Babs hopefully your grandson is better today than yesterday. And hope your daughter and son in law got some sleep . Babies and young children are tougher than we think . And your grandson is a fighter and young enough he wouldn't remember all his gone through when he's older. Unfortunately it's parents who suffer and never forget . But it's the price we pay for having children a life time of worry and for grandparents the added worry over our grandchildren.

Smiles hope you and Mr S feel better today . My daughter and youngest grandson have had a cough for 2 weeks after a cold . Why is it the cough takes longer to go than the cold bits🤔. My craft group where very happy to have the cake . Plus the week before I had got taking to the chef at the Brain Charity cafe about my baking and making jams marmalade and chutneys. I asked would he like a jar of red tomato chutney did tell him it's not like brought so the consistency isn't the same as I don't using any thickening and it comes of the hob before it starts to stick to the bottom of the pan. I don't put chilli in anything as I don't like it but use plenty of spices. Said his son was coming to stay so I took him pound jar of my red tom chutney, pound jar of apple and strawberry jam, half pound jars of green tom chutney and Seville orange marmalade. Gave him a piece of my gingerbread. I had made it with dark brown sugar instead of light and had forgotten I need to add an extra teaspoon of ginger because of the dark brown sugar being stronger tasting . So my cake wasn't as ginger as it it usually is but still taste good. Must remember to write it in my recipe book.

Because our parents taught us to cook from an early age both my brother and me taught ours to cook. And my son was teaching his boys to cook . And my daughter's boys love baking . My husband was cake and pudding mad. But he didn't put weight on just me 😡. The only cake he could make was a cut and come again cake a very old BeRo recipe. But he made the best roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding.

Turned out it was my friends email that got hacked but she still had a tiscali email address. I told her years ago to have gmail.com . My daughter was surprised thought tiscali no longer existed. The computer engineer still has work to do on her computer as everything has to be wiped and reinstalled. And all anti virus and theft stuff installed.

Supposed to be dry today so will get rid of the the leaves that have piled up in front of my greenhouse.

Take care all.

Morning all

So sorry to hear about your DGS Babs I wish him better.

I was in A&E yesterday for 6 hours! Went for lunch with my friend who had just come out of hospital, stopping to pick up some shopping for her first. We had a lovely lunch, we then moved from the dining area to the sitting room, she laid on the settee, moved about a bit to get comfortable and as she moved, we heard a big POP!

I drove her to the hospital as everyone knows you wait hours for an ambulance to arrive. It was shambles there as they were renovating the A&E reception, so we were next door in pediatrics to book in, only one nurse! No vending machines to get a drink or snacks. After X-ray, turns out she hadn't dislocated it, as we thought, but it had slipped out of line.

After 6 hours and no sign of much happening, her very reluctant D came up to relieve me. Good job too as she was finally put on a ward at 4am! Nothing to eat and lucky to be given a drink.

Babs sorry to hear your GS took a turn for the worst, but good to hear he should be well enough to go home next day. It's a good thing that only one parent can stay, means the other can go home and have some sleep, then swap.

Babs your right about not listening to others when first estranged. Everyone kept telling me to back-off and give them space, but I didn't listen. It takes time to get a handle on things.

Smiles sorry you are both ill [after your jabs] hmm. Well done sorting out your flat, enjoy a rest now in your new home.

Yoginimeisje Sat 26-Oct-24 08:50:14

Whiff that chef was lucky with all the chutney you gave him and the ginger cake too. Do you sell it to him, just thought you gave him so much. If you don't sell it maybe you should, start a little stall somewhere, maybe a little farm shop.

SparklyGrandma Sat 26-Oct-24 08:52:07

So do I hope my ‘BF’ gets sorted out soon. I’ve reported all to the police.

I had two nice visitors yesterday and one on Wednesday! Nice long chats, I feel blessed..

Planning a quiet day, some reading, maybe catch some autumn sun sitting outside with a coffee, with my guard cat and her sister. Then later a film, and Greek food that Aunty Waitrose had delivered to me…

Have any of you plans for the weekend you’d wish to share?

My non guard cat;

Morning all too, Yogi

Morning Whiff, Smiles, Yogi, and Sparkly, and morning to all the other estrangees,
GS just waiting for doc to say is ok to go home. A better night thank God.
Sorry about your friend and the long wait in A&E Yogi, those places are grim, hope she is ok now.
Whiff I definitely have to make a home visit to Lancashire soon and drop in to taste your wares. Your hands might shake but girl you’ve got a gift for making things.
@Sparkly grandma your black and white cat is just like one we had when just married, he was a Tom and one of the softest gentlest cats we ever had. He was more like a dog than a cat, would follow us around everywhere and come for cuddles.
All the neighbours loved him a well.
Much missed 🥹

Good morning all, I came to this forum a few weeks ago (under a similar name) but stepped away from the keyboard in response to the insidious nature of the disruptive posters. I get it that it’s a public forum and any nutter can post but it seems that it attracts a certain cohort who most definitely, having cut contact with their own relatives, decide to vent and drip their venom at strangers on the internet.

