Hi there everyone
I've not posted before but felt so fed up today I'm hoping to use the hive mind to improve my mood.
I'm approaching 60, single parent for the last 15 years after a long unhappy marriage. Currently I'm working 5 short days a week in a stressful health care role, whilst caring for my elderly parents, mum is terminally ill with breast cancer, and my 2 adult DC at home because they are ASD.
I have been really careful with Covid precautions and have successfully worked through all the lock-downs to keep our very vulnerable patients in the unit free from this virus.
I was tested at work as usual on Friday and tested negative. Started to feel increasingly unwell over the weekend so got a drive through test on Sunday and was notified by text that I was positive on Monday morning.
I feel pretty grim, bad cough, aches and fatigue, hoping that the vaccination I had 10 days ago will mean that avoid a hospital admission.
My problem is that I am really annoyed about catching this, I have a background studying microbiology and have taken all precautions possible whilst continuing to work and care for my family.
I'm fuming with people who don't wear masks, my neighbours are still having parties every Friday and in the supermarket locally I have seen staff members not wearing masks (I'm aware they may have a health exemptions) but what about the gangs of teenagers hanging around on the streets? The people who wear masks incorrectly?,
I have potentially risked the health of all my colleagues and patients (hopefully the PPE will help prevent any transmission)
Cheer me up Gransnetters please any funny stories greatly appreciated or cat photos are equally acceptable 2 of my terrors are attached.

Get well soon.
A joke to cheer you up.
A Kleeneze salesman had a really bad week. His final call
Was a remote run down farmhouse. The farmer’s wife
Wasn’t interested. So he said “I tell you what I’ll leave you
With a toilet brush to try and I’ll come back next week.”
He duly arrived and asked how she’d found it. Well she
Said we’ve all tried it and we still prefer paper!.

I worked in a school. Took enormous care, worried about about my compromised OH at home, but still caught it. I was angry about it too. Took me almost three weeks to feel better, but he didn’t catch it. Much love to you.

Look away from the anger - it saps your energy.

But if you were very careful protecting yourself
You surely didn’t interact with neighbours having parties, kept clear of supermarket workers not wearing masks etc?

Sorry for how you’re feeling

Greenjo51 Tue 19-Jan-21 10:59:43

Sorry to hear you’ve caught it. I hope you feel better soon. Here’s a photo of Coty who came to stay for a while in 2019.

flowers best wishes to you Notagranyet. Gorgeous pets, everyone.

Tonucha Tue 19-Jan-21 11:03:56

I hope you feel better soon.
Make sure you eat even if you are not hungry. I lost 4KG in a week... not the way I would prefer to lose weight.
DRINK LOTS of warm water based drinks, lemon honey and grated ginger.
Stay hydrated.

I am sorry we dont have any pets, so no photos to cheer you up, but I send my best wishes for a speedy recovery, and virtual flowers and hugs. Get well soon!

Well, that didn't work! I selected the image. It might have worked this time. Three Burmese cats expressing their views of the cold weather.

Notagranyet1234. If you want a giggle - here goes

A little turtle tried to climb the tree, he tried again and again but kept falling off, There were 2 rooks on a branch above and one said to the other, "Do you think we should tell him he was adopted?"

Love your contribution Oops

Mollygo Tue 19-Jan-21 11:26:08

Hi Notagranyet1234, sorry to hear you’ve got Covid and you’re feeling bad with it. Let’s hope the vaccine will keep you out of hospital and you feel better soon.
I don’t have any cats to share and my hens are avoiding the rain so not really up for photos. Stay safe!

Scottydog6857 Tue 19-Jan-21 11:30:05

I am so sorry to hear of your positive test! I am 63 and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in general practice nursing - retired now, fortunately! I had to retire early due to health problems and it hit me very hard mentally. I live with my husband in an unhappy relationship, and my 26 year old son with ASD and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome is still living at home. Lockdown is torture for me and I feel very trapped! I do my best to keep myself and others safe, but I do worry about getting Covid-19, as I have a mask exemption due to very severe facial eczema and also asthma! My 2 cats and my dog are the only things keeping me sane! Sending hugs to you - socially distant ones, of course! xx

If it is any consulation my neighbours had Covid a week or so back- 11 year old daughter brought it home from school- & they are fine now. They just had to stay indoors for 2 weeks. Boring but necessary. They are all 100% fine now. We did not even know as they just battened down the hatches & got food delivered. We would have done their shopping gladly if they had told us.
Keep warm & keep cheerful- great box sets on TV to watch.

Craftycat Tue 19-Jan-21 11:31:06

Sorry- all 4 cats ran a mile when they saw camera!!

susieq3 Tue 19-Jan-21 11:35:50

I don’t have any pets, but thought this was quite amusing
