I usually go to the gym at least twice a week but as we have been away and are going away next month again I've not been.
My gym subscription is due and didn't want to pay for the months not used.
In addition I am in a walking group, could walk 7 times a week if I wanted but the weather as been so bad, rain and snow that I have only been walking a few times since December.

I've been busy though going through the house cleaning out the drawers and cupboards and throwing things out so not sat on my backside.

I went walking yesterday with the group and felt so unfit when walking up a steep hill and seriously need to get myself motivated again.
Thing is once I get out of my routine it takes me ages to get motivated again.
I'm sat at the moment in bed using the computer.!! I feel so guilty.

Jeannie99. Have you had your thyroid level tested?
Could be anemia or just doing too much. I am 71 and some days do not do very much, although always swim 3 times a week. I also find I need to sit down between jobs. Also, this is a very low time of year. Go and have some tests; it could be the making of a new woman!

Housework is perfectly good exercise. IMO.

Ditch the guilt - you know what is right for you at any one time, and we all get a bit hibernatory at this time of year. I am deeply impressed with your house activities!

Hear hear! I'm sure exercise is not a winter thing and if you're keeping your muscles going around the house and with the occasional walk, you'll be ready to leap into life when the spring finally comes!

I blame the time of year. I always feel like hibernating in January. But the days are getting longer now and the sun today is streaming into the house. My get up and go has come back and I'm off for a good walk shortly. Just hope we get a decent summer this year.

Many gyms will let you suspend your membership for a couple of months if you ask.

Listen to your body. I think your body knows what you neeed during the winter months. Mine needs chocolate and sleep.

jeanie99 Tue 17-Feb-15 10:22:08

I had every intention of walking with the group yesterday but the rain came down in buckets, I'm definitely a fair weather walker.

Chocolate, how can anyone not like chocolate.

jeanie; I'm exactly the same at the moment. I go to a brilliant gym; for £19 a month I get everything..pool, gym sauna etc. I love going there. But, for some reason I either go a lot or just put off going. It only takes me 15-20 minutes to get there as well. Same with walking the dog. I did two really enjoyable walks last week and felt great for it but this week just keep procrastinating till it's too late to bother [dog is as lazy as me; give her a duvet and she'll sleep all day!]. The computer doesn't help [someone on here once described it as 'the time thief']. There's blue sky outside at the moment and I'm still sat here with a cup of coffee...blush

I'm still suffering from total laziness/apathy. Can someone give me a proverbial kick up the wotsit [please].

rubylady Mon 23-Feb-15 22:09:38

C'mon Tegan Up and at 'em girl! Get your shoes on, get your coat on, put the doggie lead on and get out into the sunshine. Up two three four. One step at a time and breathe in that wonderful fresh air.

Now, after twenty minutes, come home and drink your coffee and let the doggie snuggle down in her quilt. grin

Now I only have to take my own advice! blush

I've cleaned the kitchen ruby!

jeanie99 Mon 23-Feb-15 23:38:24

Still not doing much apart from eating everything I shouldn't eat.

Tegan Tue 24-Feb-15 00:01:30

I seem to be going through a bread and butter phase [usually try to avoid bread].

Thank god I'm not the only one! I've been so lethargic since my chest infection in January but I can't keep using that as an excuse when it's nearly March! I'm perfectly happy with my iPad, a steady supply of tea and Dr Chris the Bondi vet! Was beginning to think I was unwell......think I'm terminally lazy.

annodomini Tue 24-Feb-15 09:25:13

Viruses which ended in a chest infection, plus the weather. Well those are my excuses reasons for idleness. Seriously, I do think the season has a lot to do with how so many of us are feeling. "Can't be bothered"; "I'll do it tomorrow"; I just have to finish this chapter..."

Marmight Tue 24-Feb-15 09:50:40

Katek. Dr. Chris the Bondi vet is the Ant (or Dec) of I'm a Celeb, Get me Out of Here Oz style. It's excruciating. We watch every night. The surprise celeb is Freddie Flintoff.

Sorry to digress .......

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 24-Feb-15 09:52:33

rubylady may I take your excellent post as being addressed to me too. smile

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 24-Feb-15 09:54:14

Trouble is, if I go out while the sun is shining I just know I won't want to do the jobs afterwards cos I will be knackered. And if I do the jobs first the sodding sun will go in. hmm

H E L P !!!

Riverwalk Tue 24-Feb-15 09:58:35

jings how was Gothenburg, particularly the cinnamon buns?

janeainsworth Tue 24-Feb-15 09:59:04

B*gg*r the jobs sunshine

Ariadne Tue 24-Feb-15 10:25:31

It has been exactly the right time of year to be honestly convalescing! I have done my circuits of the ground floor religiously, because I have to, and done the Physio exercises, and slept a lot. But soon (six weeks post op now) I shall have to get out there again.....

No excuse about house work as exercise either, as my cleaner has been in every week. Oh dear, reality looms....(forgotten what it's like!)

Katek Tue 24-Feb-15 10:38:28

Haven't seen that Marmight-does Dr Chris not make it bearable?!

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 24-Feb-15 10:43:36

Riverwalk the cinnamon buns were totally outdone by the 'cream' buns they have everywhere. A plain bun with top sliced off and then sandwiched back on with a whole load of - don't shriek in horror - vegetable fat cream. And, as a surprise, a lump of marzipan in the middle. And then all thickly sprinkled with icing sugar. Fantastic!!!
