how come there are such phrases as,
white trailer trash etc.
and people boast of their income, that they live in an affluent area, and there are strong residents' groups to keep out the wrong sort of people.
most countries have their own class system.

I've lived in the U.S. 50 years and there is no class system here that compares to the one in the U.K. Here, one day you could be down on your luck and the next king of the hill. That's what Americans call the American Dream.

Also in the U.S many affluent areas are often scattered with some not so affluent homes, maybe even a trailer park a few blocks away.

'White trash' comes from slave times when slaves considered white people who were so poor they owned no slaves, as trash. (Slave Narratives from the Federal Writers' Project, 1936-1938).

Not really sure what you meant by residents groups attempting to "keep out the wrong sort of people". If you mean keeping people out because of their race, that is very, very illegal. Home Owners Associations don't care who you are as long as you follow their rules.

But this isn't what he said. He said "I would like" for each of them. Nothing about wanting. But of course expecting accurate reporting of his words is too much to ask for. Or that people actually watch the clip and listen for themselves.

I think what you are saying is incorrectly quoted too Glorianny.
He actually said, "I would like to get my father back," which usually implies some kind of wish to obtain or even earn something.
Alternatively he might just be using poor English grammar, the word "get" being a redundant word.

I'd go for the poor grammar 'get' is one of those words. He also says "I would like to have my brother back".
The only 'I want' is "I want a family, not an institution."
If that's being demanding well I think most of us want that and no one wants to live in an institution.

But no comment about the lack of accuracy in the thread title? I wonder why?

Perhaps more will be revealed when we see any accompanying body language like arm waving, hand clenching, blinking etc. The experts will no doubt come up with some observations about his ears twitching

This is why there is such a general disconnect between generations. Younger people want to talk, they want to be heard, they want to be loved and accepted as they are, they want healthy relationships and they want to heal. Coming up against image orientated rugsweeping families who allow bullying in the press and the public as long as they come out of it smelling good. Also very likely winding up quietly and in person.

As an older person I want all of those things. It's not only the young who want to be heard and loved and accepted as they are.
Its a basic human right to be allowed to think your own thoughts and be respected for it. H&M have exercised their free right to privacy, yet as always, actions have consequences.

I don't think anyone in the RF is coming up smelling good in this mess. With estrangement every one is a loser.

It's crazy isn't it. Like my son has had a lot of MH problems, Harry has too. They are vulnerable and get preyed on easily online on anonymous sites by people who won't be bearing the consequences of the actions they are advising.
If they would talk to the ones who love them and want to hear, it would have the potential for relationships to be saved.

My son used to be chatty (and I always listened!) before he got involved with those people who drove a wedge in. I'm sure that could happen to anyone, even Harry.

But not trashing their families in the process then crying crocodile tears in public because their loved ones have withdrawn in their hurt and confusion.

My DSs were raised in the real world and are useful and productive members of society.
Harry was raised in a bubble and an institution his main purpose being a substitute. Not surprisingly he has few skills and needs expensive protection. so he's making money any way he can.
Perhaps his loved ones should have given more thought to this before they threw him out.

Its never too late to get an education or learn new skills, fortunately.

I couldn’t care less what Hand M say about their families but I think it is utterly disgusting to say it publicly for personal gain. When they got married I thought it was really good and they would be a big asset for the RF but it hasn’t turned out that way.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the vitriol since they left the UK and to see only that. There is an article in the Bristol Post tonight with photos from when they visited Bristol in February 2019. Both Harry and Meghan seemed more relaxed and natural with no posing. All I could think was what a shame.

It is such a shame, for their kids too who won't get to enjoy time with their cousins as they would have done- and who must read al about everything online one day.

The Duke and Duchess of Windsor did not go on about ‘security’. I’m not even sure they had any, and as a very popular abdicated King, it would have been handy to have him completely removed, as well as the fact there are always fanatics about.

Rubbish. Diana believed in the monarchy even after her own experience and would have been upset that her eldest, the heir to the throne was being put through the mill publicly by her youngest son.
