Welcome Diana50, sorry you find yourself in this situation, I hope these lovely supporters can help you navigate through it.
Morning all, hope you are all plodding on .
It’s been a while so I will start us off…….whats for supper and why?
So here we are again, another thread for friends we've already made and for those we are yet to meet.
The last few days have been difficult because for as long as some of us have been contributing to the support threads, offensive posts from these 'new' members still not only disrupt, but can hurt too.
'The truth shall set you free' popped into my head over the weekend because these 'new' members/trolls/previously banned posters are not being truthful to us here on this forum or possibly to themselves either.
In order for the truth to free us we have to be honest because honesty and truthfulness can liberate us from all kinds of emotional baggage like guilt and fear and also the impact of deception on our lives.
Guilt often prevents 'admitting' to estrangement in the first place and many live with the fear of permanent estrangement, that estrangement is inevitable or the fear of what a reconciliation my bring.
The impact that the deception from those who lie about us to others is sometimes unquantifiable as is the impact of lying to themselves.
What we share may not always be pretty, it may not always be easy to share or to read but it does help ourselves, one another and who knows how many who read but never post and that I believe is what really matters.
Welcome Diana50, sorry you find yourself in this situation, I hope these lovely supporters can help you navigate through it.
Morning all, hope you are all plodding on .
Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend.
Our lovely vicar from our old church who has now retired spent the weekend with us and it was lovely to see her again
.
Don't ever feel ashamed Babs for doing whatever you could to try and maintain your relationship with your ED. The hardest thing I think for any parent, is the realisation that their behaviour was abusive.
A warm welcome Diana and as we always say, we're glad you have found us but sorry that you needed too because we of course know how heartbreaking estrangement is
.
Hello Bridie it's lovely to see you and as you'll have seen we're all plodding on
.
Good news at last!!
DH went into Barts Hospital London on Monday for his heart procedure. We were all holding our breath. But the procedure went well and yesterday he was transported home. 🙏🏾 Is early days and he is still taking thinners prescribed for the op that could start a bleed but at least now the risk of another stroke is greatly reduced.
So now we can breathe easier.
Thanks to everyone who wished him well and held us in their prayers and thoughts.
It must have worked.
Much love ❤️
That's wonderful news Babs, you must all be so relieved

That's wonderful news Babs, you must all be so relieved
We certainly are. And hoping that other health challenges can now be met with renewed strength and determination.
🌹
Well done to Mr.B, lovely to hear such good news
xx
Forgot to say; went to a Jazz club on Friday night, made me realise I don't actually like Jazz, love the saxophone, but one wasn't played on Friday, just a singing with guitar a second guitarist and a drummer.
Just respond to this page as to upset to read anymore.
Babs great news about Mr B . So glad it went well and you are both home . Back to your drill sargent routine once he heals and isn't so tired. Babs all you and Mr B have faced you will get through whatever life throws at you plus your new bungalow to look forward to .
Smiles glad you had a lovely time with your old vicar . Bet she loved your new home .
Bridie lovely to hear from you . Nice to know you are still there to give us and newbies support, advice and friendship.
Yogin I hate Jazz as well . Love classical music seeing Sir Stephen Hough playing Rachmaninov next month . Not classical but Fisherman's friends in February and Elgar concert in March. All at the Phil . Because I am on there access scheme for disabled once I pay for my ticket get a free one for companion. But wasn't on scheme when I booked Fisherman's friends way back in February. No one is going with me next month so gave the free ticket back . A friend may go with me in March.
Because of the government changing results can't get free covid jab some Boots are doing paid ones but not by me only in the city. So found independent pharmacy that does paid ones £86. Told to go today I had said it was for a paid one .So set off at 7.10am this morning got there lady filled in the form as I can't write very well. Went in to pharmacist who said only doing free covid and flu today. As you know my life runs on planning and routine. It's how I cope with my HPX like a twit burst into tears. They promised to phone when I can have it . What upset I had checked . A lady which had her flu jab kindly brought me home . I said no at first but she insisted . But she wouldn't have any petrol money off me as she said it was her good deed for the day. But',s that's what people are like up here.
Really need my mindfulness class this afternoon. I hate wasted journeys plus it was 10° a shop near the pharmacy glad I put my like scarf on.as I was frozen .
So a upset moaning Minnie today . 😁
Oh no Whiff, so sorry. Can understand why you got so upset. As you know our lives now have to be planned ahead with every possible eventuality accounted for. Is exhausting. So to be let down due to an admin error etc., is just awful.
