Despite having Christmas cake for breakfast yesterday(!) I brought size 14 top and trousers from the local closing Debenhams. I was size 16-18 back in July so very pleased, although it has been slow progress. refuse to do dry January though!!

I’m a pear ? the sequel!
(1001 Posts)On 08 May 2018 I started this thread for those who wanted to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle. Many people have joined up and many pounds lost and a few gained.
However the 2 Gransnetters who have stayed the course are Fourormore and Shirleyw who have helped to keep me on the straight and narrow, most of the time ?, and kept up our spirits. Plus a few others who make an occasional entrance and departure and that is fine too - All Welcome.
Do join us the rules are simple.
Choose your own style of diet plan.
Check in regularly with a report of the highs and lows of the diet.
Have an occasional binge but get back on the wagon ASAP.
Pass on any useful diet tips.
So for example I started calorie counting with the NHS Diet Plan. I now eat what I like but make portion control my mantra. I am sure both Four and Shirley will tell you their strategies.
You have nothing to lose, other than weight, on this thread.
So Onward and Downward ? in 2020 and beyond folks. Come and join us.
Hi folks, I have re joined WW so that will be my strategy! I will keep you posted. Good Luck all.
Good luck Sparkii - good for you, keep us posted as we are all behind you!
Good luck to Whiff and ME
for the moment of truth tomorrow!
I hope for a decent result tomorrow morning as I have been quite hard on myself this week having been UP last Sunday.
Isn't it hard to get back into 'normal' life after all those naughty days of Christmas.
See you tomorrow folks
-yes I am mad!
Morning all....yes fourormore, it is hard to get back to normal after the festivities, it's like weaning off the rich stuff again...
this week I'm not feeling so sluggish and getting back in the swing...lost 2 and a half pounds, so not too bad....
supergirl , that's a good going down a dress size, bet you were well chuffed!
Morning all. Put on this week but only a little. As I think I have said I don't beat myself up over it anymore. Today is the start of another week. Just continue as normal. What I finally realised when I started this journey that I had to be kind to myself and if I put on it wasn't the end of the world. Not like the old me who would have given up. Upset myself the other day looked at photos of me when my children got married and saw what I looked like. My children said but you looked lovely I know I did but I had blinkers on how fat I was. My late husband loved me for me and glad to said could never keep his hands off me. But I love this new me and am never going back. Sorry I seem to be rambling but I do tend to be reflective this time of the year as it's the lead up to the anniversary of my husband's death early next month. Hope the weighers are happy with their lot today.
Bless you Whiff some times in the year are always difficult but you are on the right road and on the right thread for support

As you say we must never beat ourselves up and today is the start of another week!
I recorded a loss of 2.4lb this morning but when I take into account that by sheer piggery the week before, I had put on 1.8lb, basically today cancelled that out and in reality I've lost less than a pound.
Between us all though we have lost half a stone (that we know about) so it's all good!
Keep up the good work - we are a great team and we WILL get there with perseverance and support.
Little by little, gently does it!
Good luck everyone as we start another week!
I have Beechnut, Cocopops and Woodmouse down as weighing on Mondays so good luck vibes from all of us - onwards and downwards to quote NanKate who we hope is feeling better by the hour!
I'm still doing really well, when my body wanders to the kitchen I will just have 3 mini bread sticks and hummus. Less than 40 calories and stops the craving x
Haven't been on those scales since we came back from a couple of days in York. Holidays are a downfall although we always do a lot of walking.
Still using my fitbit and aiming for 10000 steps a day. Treadmill runs are going well. Today's 5 k run completed in 30.44 mins so there is definitely an improvement regarding fitness. I could really do with building in some strength exercises too. I've tried pilates and didn't like it, so I will have to do some research.
Good luck and loss in the forthcoming week everyone.
I am on the Pacific West Coast and 8 hours behind the UK so Sunday evening here.
Phew! Week 1 done! Lost 4lbs although no doubt much of that is only water.
Start weight = 146.8lbs
End of week 1 = 142.4lbs
Target = Not sure.
I haven't increased my exercise. I walk my dog for 45 mins twice a day and swim once a week. Food wise I've reduced the carbs, cut out sugar and dairy, increased veggies and am drinking more water.
This thread is great. So good to have support. Thanks to all and Good Luck everyone.
Well done*Cocopops*.
I have lost 1/4lb. Not a lot but it is a loss.
I have now finished up the Christmas food so hope to have a better result next week
Well done both of you! What a great start to the week!
You are absolutely right Beechnut - a loss is NOT a gain!
If you have been finishing up the Christmas food that is why and if we know the reason why we can cope can't we!
Next week will be better!
Wow Coco - the Pacific West Coast - I am not

