Ah diddums are the consequences of your actions catching up with you?

A change of heart is needed! You need to face up to your own actions and stop acting as the only victim.

Some.of their charity work is to use thier image to help other charities raise money.
I’m sure I’ve read some quite vitriolic posts about other members of the RF doing that.

I don't know how these things work in America.

Many charities take large salaries for the SEO, such as these en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEO_compensation_among_charities_in_the_United_Kingdom

Internet: Salaries of American Charity CEO. Big business.

Everyone has an opinion I suppose.

Most famous people use thier image to promote causes and raise money for charities they don't own.

Isnt that what the royal family does? All those patronages? They are using their image to help those charities raise money. By raising awareness.

But if H & M do it, it is bad.

Mollygo Wed 04-Jan-23 19:20:07

Imaround, raising awareness by using your status isn’t bad IMO, but I’ve read so many posts criticising the RF for doing exactly that that I thought I’d raise awareness of those posters.

It is interesting to note how the highest salaries of CEOs in charity in both the UK and the US are health care related.

I also find it very fascinating that so many people forget past royals who have written books about their lives/family.

Edward III - 1951 A King's Story: The Memoirs of the Duke of Windsor
Wallis - 1956 The Heart Has Its Reasons: The Memoirs of the Duchess of Windsor

They used the royalties from these books to fund their life after being cut off by the royal family. (sound familiar?)

Diana - 1992
Sarah - 1996
Charles - 1994 He was not credited as an author, but he openly collaborated with the author. It was also rather critical to prince Phillip. (sound familiar?)
Princess Alice - 1983 & 1992
Harry - 2023

Here is a list of royals who have done interviews with the press:

Harry & Meghan
Andrew
Eugenie & Beatrice - this discussed their difficulty with the British press. (sound familiar?)
Camilla - talked about how she was treated by the press
Sarah - has often talked about her treatment in the press
Charles
Diana

It seems rather hypocritical for anyone to look down on H & M and not hold the same contempt for every other royal who have done the same in the past. It seems to be a rather inconvenient truth.

tickingbird Wed 04-Jan-23 20:12:24

I can’t recall any of the above spending two years trashing their family and the UK to fund their lifestyle.

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 20:18:35

Ok, so if they did it a shorter amount of time it is fine then?

Just one book? Just one interview? That is OK? But 2 years draws the line?

volver Wed 04-Jan-23 20:20:58

As I said above - Edward and Mrs Simpson may have been Nazis who admired Hitler, and possibly been implicated in a Nazi plot to overthrow the government and replace them with Nazi pawns, but at least they didn't say things about their family that others disagreed with. hmm

Aveline Wed 04-Jan-23 20:41:49

I'm sure they did but the media of the time was very compliant and, besides, even most of their friends abandoned them. They'd asked several hundred people to their wedding but most didn't accept an invitation. A sad and complicated time.

Callistemon21 Wed 04-Jan-23 21:00:51

may have been
possibly been implicated

And Meghan may have bullied staff hand-picked by Harry to ease her path into the Royal Family.
Meghan may have been interviewed by Oprah - who knows?

And Harry may does? keep casting aspersions on his family publicly.

Katie59 Wed 04-Jan-23 21:02:37

"I want my Father back. I want my brother back"

Pathetic

If it was my family, I would say you can come back anytime you want to.
That is probably very close to the RFs viewpoint.

OnwardandUpward Wed 04-Jan-23 21:07:44

Writing a book is a different kettle of fish entirely to going on Oprah and spilling the beans! (etc)
If only all H&M had done was write a book, they'd probably have been invited for Christmas.

volver Wed 04-Jan-23 21:10:36

I can't believe that this thread is holding up the Duke and Duchess of Windsor as good royals who did the right thing.

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 21:14:33

What about when Charles was accused of bullying staff? Angela Kelly herself wrote about it.

"working for him (Charles) is not a 9 to 5 job"

There are reports of him pulling a sink off the wall with his bare hands. Dickie reported that Charles yelled at a staff member in front of him.

I want to know what Meghan did that is worse than yelling at staff, working them long hours and pulling a sink off the wall with his bare hands?

Why has no one ever filed a complaint against Charles, or Andrew for that matter?

Callistemon21 Wed 04-Jan-23 21:17:08

Dickie
Dickie Who?

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 21:18:01

Well Charles, Andrew, Diana and Sarah all did interviews as well as books. Lord, Sarah did press in the US for quite a while!

Why are you holding Harry & Meghan to a higher standard?

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 21:18:29

Dickie Arbiter

Callistemon21 Wed 04-Jan-23 21:19:51

Oh, a journalist.

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 21:21:34

You mean the Royal Press Secretary?

tickingbird Wed 04-Jan-23 21:21:39

Who’s ‘Dickie’? I can’t imagine Charles being strong enough to pull a sink off the wall but what if he did? At least he’s hands on with the renovating.

Reducing staff to quivering wrecks and leaving multiple aides in tears over a short period of time with her bullying trumps sink removal in my book.

VioletSky Wed 04-Jan-23 21:26:40

Because uppity young people not doing as their elders say I expect

I didn’t buy their books either.

imaround Wed 04-Jan-23 21:36:37

Wow. So being tough on staff is worse than physical violence.

Ok. Good to know

tickingbird Wed 04-Jan-23 21:47:09

So ‘tough on staff’ - euphemism for bullying is ok by you?

Physical violence??? Oh please 😂😂
