On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.

However the 2 Gransnetters who have stayed the course are Fourormore and Shirleyw who have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow, most of the time ?, and kept up our spirits. Plus a few others who make an occasional entrance and departure and that is fine too - All Welcome.

Do join us the rules are simple.

Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.

So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my mantra. I am sure both Four and Shirley will tell you their strategies.

You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.

So Onward and Downward ? in 2020 and beyond folks. Come and join us.

So much for my determination last week. I have no loss and no gain so at least that’s something.
I will be joining CocoPops and will try harder this week and wish you all good luck for your weigh in.

NfkDumpling Mon 24-Feb-20 10:57:16

No loss this week for me either. Its really difficult when the weather is so bad and I can’t even garden to work off a few calories - and stay away from the kitchen! I’ll be happy to mark time I think until Spring comes in properly.

Yennifer Mon 24-Feb-20 11:11:52

Don't worry ladies, bodies are complicated and weight loss doesn't always show on the scale for ages x

MiniMoon Mon 24-Feb-20 11:38:35

Up three quarters of a pound, blush but I knew I'd slipped. I ate chocolate!
My excuse is the terrible weather. I haven't had the will to go for a walk. I don't like walking in the rain or snow. I'll do better when the weather improves.

Whiff Mon 24-Feb-20 18:00:26

I love the way we support everyone. Thank you. It's such a delight to read and post here. So glad I joined in. If it's this windy tomorrow I'm staying in . Can't risk being blown over again. Hope the weather gets better for everyone soon.

Glad you like the thread Whiff we have been going since 2018 and I think our success is down to support when we go up and celebration when we go down.

Yennifer Mon 24-Feb-20 19:34:02

I constantly shock myself how much I can eat. Due to work etc I only ate in a 5 hour window today and still ate more than a days calories x

Nannylovesshopping Mon 24-Feb-20 21:35:51

Just half pound this week, I know it’s a loss, but, stamps feet in frustration, it was such a looooong week, well done everyone on your losses?

Whiff Tue 25-Feb-20 08:33:58

Nannylovesshopping it's a loss well done. Stamping your foot burns off calories smile.

Nannylovesshopping Tue 25-Feb-20 09:30:52

? hadn’t thought of that*Whiff*shall be stamping everywhere today!

Yennifer Wed 26-Feb-20 10:01:19

No change again, phave switched to black tea though, should equate to half a pound a week lol x

Whiff Thu 27-Feb-20 05:43:31

Yennifer staying the same weight is an achievement. I know it's not what you want but you would be kicking yourself if you had put on. As women we put a lot of pressure on ourselves don't know about anyone else be I try to be super woman. Unfortunately my mind's willing but my body stops me. Have to be kinder to ourselves and celebrate the little things and try not to worry about things we can't control.

lindadoughty650 Thu 27-Feb-20 10:01:54

Good morning all. Have stayed the same again, but that's ok. For the last three weeks the weather has been mostly horrendous. It is bright and sunny today but the wind is keen and strong, which is really tiring for a long walk. I do believe, like many of us, that not getting out and about is contributing to no movement in my weight. There have been far too many days recently when I did not leave the house. Looking forward to Spring. By the time Summer comes we'll be dancing girls lol xx

Shirleyw Thu 27-Feb-20 20:37:19

Stayed the same. I cant seem to get going at the moment, I need a 'kick up the arse'?

H1954 Thu 27-Feb-20 20:41:30

I've managed to lose less than a pound in a couple of weeks! Simply cannot get motivated and think I'm comfort eating to be honest.
I'm an evening snacker so I've started knitting to keep my hands busy and for three evenings it has helped.

Whiff Sun 01-Mar-20 08:51:47

Well stayed the same again. 8 weeks at the same weight I've resigned myself to staying the same until the weather gets better. Then I'll be able to.be more active. Happy St David's who anyone who is Welsh.

fourormore Sun 01-Mar-20 11:11:54

How lovely to see you all supporting each other so much! Thanks too for the concern while I was AWOL.flowers
Nothing much has changed but I just didn't have the willpower to discipline myself and in fact, openly sinned on occasions when I was fed up!
I weighed this morning and am about the same as I was at the beginning of January after the Christmas pile-on!
I have been higher in the interim weeks while AWOL so we won't look at that grin
Can't say I will have total dedication for a while but I am back with you all!
Keep up the good work - you are all right about the weather - no one in their right mind goes out unless they have too but spring is on its way hmm hopefully!
Good luck every one!

Beechnut Mon 02-Mar-20 06:45:22

I have a small loss this week of 3/4lb. Not great, but a small step in the right direction. In these dreary times I will try to do my best. Good luck all ??

Nannylovesshopping Mon 02-Mar-20 10:09:40

Well done Beechnut no loss for me this week, stayed same, but I’m blaming the weather too, can’t face a salad, however good for me, it’s stew and dumplings all the way, portion control an ongoing problem☹️

Happygirl79 Mon 02-Mar-20 10:19:19

Does anyone think we are naturally prone to gain weight in the Winter months?
Less activity outdoors due to the cold weather?
Eating more comfort food to stay warm?
Happens to me every year. Half a stone on.
By mid Summer I drop a few pounds naturally and shed the rest by being more careful with my diet.
Everyone's supportive here and thanks to OP for starting the thread

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 14:00:16

That sounds reasonable Happygirl x

Whiff Mon 02-Mar-20 16:43:02

Happygirl79 that makes sense never thought of it that way before. Went to sit fit this morning our instructor gave us a workout. Probably feel it tomorrow. After signing a waiver she gave us written instructions for most of the excercises called it homework. Craft group tomorrow so I plan to start doing exercises everyday from Wednesday. Been trying to that since October. When my seizures went out of control meant I had to stop doing them daily like I used to do. Am determined not to let them stop me doing what I want to do anymore.

lindadoughty650 Mon 02-Mar-20 16:45:52

Oh dear. Confession time. I made bread today. I just felt like baking. And you know what happens when there is a smell of warm, freshly baked bread in the air. Dear reader, I ate it. xx

lindadoughty650 Mon 02-Mar-20 16:46:34

...with butter

Yennifer Mon 02-Mar-20 17:08:22

Where's mine? x