But what I wanted to say today is that I very much appreciate the kindness and understanding of the long-serving posters on this thread. I am getting to where many of you are, a place of peace. It takes a special kind of person to attempt to destroy an genuinely loving family. It’s clear to me now that the unhappiness remains with them - the dislike, the twisting of kindness and the need for drama.

Yes, of course it hurts, its like a knife going through you, but letting go of that and finding peace is essential. Otherwise you are caught up in the never-ending cycle of abuse and destruction.

So I smile each day, I find joy in small things and its heart-warming to find others who ‘get it’. Thank you.

Babs03 Sat 26-Oct-24 09:54:46

@RubyLegend
Thanks for dropping in to show your support. And yes there have been a sudden influx of imposters who sadly have decided to target a support thread, which in and of itself is pretty reprehensible. But people can be cruel, even family members whom we loved and back then loved us too.
However, that is one mystery I have resigned myself to never solving and am happy to live with that and reap the rewards of a calm and peaceful life.
Take care 🙏🏾🌹

Smileless2012 Sat 26-Oct-24 14:06:07

It's great to see you here Ruby. I remember your posts in the previous support thread and the valuable contribution you made and am glad that you've come back smile.

I agree unhappiness remains with some who are estranged and it's sometimes projected on to the EP's on this forum. Too often we are not believed and yet the behaviour we are sometimes subjected too on GN is proof, if any is needed to just how unpleasant some EAC can be.

It's good to know you're finding joy again, something that I don't think any EP ever thinks will happen when they first become estranged.

Keep smiling Ruby and post again.

SparklyGrandma Sat 26-Oct-24 15:17:59

Babs03 he sounds lovely - Tuxedo cats are lovely company. Sorry for the sad loss of yours.

Mine ‘helps’ me when I am doing anything in the kitchen, especially when I have a supermarket delivery, she likes to inspect each bags and its contents…

SparklyGrandma Sat 26-Oct-24 15:18:38

Welcome back Ruby

Not sure if I am posting this right but this is a pic of Petra our beautiful Siamese who was with us for many years. A cool customer who would always let us know if we would be tolerated in her close environs.

Ha ha so true and they have a loud cry like babies, ours would sit outside our bedroom door and cry in the morning until we got up to feed her, then she would stroll off to sit on the window sill surveying us with obvious disdain.
She knew she was the boss.

One of mine (Lottie) used to think she was a scarf. She was only happy draped around my neck, “talking” loudly in my ear.

If I peeled her off, she’d try to wreck the house lol 🙄

She was a nightmare, but I loved her. 🐈‍⬛

Another nice pic of your other cat Sparkly

I had great day out in London yesterday, went on river Huba, Saw Cutty Sark and the Gonola was actually a cable car! Lovely lunch by the River Thames, back home late, tired but happy.

Yoginimeisje Sun 27-Oct-24 08:20:52

Thanks Babs yes, my friend is OK, been 'speaking this morning, but not sure if she's still in hospital. Saw the pic of your beautiful cat. x

Good morning!!
Grandson back at home, had a good nights sleep and temp has come down!!
So we are happy bunnies.
Off for a long walk today to blow away the cobwebs. A viewing yesterday that went really well so 🤞
Hope you all have a great day and thanks to those who keep this forum and this thread going despite constant shenanigans from those trying to sabotage it.
Take care ❤️🌹

I was very pleased to get that extra hour in bed this morning. Teaching my class and then off for a family meal to celebrate my son's birthday on Tuesday. Can't remember if I've already said, but have a big surprise for him on the day grin

Yoginimeisje Sun 27-Oct-24 08:33:14

So good to hear your GS is home and doing well Babs Enjoy your walk in the sun and glad the viewing went well.

Held a little baby yesterday, a big boy, heavy! very cute, little round cheeks. He is my b.i.l's new baby, b.i.l same age as me, almost 70, but has a young wife and so starting a second family. I thought he had aged since I last saw him, wonder why grin.

Smileless2012 Sun 27-Oct-24 08:47:43

Morning everyone. I hope no one got up an hour earlier this morning than they needed too grin.

Petra was a handsome cat Babs he had that look of coolness and attitude that Siamese do so well. Wonderful new about your GS, you must all be so relieved that he's back home.

Glad yesterday's viewing went well. There's someone out there just waiting to see and fall in love with your house so don't despair, you'll get a buyer.

Good to hear that your friend is better Yogin. She was fortunate that you were with her and stayed for so long in A&E. You're definitely a friend indeed for a friend in need smile.

I had a couple of Sphynx cats that did that DL. I could walk around the house with one of them draped around my neck; oh boy I do miss my cats sad.

trying to sabotage this forum is what's key here because despite trying really hard to do so, they're failing and rather than portraying EP's as toxic, abusive and narcissistic, they're simply shining the spotlight on their own issues.

It appears that for some of those who've estranged, it hasn't been the cure all they thought it would be. That's the danger of estranging those you think are at fault when it isn't them at all; because it's you.

Smileless - sometimes I wonder if some of these posts wouldn’t be better left there to swing in the wind.🤷‍♀️

It’s obvious, with most of them, who are the toxic ones. And, it’s not the EPs.🙂. These posters really show themselves up for what they are - bitter, angry and getting nowhere near “healthy and healed” 🙄
