Why are some men so anti doing as they are bid

Interesting one this. I think there are many sides to refusniks of any kind: it could be bloody-mindedness, a genuine fear, mass hysteria, suggestibility, a real belief “they” don’t have your best interests in mind, the belief that we are free individuals etc etc. I spent 40 years trying to get him indoors to co-operate and I got fed up of “asking nicely” so now I just say it as it is. He sees things differently from me, does not have imagination or the ability to put himself in another’s shoes, cannot be spontaneous so fears having to make a quick decision. Plus his father was obstructive to his mother (didn’t want to feel he was back under the female rules) - passive aggressive power play (control). Also an old dinosaur belief that men know better than women (plenty of them around today); link that to a jealousy that a woman may know better added to a feeling of loss of “authority” and self-esteem. Take your pick!

I do think men tend to be more stubborn than women, in the main (though personally, I hate being "told what do" as well).

My husband and and myself, both having medical issues, were perfectly happy to have both doses of the Covid Vaccine, and the Booster (and Flu jab). These latter two at the same time (one in each arm). I had some adverse reaction, but it only lasted about 24 hours.

I have seen (as I'm sure many people have) the horror stories of very bad reactions for some people after a Covid Vaccine, and I think this is adding to the fear and reluctance of some folk to take, or continue taking the vaccines!

Personally, I think dying from Covid, or suffering Long Covid is something I would rather avoid!
I've taken Flu Vaccines each year ever since I became eligible for them, so had no hesitation in getting the Covid Vaccine when it was available.

As a nurse working in a vaccination centre and vaccinating 100s of people day in day out we are encouraged by how many men and women, young and old are turning up and are very happy to be vaccinated. Those that aren’t thankfully seem to be in the minority. I have had a few reluctant people but generally once things have been explained to them they are happy to go ahead. I did have someone yesterday who was convinced having the vaccine would change her DNA but after explaining calmly and clearly that this was misinformation and why this absolutely could not happen ( thank you social media ?) she happily went ahead, conspiracy theorists have a lot to answer for

I've never understood this men vs women thing. I grew up with five brothers and we each had out own personalities. I was every bit as stubborn as the others at times. And still am. Always hated being told what to do, and especially being nagged. Two of my brothers are a lot more amenable and easy going than me.

But we have all been vaccinated and 'boostered' - possibly because we have had frail and vulnerable parents to look after all through the pandemic. Maybe that's what is missing for a lot of people - accepting that they could kill someone they care about.

Don’t know who these men are, I don’t know of any that won’t have third.

It isn’t a men verses women thing arewenearlythereyet or wasn’t meant to be is was just an observation built on a) a radio phone in and b)tv footage of screaming men at the head of the anti vax demo ( not in the least saying there weren’t as many women, I didn’t count) , but just saw the loudest harshest, most vitriolic were at the front of the demo and were men

Men always say women and, in this case, the government, nag. I hate that word "nag".
Like maddyone above, why is it nagging if you've been tripping over the tools for 2 weeks?
They seem to have an innate warped perception of nagging v doing something to aid their health.
In the case of the tools - very unhealthy to leave them out as a woman who stubs her toe is a dangerous animal!!

Women - do it now.
Men - do it later.

This attitude accounts for a lot but also arrogance, obstinacy and selfishness contribute to the way men dig in their heels more than do women.

I love listening to Nick Abbot on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.

He would certainly know how to deal with anti vaxers.

Apparently, a large proportion of unvaccinated pregnant women are in hospital.
I can understand their fears, but have no sympathy for anyone refusing to get a jab.
My sons partner is not having it because she has an underlying health condition and has decided to treat it with vitamins and homeopathic remedies instead.
I wouldn’t dream of lecturing her, but on the other hand I am a bit concerned as they are coming to visit over the Christmas period.

Men with ego problem feel threatened.

Yesterday I followed a car into my local supermarket. The driver parked in front of the doors in a bay for people with disabilities. With amazing agility the male driver exited the car, engine still running and infant child strapped in a front seat, and sans mask entered the store.
I’m ashamed to say that I was afraid to challenge him and that quick as a flash he was gone. Nonetheless I felt this typical of the bullish behaviour of a significant minority of some men, as BlueBell has experienced.

My husband maintains men are like little dogs and need training! The first answer to a request is NO.

I have a friend whose husband said this. He had 2 boys from a first marriage. She had 3 girls. Together they had a boy. Her girls were very well behaved and she was aghast at her little boy's behaviour. Her experienced-with-boys husband told her she had to treat her son as if he was a lively puppy. Rap him on the nose (metaphorically) every time he did something unkind or hurtful. She was shocked but saw the need. Little boy is growing up to be as nice as his sisters (and older brothers) so I guess her husband had a point.

Personally I Hadn’t noticed it more with men?
All the men in our family are responsible and had the jab and boosters,..
The unvaccinated shouldn’t be allowed in any public places