No idea why you don’t qualify is madness. I don’t qualify either so am also paying for it and have booked for Boots near us next week. DH gets it but only because he has an autoimmune condition which he has had all his life and never really bothers him. Not because he is now disabled and high risk.
As his full time carer I would have qualified last year but not now. Is a weird set of criteria. Neighbours of ours who are just over 75 are really fit and healthy, cycling, running marathons, and generally putting everyone else to shame, they aren’t even going for their jabs because they say they hit covid a couple of times and it was just like a bad cold.I think hospitals will be overwhelmed with covid this year and the government could have saved that money by extending the covid jab criteria.
Well, that’s my moan over as well 🤣

Oh Yogi, I don’t like Jazz either, have an SiL who loves it and often puts on a record when we are there - he is also into vinyl- it sounds to me as if they they are just making it up as they go along, was the same with the inimitable Cleo Lane, very gifted, but she didn’t half go on.
😬
Good news Babs, I hope your hubby goes from strength to strength.
Oh Whiff, what a morning for you, can't believe they couldn't give you a vaccine, it only takes a minute and you were paying for it, what a jobs worth!
Hope your class has calmed you, sending hugs 🤗
The criteria for covid jabs has changed so my sister in law who has MS ,and my brother who has a heart condition, carer for both his wife and father in law both will have to pay.. Lucky my adopted dad as I call her dad is 93 has COPD got his but only because of his age not his COPD .
Lot of people have it up here one of my neighbours her daughter and family have covid and it's been 2 weeks only just feeling better but still not negative .
Thankfully my Mindfulness class helped me . It's the only class I can close my eyes relax and my arms are still and my hands don't shake. Our teacher sent me a link to some of the videos and I listen to them at home and they are calming a couple are for children as she goes into schools to work with children who need help . If anyone wants the link PM and I will send it to you as don't know if allowed to post it on GN. I am a big synic when it comes to anything like this but went with an open mind and it works . And if it will work on my it will help anyone .
Smiles hope this makes you laugh and singing and exercise on Wednesday I sang 4 lines solo with my tuneless voice but loved it. Our teacher has a beautiful voice plays mainly guitar but other instruments as well and writes her own songs . Plus she is very beautiful. I love going but the classes will end soon . So decided to see if I can find a group for singers that are tuneless. There are different classes run by the council but they are in the city at the centre but I wouldn't go as I can't cope with the high buildings ,noise and amount of people. Plus the 4 hours round trip . That's why I can't go to the Brain Charity just can't travel 4 hours in a day . I included waiting time for buses and trains in that time . But going to the Brain Charity next month for the yearly round up but with go by taxi . Be lovely to see old faces as I have missed it so much.
Decorations for Halloween are going up and fireworks have been going off . Hate the fireworks they look pretty but the noise when they start sets my HPX off so stiff like a board then I know it will be hours before it stops .
Hope Smiles and Yogin it doesn't effected the dogs to much . I don't know if they bother cats or not . Funny never asked a cat owner if they do 🤔. Hopefully someone can tell me .
Finally can have Sainsbury's delivery today . My fridge and freezer have never been so empty .
Got most of my Christmas presents and cards . My grandsons presents are spilt between birthday and Christmas as the youngest birthday next month and his brother's January.
As the years go by do wonder what my other 3 grandson's like . Do they like the same things as the 2 I see . If I saw them in the street I wouldn't recognise them but as I live in the north of the city and they south so no chance of bumping into them . It doesn't make me sad as decided 2 years ago I wouldn't let me and been happier since . They are frozen in time like my husband.
My best friend who it's been widowed 3 years ago next month finally doing something on her own . She is going on 23rd-27th to luxury spa hotel for Christmas but I like I told her there will be lots of other people on their own . So we decided no Christmas now or future presents just birthday presents . Got friends coming new years eve for lunch so that will be fun . Especially as as the mom had both cataracts done and new hearing aids since saw them few months ago . We keep in touch regularly but like me they are busy . The mom is in a choir last year they did a song in Latin this year for Christmas it will be Mendelson which she said is tricky ..
Smiles did you join a choir by where you are now I can't remember if you had our not?
Well better shut up . Take care everyone.
Morning everyone.
No wonder you were so upset and frustrated Whiff. The criteria for eligibility for the Covid vaccine does seem very odd if you're not eligible
. How kind of that lady to give you a lift home
. People like that really do restore our faith in human nature don't they.
Singing is so good for you, physically and mentally so I hope you can find a group to join which is accessible for you. I haven't joined a choir yet, have had a look and there are a few so I'll give it some serious thought in the new year.
Learning a piece in Latin is tricky as it's not just the music you have to learn but also pronunciation. It's a great feeling though when you accomplish it
.
