Bought this book over a week ago and it's a veritable treasure trove of great, tasty recipes. I'm just eating a sensible breakfast and lunch then using o e of their recipes for dinner, and can already notice a difference of a couple of pounds in only a week.

Would definitely recommend.

I have bought the book too, it has some tasty-looking recipes. On my alternate day fasting diet (see Horizon thread) I can consume 500 cals for lunch on 'fast' days, so it is helpful to have the calories already calculated. I ate a variation of their breakfast on Sunday, which allowed for a dessert too.

I have actually served some of the recipes to my BH and he's never even noticed, indeed he commented on how tasty the lasagne was. Shysal, I think the secret is all the herbs and spices they use. Yum! wink

Both DH and I need to lose weight. I'm having blood tests for various things next week because I have suddenly started to pile on the weight even though I eat healthily and just enjoy the occasional glass of wine. Some of my symptons point towards hypothyroidism so we shall see. hmm In the meantime I thought I'd catch up with the Hairy Bikers on iplayer because DH loses heart very quickly with diets. He loves their programmes so this might keep him interested. Looks like I'll be ordering the book as well.

I've just seen the first episode on iplayer and was really impressed by their honesty. I'm now off to Amazon to buy the book grin

Oh Dear. It's the Great British Bake Off tonight. I do love that programme but I did far too much baking when the last series was on.

Good luck merlotgran..the salmon with chilli ginger sauce is yummy but you might want to trade in the merlot for a lighter wine to go with it.

PS only a suggestion!

The book people website has the hairy dieters book on offer for £4.99 at the moment.

merlotgran Fri 17-Aug-12 22:20:09

Bummer, tattynan. I'm waiting for mine from Amazon for £10.49. sad
I liked the series though. DH actually peeped out from behind his fishing magazine and we've tried a couple of the recipes smile

I have watched a couple of the programmes but I cant get past their hair and beards all over the place in the kitchen - a little grooming gents please to go with your newly svelte bodies and this is coming from a woman married to a beardy but a beautifully trimmed one.

I have never enjoyed their programmes, but this is different and Iam hooked and want to buy the book. I love the support they get from their families.

Nanadogsbody Mon 20-Aug-12 23:28:47

Recommend the Spanish Chicken. Yummy.

merlotgran Wed 22-Aug-12 19:04:48

My book arrived yesterday. We've tried the Cajun spiced chicken which was delicious. I see Amazon has temporarily sold out so it must be popular.

NfkDumpling Wed 22-Aug-12 19:08:34

Amazon have still sold out!

Glad you rnjoyed that Merlotgran I'm another 2lbs down. This is the best 'diet' book ever I think, as it's simply full of tasty filling recipes. The chicken and ham pie was another success. The only one that wasn't as tasty was the beefburger but next time I'm going to add a soupçon of fresh chopped chilli just for a bit if a kick.

Nanadogsbody Thu 23-Aug-12 07:57:30

PS hope your blood test results were ok merlot ? I've just taken a fasting blood test yesterday. Getting older is s bummer isn't it? sad

jeni Thu 23-Aug-12 08:41:03

I haven't posted on this recently as I was feeling rather down and my weight ballooned to 13 4 1/4shockblush.
So I took myself strictly in hand (don't tell gramps or Pete!) and am now a k to 13 3 1/4 this am, having lost a lb since Monday.
I've got to get into an evening dress!

Nanadogsbody Thu 23-Aug-12 09:54:53

Good for you Jeni smile

Nanadogsbody, I have a high cholesterol level - 7.8, which came as a surprise as there is no history of high cholesterol in my family. I eat healthily although I know I needed to cut down on carbs, Everything else is fine thank goodness so the doc is not unduly worried but I will have to be tested on a regular basis. I've managed to lose nearly half a stone in about ten days so I will now do what I can to lower my cholesterol as well. hmm

Nanadogsbody Thu 23-Aug-12 21:17:31

That's dangerously high merlotgran. Well done on the weight loss ... quite amazing. smile
