DD is cooking dinner and panicking about the cheese

it is Emmentaler and we brought it back from France yesterday. It did get very hot whilst on the other side of the channel, and it felt soft when we got home. But Emmentaller is pasteurised, isn't it? It tastes strong and acidic but I think that is normal. It came from a market a few days ago.

To use or not to use?

Replies soon as please. Nearly dinner time.

Sorry about the spelling variations.

Does it smell and taste allright?

thatbags Mon 03-Aug-15 18:56:21

Is she intending to cook it?

thatbags Mon 03-Aug-15 18:57:11

Oops. I see you have tasted it.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 03-Aug-15 18:58:36

Yes. Cooking with it.

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 03-Aug-15 18:59:14

I'm not sure how it's supposed to taste.

Ana Mon 03-Aug-15 19:00:04

Emmental cheese isn't pasteurised but it's supposed to taste slightly acidic. I'm sure it'll be fine, especially cooked.

It does look delicious. It is parsnips with bacon, mushrooms, chestnuts, dried cranberries, onion, garlic and breadcrumbs. Gratined in oven. confused [shrug]

I am going to eat it. #hungry

Anne58 Mon 03-Aug-15 19:51:03

Please may I have some?

thatbags Mon 03-Aug-15 20:03:13

Sounds delish. I want some too.

rosequartz Mon 03-Aug-15 20:07:38

Oh, it's all gone! sad

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 03-Aug-15 20:11:56

grin

It was slightly incinerated. To kill the bugs donchaknow. hmm One of those dinners you finish up eating with your fingers. But still....

rosequartz Tue 04-Aug-15 18:10:32

But still - someone else cooked it. That can't be bad!

Ana Tue 04-Aug-15 18:13:24

Slightly concerned that we don't seem to have heard from jingl today... hmm

rosequartz Tue 04-Aug-15 18:29:49

shock oh no!

janerowena Tue 04-Aug-15 21:27:21

grin

It wouldn't have crossed my mind not to eat it. It would have had to have brown lumps on it and be crawling across the floor before I would have chucked it.

I blame the bacon! grin

I'm here! I have been stuffing face celebrating DGS's birthday with Pizza Hut fare, and chocolate cake. Digestive system holding up well so far. smile

janerowena Tue 04-Aug-15 23:21:16

Oh good, I wouldn't have ever thought that you wouldn't be able to hold your own against a mere cheese!

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 05-Aug-15 08:29:37

grin That is so funny janerowena! grin

We have been celebrating DGSs birthday also ours was at Nando's we had a good time and the youngsters enjoyed it,10 x 12 year olds made for a very lively couple of hours I may say,but they all behaved very well.

Ours was just the family glamma. He had his party last week when I was away. Had a lovely day though, even in somewhere as noisy as Pizza Hut. grin Mind you, their lunchtime deal is fantastic. Eat as much pizza, pasta, breadsticks, and salad as you can stuff in and still walk like for £6.99 a head. Was delicicious. Must avoid the scales this morning,

Glad you are on the mend Glam. x

That dinner sounds fantastic jingle - I could eat it now (specially as I've had shredded wheat for breakfast)

It's DH's birthday today and we shall be having a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings. DD is bringing a cake she has made for him. I'm told it is a fatless sponge with strawberries (and cream for those who want it). She is a dab hand at cakes and it is made with love so will taste twice as nice! smile