Well better shut up!!! Perish the thought Whiff x
Like you Yogin I love the saxophone but not a fan of jazz. The second time we went to visit DS in Aus. we went to a jazz club with him and some of his friends and I did enjoy it more than I was expecting but that was due to the fabulous singer.
I agree though Babs that it often sounds as if they're making it up as they go, especially when it's only instrumental.
Have a good day everyone.
Our dogs have never been bothered by fire works but I do feel for those animals and their owners who are. They're not allowed on the site here which is great for anyone with pets of a nervous disposition.
Morning all
Whiff how ridiculous the pharmacist wouldn't give you the jab when you'd travelled all that way, so nice of that lady to give you a lift home. Fireworks can be unpleasant for some, my Lilly was really afraid of them, tried everything, every year something different, in the end found the best way was to hold her tight next to me. I always thought Joey wasn't affected by them till last year I cuddled him closed to me and then realised he was shacking! Most animals are affected by the firworks, cats as well.
It's well known that singing is good for you, it is used for dementia patients now. So I hope you find a new class to go to. Same as Smiles who really enjoys her choir & singing.
Sounds like all are in agreement with me re: the Jazz. Nice to see your posts Birdie.
Have my GDs staying over tonight as it's my DD ann. of when her and her H first met, so they are going out for a meal and a stay in a lovely hotel.
Heard from the pharmacy I can have my jab Monday morning so another early morning out. But if they change their mind when I get there when they open I will sit there until they give it to me. It's not as if I aren't paying for it £86 but can't afford to have covid.
I think it's the governments way to kill people off so they don't have to give us our state pension.
Whiff, l hope you got your Covid jab with no bother yesterday.
Hilltop I got my covid jab no problem . The assistant filled in the form as I have difficulty writing my hands shake and my writing is minute . No soreness or rash unlike my flu jab 4 weeks earlier . Thank you for asking .
Good news about your Covid jab Whiff, you shouldn't have had to pay for it though.
Feeling rather sorry for myself as I have viral tonsillitis, have a painful sore throat and feel as if I've swallowed a golf ball and it's stuck at the back of my throat
.
Smiles that so painful and sore. Plus it makes you feel awful . Swallowing even water is painful. When I had it few years ago my mouth felt vile and worried my breath smelt . Unfortunately it being viral antibiotics won't help . It will take time to go . I was told to gargurle with salt water which was painful but did it no idea if it helped or not .
Hopefully this will make you smile . At my singing and exercise class there was only my teacher and me. We did it in the church as someone had locked the connecting door for the room we use and she hadn't got a key and the priest was out. Had a look round the church first it was lovely more religious paintings than stained glass windows but it was a Catholic church.
So we where a duet one who's voice is beautiful and one tuneless one but I love to sing . Sang 4 lines solo again . Did the exercises and ended up singing Abba thank you for the music which I thought was apt in the church it had great agustics I know not spelt correctly but can't think how to spell it 🤦.
Mindfulness class this afternoon. Then day in tomorrow. Take care all .
Smileless, hope you feel better soon. I swear by Honey and Lemon, I make drinks with it and suck on the pastels from Boots and it helps.
Whiff, I hope any passers by appreciated your duo. Hope there are more members next time.
That made me smile Whiff😆 wish i had been a fly on the church wall! Pleased you got your vaccine at last.
Hope you recover soon Smileless, maybe a few hot toddies might help.
Sorry you are feeling so unwell Smiles, you need a bowl of my cure all chicken soup, wish I could have you some. Get well soon 🙏🏾
And ‘no’ Whiff you shouldn’t have had to pay for the jab. Is crazy that with the health probs you have that you had to do this. So bad. It did make me chuckle to think of you and your teacher singing in the church, would see it as a privilege having one to one tuition. Love that ABBA hit btw.
Honey and lemon is good Allsorts. I plonk a teabag in some hot water - a bit of caffeine is good when poorly - then add a shot of lemon and stir in some honey. Tastes lovely and does help with a sore throat.
Take care all xxx
Correction - wish I could give you some
Morning all
What a rotten day!
Smiles wish you better with your tonsillitis. I suffered with that as a child and teenager, till they were taken out, so no more Tonsillitis for me, now get laryngitis
, touch wood haven't had for quite a few years now. When I had mine taken out it was the thing to do, now they reckon it's not good to take them out. I was so ill with mine though, in bed for week, not moving, doctor called in and ambulance called, so mine would still be taken out now- a-days I think.
Lucky you Whiff a 1-2-1 with your singing coach and in a church, wonderful.
