This gentleman is almost 100 and is walking 100 lengths of his garden to raise money for the NHS. He was hoping to raise £1000 but has now raised over 6 million pounds

I was emotional watching this and have donated via just giving. What an inspiration

It is the last time he said BRAVE, that did it for me and my eyes filled up. What a beautiful human being

Beats anger every time, this positive man has no space for anger in his life. He is much loved, by all of us

Stupendous how Captain Tom has touched everyone's heart. That is a truly phenomenal amount of money. Even I can see the positive side of social media this time.

He is wonderful. As poster said upthread it beats anger, and send a very positive message.

I’ve sent him a birthday card for his 100th birthday on the 30th. The post office is taking his cards. Bless him. It’s just wonderful and so moving seeing him doing his lengths with his frame.

Inspirational man, an example to us all.

It’s now over 8 million well done Captain Tom ???

M0nica Wed 15-Apr-20 19:40:43

A man who has given to society all his life. If he hadn't come up with this iniative he would have been seen as just another surplus old man who was just an unnecessary expense for society and would not qualify for hospital bed or a ventilator, if he became ill with Corvid.

Surely all the extremely old should be valued without having to prove their worth.

Captain Tom is exceptional, one of a kind, a giver and not a taker and cerainly not a moaner. I would value him above all others.

What a lovely ,optimistic and stoic man.And I would imagine like my mum who is almost his age Captain Tom would be horrified at the idea of being ventilated. It's a very invasive and traumatic procedure and it's not seeing someone his age as expendable but taking a pragmatic approach to provide kindness, comfort and palliative care at the end of such a long life.I hope he gets it when his time comes, but as his lovely daughter lives with him he looks to be in good hands .Bless him.
