Tell us how you are getting on

Menopaws Tue 16-Jan-18 18:12:57

I'm back on it as def put on over Xmas, couldn't start until after last weekend in Ireland so have been on it for a week now, feel much better and in control, lost three pounds so far but want to stick to it before hols in march. Well done everyone!

NannyJan53 Thu 18-Jan-18 07:59:49

Not sure what I am doing wrong, but 2 weeks of doing this and I have not lost anything!

I have porridge just after noon, soup around 4pm (if in) and evening meal, No biscuits, crisps etc, eat an apple if hungry, bread only at weekends!

I will persevere until the end of the month! I just need to lose this 6lb or so that has crept on over the past 2/3 years, so I know it's not a lot to lose, but I am impatient smile

Jane10 Thu 18-Jan-18 08:15:06

Don't weigh yourself! Just wait. One day soon you'll suddenly find eg trousers flapping round your legs or put your hands on your hips and find they aren't where they used to be. It's sudden and random!

OldMeg Thu 18-Jan-18 08:15:15

As you’ve little to lose I’d stick at it a quite bit longer. Obviously those with loads to shed will see a quite a quick loss.

There’s probably more important ‘things’ going on inside your body while it readjusts to this way of eating. I’ve been reading up about this and it would seem that this semi-starving can have positive metabolic effects.

NannyJan53 Thu 18-Jan-18 08:52:50

Thanks Jane10 and OldMeg

I will certainly keep on. I weigh myself as this is what I have done for years. When I stopped...this extra crept on ! I will just weigh myself at the end of the month!

Will report back in a couple of weeks smile

My bathroom scales have not had a battery for several years ??. I don't weigh myself, ever! I've been on this 16:8 diet for a month or so, with a break for Christmas and I've noticed that the waistband on my jeans is not quite as tight as it was before. It seems to be working, so I'll stick at it and report back later. Good shrinking everyone. ??

Menopaws Thu 18-Jan-18 23:18:53

Now I'm back in the routine of this I am finding it so easy and I am not thinking about food all the time like most diets, the one time I am aware is looking at the clock when I feel hungry to find I only probably have an hour to go before I start my lunch at 1 which is no hardship knowing I can then eat when and what I fancy until nearly bedtime.
I am easily satisfied at 1 and wait until about 5 to eat biggest meal then a snack or smoothie about 8 and I'm done.
I'm not obsessed with weighing myself either but I know I'm not putting it on and when I do weigh I find another pound has gone, very rewarding indeed.

I bet this makes a good maintenance diet.

I noticed that the link I posted a few days ago doesn't work now. If you want to - try this one. I hope it connects.
I thought I was imagining it when I felt that my mental processes were not quite so sluggish, but it is apparently a benefit to this way of eating.
For me, the peace and calm of my digestion is worth some hunger, Talking of hunger - that sensation is reducing too.
My son-in-law's Mum - a svelte lady - says she's eaten this way all her adult life without knowing it's a particular diet. She's a good advert for it.

Jane10 Sun 04-Feb-18 10:17:32

Well it's happened again! Another bit of me has gone. I emerged briefly from my thermal vests and fleeces to find my midriff mysteriously reduced! This makes me look (almost) as though I have an actual waist! I had been thinking that nothing much was happening due to my consumption of lots of naughty comfort foods in my 8 hours.
How is everyone else doing?

Nannyben61 Mon 05-Feb-18 09:09:37

I started 16:8 last Monday and weighed this morning, to my surprise I seem to have lost 2 lbs! Certainly haven't been denying myself during the 8 hours. Will keep going, it suits me and doesn't feel like a diet. With the weather forecast for this week I may have to comfort eat though .........

Nannylovesshopping Mon 05-Feb-18 10:24:04

Am still on it, more or less, find it fairly easy to live with but, not losing a great deal of poundage, possibly eating too much during the eight hours, always eat more in the winter evenings when I have my tv backside on, roll on spring, well done Jane10 lovely to find your waist! grin

Welshwife Mon 05-Feb-18 10:25:04

Luckily for me it is still working and I am still going down - bought a new jacket/cardi at the weekend and had to go down to a medium instead of large - lost a bit more than a stone since I started.

J52 Mon 05-Feb-18 10:40:18

Still on it, I’ve not weighed myself for some time, but trousers seem to be loose. I’m trying not to eat the wrong things in the 8 hours, but as others have said winter and being indoors too much can be a food challenge!
Roll on some warmer weather and gardening exercise.

NannyJan53 Mon 05-Feb-18 11:17:50

I have been doing this for a month now. Not lost any weight at all (only 5 or 6 pounds to loose), but clothes definitely feel slightly looser!

Will keep on till our holiday in March, where it will be much harder to keep to it.

Parsleywin Mon 05-Feb-18 13:06:44

Jane, I'm the same as you! I've got a much more clearly defined waist, after doing this for 3 months now. It mostly works out at 17:7 for me. I stuck to it over the holidays, but also enjoyed the seasonal treats so I didn't feel deprived.

This feels like a very sustainable way of eating, and I find that I also naturally do a sort of mental check during the eating hours before idly popping something in my mouth between meals. Sometimes it goes on in (!) but sometimes I realise I don't need/want it. I suppose it just makes me more aware, which is good.

Thanks again Jane for sharing. It's a keeper!

Hi, I've been following you all for a while now, and decided to try it out starting today! .It's 4.45 am I'm sat here with just a coffee instead of my usual coffee and a digestive, I've decided as I'm up so early 10 am to 6 pm would suit me better, as I'm in bed by 8pm. Does this sound OK?

Seaside22 Tue 06-Feb-18 05:29:35

Just realised your supposed to have black coffee .whoops! Don't like it black though.Any ideas ?

Jane10 Tue 06-Feb-18 08:31:14

I'm sitting here drinking my coffee too of course you can have milk in it!! No rules re content just timing.

Welshwife Tue 06-Feb-18 08:38:02

I find it works better for me if we have our main meal at lunchtime rather than the evening.

Marelli Tue 06-Feb-18 08:54:27

I'm definitely noticing a difference. Jeans aren't grabbing my thighs or waist any more. I'm finding it easy to do and not thinking about food all the time, as we do on a 'diet'. Depending on what I've got planned for the day, I vary it to be 11-7 or 12-8. Thanks again, Jane10!

Seaside22 Tue 06-Feb-18 09:52:03

Thanks jane10

Jane10 Tue 06-Feb-18 12:49:51

Please don't thank me. I didn't invent it just mentioned it!!
Good luck all sunshine

I recently came across this system while looking at 'cures' for IBS D from which I suffer and have done for years. People recommend this for that, as it gives the bowel a chance to rest thereby improving it's performance.

Of course for me, if does that primarily plus the added bonus of losing some weight, I'm in. I have only just started, so cannot comment yet on success weight wise, but I do find I can quite easily pass up on breakfast and wait till lunch time for food.

justrolljanet Sun 18-Feb-18 20:34:33

I am joining you all from tomorrow smile
