WHAT’S ALLOWED?

My daughter and her partner are new parents and have a 3 week old baby. With the current restrictions in place are they allowed to drop the baby off to us for childcare and is it ok if both grandparents are in the house or do we have to go to them and again, can we go at the same time of just one of us? We are all live in the same area and are in the same tier.
I can’t seem to find any answers on the internet and the guidelines don’t seem to stipulate from what I have read.

As I understand it, grandparents can provide childcare for their grandchildren either in your home or theirs. If it involved travelling between different tiers it may be different, but that doesn't appear to be the case with you. Enjoy your new grandchild.

It’s meant to be childcare so they can work plus what Sarnia said. There’s something else the back of my mind about babies as well - I’ll see if I can find it

Yes I’ve found it - a new rule is coming in. If a couple have a child under 1 ( but it has to be their only child) they can ( not sure from when - next week?) form a support bubble with another household - in this case you and your dh. In this case you would count as one household and see each other when you want without their being a need for child care

You can’t possibly be serious.
A 3 week old baby? Mother going to leave the baby with you for ‘childcare’ !

suziewoozie Fri 27-Nov-20 15:36:16

Me again - it starts next week with the new tier system. Each part of this bubble cannot bubble with another household under this rule.

lemon Nothing to do with you - the OP wants advice not judgement. You’ve no idea what the backstory so maybe back off?

Hello Loodl and welcome to GN.

Hello Loodl and welcome to GN.

Oh I see, we’re posting in code now so we don’t get deleted.🙄

That’s a good question and better than just the rush to judgement

Callistemon Fri 27-Nov-20 17:07:59

I expect you'd know more about deletions than me, suziewoozie.

Callistemon Fri 27-Nov-20 17:11:16

Loodl which country of the UK are you in, as rules could vary.

We listen to or watch the news, then realise the new rules apply only to England.

Ouch

Lucca Fri 27-Nov-20 17:17:50

OP may just have meant drop baby off for an hour or so to allow parents to go shopping or something.......
Not necessarily all day every day !!

LauraNorder Fri 27-Nov-20 17:19:39

Welcome Loodl, congratulations on having a little grandchild.
As the baby is very young I wonder if you mean casual childcare to give a tired new mum a break for an hour.
If so then, as others have said, hopefully you can form a bubble.
Enjoy your grandchild.

LauraNorder Fri 27-Nov-20 17:20:35

Crossed posts Lucca.

I guess I know more about most things than you <boom boom>

Lucca my riposte was rather fine I thought in addition to which I did supply the information the OP needed rather than jump on her and jump to conclusions.

lemongrove Fri 27-Nov-20 17:26:07

You certainly think you do suziewoozie and when I want your advice on postings I will ask for it.

Don’t worry dear, I’ll give you advice when I see fit without your permission. Your post to the OP was mean and judgemental based on no knowledge of the back story.

It was a bit snappy Lemongrove 😏😂

And some of us know what you actually meant

When a poster calls another poster ‘dear’ .... they have just lost the high moral ground that they were previously enjoying.
