaten chips and watched brave (daft) souls swimming, it’s a beautiful day.

A very Happy Anniversary to the corners 🥰🥂
