It's that time of year again - and the launch of our Best reads for Christmas. Over £500 of fantastic books, fiction and non-fiction, great gift ideas for family and friends (and yourself - goes without saying)

Aaaaand - one very lucky person can win all the books featured on the page. To enter simply tell us what's on your Christmas wish list (it can be absolutely anything)

We will be picking a winner at random on 14 December - more details on the page

On my Christmas wishlist is a new coat as mine is rather shabby.

My Christmas treat will be to spend the day at my studio, painting anything I want, for fun instead of for work. Then home to hot chocolate with marshmallows and old movies with my daughter.

I mostly want a calm, relaxed Christmas with my family and for us all to be together this Christmas. We weren't able to last year, so I am especially looking forward to this year.

The words to convince my daughter that it will be alright in the end and to have confidence that she's doing the right thing.

There is very little I wish for for myself. Life has its downers but on the whole we are blessed.

So.....I wish that Donald Trump might decide to backtrack on just about every "policy" promise that won him the election!

lots of books, bottle of wine and box of turkish delight. snuggle on sofa with husband and we read our new (nearly new) books while listening to music. we then swap. talk about the book, author, other books by same author we fancy reading. then pass to close family who pass to extended family. if they return book then pass to friends or local charity shop. sharing the books is part of the pleasure.

I don't anything on my wish list as i'm pretty much skint this year so only bought a couple of cheap bits for my 2 kids aged 13 & 21 so feeling pretty rubbish as they've always relied on me with never having a family.Hoping next year will be better

My wish is for a happy 2017. This year has seen several deaths, my son and his daughters have had H1N1 swine flu, my other son has had an operation on his spine, my one week old great niece is a very poorly baby. So lots of books to read and share with my family would be a lovely present

A New Long warm dressing gown. Mine is getting very old and worn and it would be good to have a new one as I spend many hours wearing it by dressing late and getting ready for bed early.

I am hoping for a happy family Christmas at my daughters home with my three grandchildren.

Chris1961 Thu 01-Dec-16 16:05:25

A busy Christmas with 7 grandchildren to tire me out.
I just wish for 5 minutes peace, so I can sneak off and have a read.

All I want for Christmas is for mum and dad to be able to join us. Dad is very poorly and I am hoping that he will pick up so we can all have a quiet family Christmas together.

I've just returned from the Champa Pandaw which was cruising up the Mekong and trying to get over the rapids into China. Everyone as passengers were very gung ho about the boat not getting over the rapids but I felt for the Captain-a tiny Lao man as he put his smartest uniform on and bowed to the crew and passengers and said that he had tried twice to go through but he feared if he clipped the rock in the middle and the fierce current combined would flip the boat over. I would love him to achieve passage through on his next attempt. Not a Christmassy wish at all but having spent his life on the river and he looked so downcast.

My OH and I stopped spending lots of money on useless things we didn't really want.So this year I've asked for a refractometer - measures the water content in honey and he's asked for a new electric saw.

I hope Father Christmas has noticed my hints about my shortage in the black handbag department, but if not I'll still have him, the best present ever!

DiJones Fri 02-Dec-16 09:51:07

I would loike Cardiff City to be out of the relegation zone on Christmas Day and on track for a top ten finish.

durhamjen Fri 02-Dec-16 09:54:54

I would like the same for Hull, DiJones. Whose wish will be granted?

muskrat Fri 02-Dec-16 10:16:55

This year has been difficult as we have had to rescue family members in trouble, and we have decided not to give ourselves (me and my husband) any presents and only buy for the grandkids. Other things are more important, as we have discovered... like harmony, good health and peace. So all we want is a little of the feel-good factor.

Liindiloo26 Fri 02-Dec-16 10:44:06

After a few months of continuous visits to hospital, my wish is for good health for my family, happy holidays, and joyful times together.

Desdemona Fri 02-Dec-16 11:07:43

What I wish for this Christmas is for my 2 beautiful daughters to be fulfilled and happy. I would also love to see "the season of goodwill" last all year, every year.

A bit of caring, understanding and generosity of spirit should be for life, not just for Christmas.