jealous (much!!!) - don't worry about us shivering and soaking wet
It's chucking it down here and blowing a gale!
Tonight's good luck vibes go to Dec46for tomorrow!
Fourormore It is snowing here! Grandkiddies delighted that the skiing season is underway.
Bad day, bad thoughts, bad food and huge quantities. Work tomorrow, I'm just not good home alone x
Yennifer don't beat yourself up. It's a new day. Be kind to yourself. I had decades of doing that . It doesn't do you any good physically or mentally. Took me until I was 59 to realise that. Slow learner moi! Have a good day.
Cocopops! Please keep the snow - I'm definitely not a snow person
and somehow, the fact it is still tipping it down here doesn't bother me anymore!
Well said Whiff - Yennifer we all have 'off' days but we climb back onto the wagon so please don't beat yourself up. I'm the same when 'home alone' and I'm not sure what the answer is as grazing is inevitable I think.
I find that my system of being disciplined six days a week and having my 'Sinday' after weighing on Sunday morning seems to help. I don't know what work you do but perhaps if you only have one day off each week you could look at it as your 'sin'day?
Don't feel bad tho - we're all here to support you and slipping up once doesn't mean you can't start again!
Tonight's good luck vibes go again to Supergirlsnan, Tanith and Yennifer!!!
Yennifer hope you are over your wobble and you get a positive result but don't give up - we're all rooting for each other!
Hello all; it's great reading all the updates.
My fitbit has really kept me on target and i have walked my 7500 steps every day. I am also logging my food, except for Saturday when we had company, dinner and a few glasses of wine. I just enjoyed without feeling i needed to keep track for one day.
My scale is not digital, so weight is therefore approximate. Down 2 lbs sin Jan 2. Of course that may be some fluid loss, but I'll take it.
We are having a very cold spell, arctic air flow. -10 degrees Celsius! I did go tobogganing with the grandkids; now that is exercise! They are too small to bring the toboggan back up the hill, so up i went, about 20 times! I slid down with them a few times, and experience the joy that i did as a child!
Ah poo, forgot to weigh amd have a big wet towel on my head, will do it after work x
I thought sod it as I have busy times later. Another 2 pounds down with wet hair!
Start weight 10.8
Current weight 10.4
Goal weight 9.7
Tummy bug last week would account for most, expecting a slow down now unless I really pull out all the stops x
I think I am going to fast a bit longer every day, see if I can counteract my recent snacking urges x
Feeling low, Should have posted this two days ago.
Monday arrived and on the scales, 2nd week and still no weight lost .
Daily meals all balanced and correct portions (except last Friday). Hand all bandaged after small op on it. All day at hospital so called to get fish and chips on way home.
One biscuit per day (big reduction !)
More exercise. Dog gets walk twice as long.
Haven't put my weight on here before: 14:8 - Size 18.
My saving grace is that I am tall, Just tip 6'.
Wish I could feel positive about next Monday's weigh in,
Think of all the good you are doing your health Woodmouse49! Interesting fact. A lot of people give up on healthy food too soon because fat cells fill with water when they empty of fat. That's where measurements show the difference because water takes up less space! When your body realises it won't be using those fats cells and more are emptying it finally let's go of the water. Google woosh effect x
Yennifer well said! You will be fine Woodmouse, our bodies are strange things and if you are feeling down it makes things harder!
I have sinned this morning. I had some bad news about a good friend (nothing life threatening) but I was really angry so I had biscuits with a strong coffee when I got in.
These things happen so we just start again!
For the information of anyone else looking at this thread, we only give details of our weight IF WE WANT TO as some may not want to state figures.
Personally I don't mind (I think it helps me psychologically to put the numbers in writing!) but we all understand if others simply want to say they've lost or gained a pound or whatever.
Together we've lost over half a stone already this week and we've only had two days so far! We are all doing our bit - sometimes we will add, sometimes we will take away but we are all in it ... together!
Good vibes being sent tonight to our Thursday losers - NanKate (provided she is feeling better of course) and Lindadoughty Good luck!

Good morning everyone. I have stuck to my intention of regularising my eating, and find that porridge in the mid morning and my main meal early evening about 5 pm, serves my hunger well. I have walked daily (through gales !!).
I have been rewarded with a loss of a fraction over HALF A POUND. This is going to be a long job.
Well done to all who have lost something or feel okay with how they have done, and to those who feel a bit down, what the heck it's the start of another week, another step on the journey, sometimes we have a pitstop.
