Witzend

A BiL has it, feeling very rough indeed. He’s convinced he caught it on the plane back from Spain.
I do hope you’ll feel a lot better soon, pigsmayfly 💐.

My friend has come back from Spain 2 weeks ago the same . Still really poorly

Hubby and I came back from Tenerife on 18.9.23 and on 20.9.23 we tested positive! Hubby wasn't too ill and was negative within 5 days but has struggled since with sweats and a hacking cough. I was extremely ill with joint pain, nausea, sweats, sore throat, headache lasted 4 days, hacking dry cough and loss if taste. I git a negative test after 8 days but still have a dry cough, sine sweating and no taste. Both of us have had maximum vaccinations (Hubby x5 & myself x4). I'm diabetic and Hubby asthmatic. It's our 1st case of covid having totally avoided it during the pandemic. It sucks! Nothing much helps unfortunately, just plenty of fluid, rest, and regular paracetamol. Sending hugs that you will recover soon x

I don’t have Covid but do have a stinking cold courtesy of DGS.

Spoke to my sister on Sunday and she mentioned H had it and had come round for lunch.
Apparently it’s not a ‘thing’ now and everyone is ignoring it🤦🏼‍♀️

... and I thought I was being a wimp! (My 3rd Covid infection!)
Sorry to hear that others have had a bad time with it but makes me feel better to know it wasn't just me who felt so ill and so exhausted for so long. Can't help wondering how bad it would have been if I wasn't jabbed up to the eyeballs (hubby immune supressed so because of him I had extra jabs too!).

flowers pigsmayfly. Do rest, don't try to exercise your way out of it.

I tested positive on Sunday and DH tested positive today. It's interesting how differently it's effected us both. I am getting through a box of tissues a day with slight cough, husband hardly sneezing but constant cough.

lemsip Tue 03-Oct-23 12:44:30

you can buy covid tests over the counter at Boots!

Tested positive today. I live on my own and need advice/support on how others here coped with any of the main symptoms I have.

The cough didn't last long. Have a sandpaper tongue, am drinking as much water as possible. No appetite, if I try to eat anything, eg: dry toast, within 20mins it's expelled, last food kept down was 4 days ago. Exhaustion, sore throat, headache (taking Paracetamol) high temperature on/off. I desperately want to stay out of hospital, so any tips as how to tackle any of these symptoms myself would be much appreciated.

I googled and there's lots of support groups for people with long covid but I can't find anything for 'short' covid.

Tested positive this evening. Felt unwell for a few days. Streaming with cold but the cough is worse than anything I've ever had, keeping me awake at night. Had my booster in Sept for all the good it has done!

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 11-Dec-23 09:03:27

MarinaL think how unwell you would be without having had the jabs and boosters.

So sorry that everyone seems to be suffering with the latest round of Covid, thank goodness for the jabs and boosters.

Well both of us came back from our cruise with Covid. Huh. They did absolutely nothing to warn us or prevent the spread. No warnings, no compulsory hand washing and no masks even though every other person was coughing and spluttering. Unlike all the other recent cruises where we have been told to sanitize before every meal . Didn’t happen once on this one, they just ignored it.

Are you ok now boheminan?

chimes22 Mon 11-Dec-23 09:23:13

I sympathise with your rash I had the same and took the decision to have no more covid vaccinations.

Skydancer Mon 11-Dec-23 09:25:38

DH recovering from it. He has been dizzy, depressed (not like him) and totally lethargic for about 6 weeks.

I am just getting over Covid & Phuemoninia after being in Ho long covid spital for over a week I was so poorly only I could get the two together Dr now saying expect to experience long Covid I feel so washed out, breathing so bad and so tired all day long I could sleep for a week. Its a good job I have a nice family for my shopping and housework.

boheminan Mon 11-Dec-23 11:17:01

fancythat Thanks for asking how I'm doing, it's now 10 days since I started symptoms. Had an overnight stay in hospital to rectify dehydration. Now so tired and headachy.

I find support in talking to others that are going through this 'new' version...not anywhere near as bad as the previous nasty, but still nasty. So I hope this thread will continue as a support for others who may be starting it all over again.

Went to Ballet on Sunday, using train and bus- started with a cold on Tuesday. Got worse and worse. Yesterday looked after 3 yong children for a friend who was moving to their new house. This morning at GP for routine blood tests (wearing mask)- she said there is a lot of Covid around and offered to do a test - bingo! Positive.

Feel really ill, and will have to cancel big brother's visit over Christmas, 86 and widowed, knowing he will be on his own.

I’ve got a bottle of colloidal silver but have never known how to take it.

About 10 days ago I started feeling very unwell. On the 4th day of being unwell DD1 suggested Covid - which I dismissed as unlikely - so I used my one remaining Covid test and it was positive. This was my very first Covid infection. I certainly felt knocked out but am OK now apart from a cough that is not as bad as it was and unpleasant catarrh that is affecting my hearing. I hope you soon feel better pigsmayfly flowers

started cold and and bad headache on 9th dec done a test which was positive. only just fading 10 days later. test shows faint line now so hopefully recovering.. really nasty time.

Five weeks post testing positive I’m still coughing and have bouts of complete exhaustion. Also very emotional, the smallest thing reduces me to tears. While testing positive (just a week) my symptoms were fairly mild, like a head cold. Mr C was unwell first and was much worse with fever and a fairly dramatic collapse followed by the most horrible cold symptoms either of us could imagine. Left with sores over his lower face he tested positive for three weeks while being symptom free, other than the sores, after two weeks. Assuming we had the same variant symptoms certainly can’t be predicted. Our first encounter with covid and we hope our last.

Be well. flowers

None of us have had any strain and I feel quite blessed.

We both have it here! Managed all this time to avoid it and 'ping' out of the blue there it was. It is a dreadful dose. I never knew so many parts of the body could pain all at the same time and the coughing is horrendous. I tested for Covid, just on the off chance and there is was. I tested again today, hoping, but it was positive again so I fear it will be with us over Christmas and then, I understand, the effects will linger for 10 days to 2 weeks before we get anything like back to how we were. I'll test again on Christmas day - my treat!! Keep well folks flowers
